05. Sinful Book 2
The ride back home was extremely silent; it was almost like we were in a graveyard. The only thing that could be heard was the sound of the engine and Antonio's heavy breathing. He was hurt, he was annoyed, I felt it.
Whatever the memories of that night that Samantha spoke about earlier was, it really had Antonio shaken, because when we got home, he kept mumbling to himself and saying "that night". I hated being left out, what was going on? I wanted in, but I knew it was going to take a while to get answers from Antonio.
"Hey," I placed my hand on Antonio's chest while he was changing; we had gotten home, and he seemed to me more disturbed about Samantha's outburst.
"I'm sorry l agreed to go there," I apologized.
"I just hate her so much! I never, ever want to see her again, I'm serious," Antonio groaned, I nodded my head in response.
"The worst part is that I didn't date her, but she always acted like she knew everything about me, and she's bringing up what happened? She wasn't even there when it happened, she was eavesdropping on my father and I, that bitch," Antonio screamed. That was the angriest I had ever seen Antonio, he looked so scary, like he could actually kill someone if he had the chance to.
"I've never had so much hate for one person as much as I do for her," he's voice was getting louder.
"Calm down baby, it's fine. I lol make sure she stays away, no matter what," I promised him.
"Diego, I don't want her anywhere close to him. That poor boy has suffered enough," Antonio pulled me closer to him.
"I'm such a bad person, I admit, but fuck!" Antonio yelled. RIP eardrums.
I didn't understand half of the shit that was going on, or what he was saying or what was going on, but the one thing I was sure of was that Antonio had unfinished business with Samantha, and they needed to sort it out, but that was impossible, because with the amount of rage I felt from Antonio, he could kill Samantha if she blinked.
“Hey, don’t beat yourself up about it” I tried to calm him down.
“Baby,” Antonio’s voice was solemn. He was looking at me like he only just noticed I was in the closet with him.
“Hmm?” I answered, looking up at him. He snaked his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to him.
“Why aren’t you asking me anything?” He asked. That was the same damn thing I was asking myself. Why the fuck was I not asking any questions? I wanted to know, hell, I deserved to know, but something was holding me back from asking.
“I don’t know, but maybe I trust that you would tell me when you’re calm, without me having to ask,” I smiled at him. He nodded his head and leaned in, burying his head in the crook of my neck.
“Even after I tell you, you’ll stay with me right?” He asked. Was it that bad?
“Of course baby, I’d stay,” I wrapped my own arms around this waist.
Samantha, I had nothing against her, but everyday that passed made me feel like she was planning something, I didn’t know what it was, but I was going to find out and stop her from doing it.
I led Antonio out of the closet and to the bed. It was all my fault he was like that, he had to go to a place he wasn’t mentally ready to go to; if only I had listened to my instinct and stood my ground to Daniel about how it would be impossible to bring Antonio along. As Antonio’s head hit the pillow, he found a comfortable spot and fell asleep, while I couldn’t, I was too busy thinking about everything.
When I had enough, I grabbed my phone from my bedside table and sneaked out of the room, to one of the empty rooms in the house; I dialed Aliyah’s number as I paced around the room. When she picked up the call, I told her everything that had happened at dinner earlier. Aliyah laughed.
“Look babe, take it from me, I know that Samantha girl, don’t trust her. She has an innocent face, but the things she’s capable of doing?” Aliyah warned.
“When Antonio met Samantha, he thought she was this little virgin girl that had no idea how the world works, but that was just her face, this girl knew everything, at first it was cute, then it was not, when she started to act all clingy, holding on to Antonio and calling herself his girlfriend and stuff, Anto didn’t mind the title because that was on her, but he never called her his girlfriend or anything, not even a nickname,” Aliyah went on.
“She was always listening in on Antonio’s conversations, wanting to get involved with everything concerning him, she was doing too much. Where everything ended for her, was when she thought having a baby would keep Antonio close to her, maybe he’d marry her,” Aliyah laughed.
“She told me she was pregnant before she told Antonio, and when she told me, it sounded like she was bragging about it,” of course I knew Antonio hated kids, but I wanted her to hear it from him, just so she’d be embarrassed and hurt. When she told Antonio she was pregnant, he was very close to killing her. He told her to stay away from him with that baby, she begged and cried but Antonio wasn’t listening. Samantha hated the child, and swore that she was going to make Antonio take him, no matter what. You know the rest of the story,” Aliyah said and I nodded.
“Look, use your head, don’t mind that bitch! She had seven years to make up for being a shitty mother, but she didn’t, she had to wait for Antonio to take the child before she realized she wanted to be a better mother. You are Diego’s mother now, and I don’t expect that you’d let some disgusting old dog tear your family apart,” Aliyah said and I nodded.
I was Diego’s mother, and I had every right to the child, Samantha did not, and since Antonio didn’t want Samantha anywhere close to Diego, it was my duty to keep it that way.
“I hope you’re ready for my engagement party,” Aliyah asked and I smiled. Her engagement party was in one week, and it was all she seemed to talk about everyday, even while having serious conversations.
“I- yes ma’am, I’m ready,” I smiled and hung up. I wasn’t ready at all.
