THIRTY-SIXTH TRIP
“I don’t know! I just want to see him so bad that I can’t take it anymore. I don't know either, but I feel like I'm going crazy if I haven't seen him yet,” I replied annoyed, and sat down next to Yerim who was just staring at the two of us.
“It’s pregnancy hormones, Raf. Let her be. She is with Jaxon,” Yerim told her, trying to be neutral which is unusual for her.
"Did you tell Jaxon about your condition?" Rafa asked again so I immediately shook.
"What are you, crazy? Do you think Jaxon will let her travel if he knows Rae's condition? Duh!” Yerim sarcastically said to her and sipped on her coffee.
I heaved a deep sigh and look at my cellphone again. Earlier, I was waiting for a text or so he called, but so far there isn’t even one. It’s already 6 o’clock in the evening and I’m sure it’s almost 8 that we’ll get there tonight because we’re doing air travel. I’m excited to see him but scared at the same time because I don’t know what I’ll get there.
"Are you ready?" Jaxon asked me when he got back to the table where we were.
I just nodded before he took my bag and then looked at the two.
“Please, take care of her, Jax. That woman is stubborn so be patient,” Yerim blurted with an apologetic look.
I just stared at her when she looked at me.
“If something happens, bring her back here right away, Jaxon. No matter what happens, don’t let her stay there, especially since that Mari is there,” Rafa said seriously and threateningly so I was just shaken.
“I’ll take care of her, don’t worry. We’ll go ahead, ”Jaxon uttered and we said goodbye to them.
I’m a little bit surprised when he suddenly held my hand and squeeze it gently. I ignored that when we got in the car.
At exactly 8:30 PM, we arrived at Tierra Fima. I tried calling Levi when we headed to the hotel but he didn't really answer. I looked again at Jaxon who was also calling his cousin but a few minutes later, he just turned to me.
“Maybe he’s in the hut, Jax. To Dad Henry,” I told him as we left.
He thought for a moment before turning to me again. He sighed violently and guided me to the car that took us to the farm.
When we got to the hut, I felt the sudden pounding of my chest with extreme nervousness. I don't know why but I feel like I'm sick because I'm so nervous. I stopped for a moment on the stairs of the hut just to take a deep breath before finally climbing.
"There's no one," Jaxon uttered but I didn't listen to him because I saw Levi's boots outside.
I ignored him when he went to the kitchen while I was heading to the room of this hut. The door was closed but not locked so I slowly opened it.
I was about to utter a word when my whole being almost fainted from what I saw. It was him. Asleep while Mari was next to him. He was hugging her without clothes. I’m not sure if he’s also not wearing anything underneath because they’re both covered in blankets.
I gasp. I suddenly could not feel my feet. My chest gradually tightened as the deadly pain bit there. My heart was beating faster, I could hardly breathe.
“Rae? Is it there?” I heard Jaxon call me but I couldn’t even look at him.
The door slammed as Jaxon opened it. Simultaneously with the crash, the two of them woke up immediately. I can hear Jaxon whispering curses beside me.
“L-Lumiere...” he called me in surprise.
I focused my gaze on him and the one next to him. As he hurriedly pulled away and stood up to go to me, was Jaxon's quick move in front of me. I was so attached to his t-shirt when I felt the weakness of my knees again. I could not feel my whole body as if it was numb.
“Let me see her, Jaxon. Get out of there!” I heard Levi say in a fighting tone.
"Fucking asshole! Until now you are still stupid. Stop it!” Jaxon firmly said to him.
I don’t know what happened next. I just heard Mari screaming and Levi falling to the floor because of Jaxon's strong blow to him.
I gasped for air while looking at them both. I try to calm myself. I feel like I'm running out of air because I'm holding back my sobs, but everything was just so hurt that I couldn't stop it. I could feel my tears bursting and running down my cheeks.
"You still haven't changed! She went here just to fucking see you because she misses you so much, and all you do was ignore her! You don’t deserve Astraea, Levi!” Jaxon shouted at him.
“Don’t get involved in this, Jaxon. You know nothing!" Levi answered as he tried to go near me.
I immediately backed away when he tried to approach me. There was nothing else to be heard in that room but my moaning that I was trying to soften and the swearing of the two of them. Mari was also crying. For what reason?!
“Lumiere, please, let me explain. Come on, baby... I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to— ”
“O-oh... god. You make me sick, Lev. I can’t...” I almost whispered while trying to calm myself because my stomach was slowly hurting again.
I was caught there and repeatedly shook. I tried to reach Jaxon’s arm but it was too late, I was sitting up due to weakness.
“F-fuck it... let's go home, Jax. Please...” I told him as I was still sobbing hardly.
But before he could utter a word, my phone rang. Vivien’s name flashes on my screen. I immediately answered it but the only thing I heard was her sobs. It cries like there is no tomorrow.
“Rae... auntie...” she couldn’t finish what she was saying because she cried out loud again.
“W-what... what happened, Viv? Where is mom?” I nervously asked her but she didn’t answer which made me furious.
“V-Vivien! W-what happened?! Answer me!" I hysterically shouted which made her cry even more.
“R-Rae, because... I just took a shower for a while. When I came out... Rae! W-when I came out, her mouth was already foaming. Something... she drank something. I-I don't know, sister, but she's not breathing anymore.”
I'm not sure how many times my heart died that night. As far as I know, I have died repeatedly without an opponent. I was not even given a chance to fight on my own.
