Chapter 61: Talk Time
JADE:
There were far too many should haves that I could’ve done, but I didn’t, resulting into this mess I was in right now…
I should have pushed Kix away from me more intensely. I should never have agreed to talk to him after that incident in the infirmary. I should never have conceded to doing that deed with him no matter how consumed I was with the burning desire to be with him.
Kix said it can’t be helped, but I could have stopped it. I should never have allowed myself to be close to him again, to fall for his charms once more.
As soon as I exited the room where Kix was in, I scampered around looking for the elevator, and I boarded it to get to the main lobby.
I went out of there in a hurry. Rats, I didn’t even have my phone or a wallet with me. What was I going to do?
On top of it all, my monthly period had just started. Kix must have mistaken it as some type of wound, but I was in no mood to correct him.
How unlucky can I get? No matter how much I think of it, this was all my damn fault…
“Miss Jade,” a familiar voice called to me as soon as the elevator floor opened at the lobby.
I looked up to see Edril’s worried face. “The alpha had informed me to assist you when you go down. Are you alright?”
I looked at Edril in relief. I knew he was working for Kix, but at least I could trust him, right?
“I need to go home, Edril. Please take me home.”
“Um, the boss said I should take you to the hospital, Miss Jade.”
“There’s no need for that… Although, can you help me with something else?”
“Y-Yes?...”
After a few more minutes, Edril was able to retrieve the clothes Kix bought for me and some sanitary supplies. I was able to finally change and clean myself more thoroughly.
“Thank you… I’ll pay you back as soon as I get home. Please send me your bank account number,” I said, not quite looking at Edril out of shame.
I wanted to just ask for some money, but he insisted he will buy and fetch everything on my behalf. He just made me sit still and wait inside the car.
“Miss Jade, can I not really persuade you to go to a doctor?”
“There’s no need, Edril. I’m fine.”
I was fine on the outside. It was my heart and soul that did not feel quite right at the moment… However, Edril didn’t have to know all of that.
“Miss Jade… I was under the impression that you and the alpha had a big argument today. I’m sorry for butting in, but wouldn’t you let him explain his side thoroughly?”
I looked down to the ground. I knew Edril must have meant well, but I just couldn’t find the strength to speak with Kix again one more time…
If I get to meet him again, I think I’ll be swayed back. I barely even held it as he hugged me and comforted me earlier.
I had to shake my head. “I’ll talk to Kix some other time. Right now, there’s someone else I have to talk to first, so please take me home.”
“I understand.”
Kix’s condominium was an hour’s drive away from my dorm. Thankfully, I had a lot of time to think about how I should approach things…
Thus, as soon as I arrived at the door and exited Edril’s car, I was already half-prepared…
“Jade,” a familiar voice came calling me. I turned around to find Liam sitting across at the convenience store just outside of my dorm.
“Where have you been,” he asked, his face full of worry. “You and Kix didn’t go back to class. Our teacher was really angry. Thankfully, someone phoned after an hour that you had to stop by the hospital for an emergency.”
I knew that bit about the excuse Edril had to make when Kix suddenly came home and instructed him to call the school. Kix told him I had lost consciousness, so he brought me back to his condominium. Thankfully, Edril never probed what had happened between us before that…
“I’m sorry,” I told Liam quietly. “Liam… Do you have some time? We need to talk.”
“Of course.”
“Um, let’s talk in my room,” I offered.
I honestly didn’t want to talk to Liam inside my room, but I couldn’t possibly tell him all I needed to say in a public place where people could hear what I have to say.
“I brought your bag from school, by the way. Let me fetch it from my room first,” Liam said as soon as we reached our floor.
I entered my room by myself, and the very first thing I did was slump against the bed and cry.
My body was aching all over. I just really wanted to do nothing else but curl up in bed and sleep, but the ache at my heart and soul was nothing compared to that.
If I wanted to have even a little peace of mind for tonight, I must do it now… I must talk to Liam…
As soon as I heard a soft knock on the door, I opened it, and I was greeted by Liam’s smiling face.
I felt doubly guilty to see him smile like that towards me…
“Here’s your bag, Jade. I tried calling your phone, but I didn’t get an answer. Surprisingly, someone also came to pick up Kix’s bag from school. He introduced himself as his assistant… I wonder if Kix was a part of a mafia or something,” Liam said, scratching his chin lightly.
I hated to ruin Liam’s mood. It seemed like he was rather happy judging from how he was smiling so brilliantly back at me.
I was truly a very wretched person to have hurt such an angel like him.
“Jade, are you alright? What did the doctor say? Were you or Kix very sick?”
He tried to brush his fingers against my face, but I flinched.
“Jade, is something wrong?”
“Liam… I… I can’t do this anymore… Let’s break up…”
