Silva's POV
All I felt when I came to was complete emptiness. There was nothing. I just felt nothing, except an incredibly great thirst. But I didn't know what.
I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was a brown haired guy with ice blue eyes leaning over me, eyes wet and worrying. He said something, but I didn't hear it at all. I only heard him moving his lips. Wonderful soft lips. I wanted to try them. Sink my fangs into her as we kissed and taste his blood.
The guy moved his hand and caressed my cheek. When he touched my skin, I felt a pleasant tingling sensation. A tingling that sounded pretty familiar and with that, I lost my thirst and felt something else inside me again. Love.
"Steven?" I croaked. My memories snapped back and I remembered this beautiful man whose face I was looking at. I thought I'd never see him again.
"Yes, it's me." He smiled and I wanted to smile back. However, he was suddenly violently snatched away from me.
Devin pulled him up by the collar and threw him back into a group of wolves. Upon closer inspection, I could identify the Alpha, Beta, Luna, and other pack members in this group. But I couldn't look any further at the crowd, because I too was violently grabbed by the upper arm and pulled up. It was rough, but it didn't really hurt at all.
"Congratulations Princess, you're one of the hybrids now too... Me." Devin laughed.
What did he say? That couldn't be right. I couldn't be a hybrid. I did not want. That's not what I am, because I'm a werewolf and not a monster!!!
"And so you're part of my pack now. So drink up!" What? No! This must all be a horrible nightmare.
I felt a growing pressure inside me and my thirst grew again. I felt my fangs expand, and with them more fangs. So Devin was right after all. I'm one of his monsters now. But I don't want to be one. Isn't there a cure?
"Go suck your brother dry and show everyone what a monster you are," he ordered in a very dominating tone. My eyes automatically found my brother's main artery, which I fixed on.
I wanted to fight back. I didn't want to obey my 'new alpha'. Not accepting his command. But it just didn't work. I slowly moved towards Jaxon. Ready to suck the life out of his body at any moment. Devin had me completely under his control.
"Silva! No!" I heard my mate's voice, who actually managed to get through to me.
"No!" Provocatively, I turned to Devin and defied his command. Thanks to my mate, I had actually somehow regained my self-control.
"You wanted it that way."
Jaxon, who was standing right in front of me, sagged. Devin stood behind him. Holding my breath, I looked at his crimson hand, in which he held a heart.
"Bye bye, Jaxon," Devin said before dropping the heart to the ground and wiping his blood-smeared hand on his bare leg.
I only now realized what just happened. This psychopath ripped my brother's heart out of his chest. He killed my brother!
Pained at this realization, I cried out.
"JAXON!" It was already too late and my brother was no longer among the living, but I still had to scream his name one last time. Devin continued to get excited about my suffering and laughed his head off. This man is just sick .
"YOU SICK PSYCHOPATH!" I kept screaming. It was all about to stop. I finally wanted to escape from this nightmare that was called my life. But how?
Devin continued to laugh psychotically. This guy really should have been admitted to the closed unit as soon as he was born.
When I reached my brother's body, I dropped to my knees and took his head between my hands. His eyes were still open, so I rubbed a hand over them to close them. It should look like he's just sleeping.
Tears ran down my cheek as my mind tried to shut down. I always thought I was mentally strong, but apparently I wasn't. I just couldn't cope with all these new directions in my life. First it was a dream come true and now it's a hellish nightmare.
Jaxon, my brother, is dead. He has been by my side all my life and has always taken care of me. He was there for me when I needed him. Everything he did was to protect me. So he even killed his own mate. And now? Now he was violently torn from my life. He just raved to me about how it would be if we could live together in a normal pack. It was always his and my dream, now what? Now he's dead and I'm a monster. How could I go on? I just don't want anymore.
"No, why?" Devin parroted after me in a voice that was way too high. "Okay, I think you've mourned your brother enough. You'd better save your tears for your mate."
"What do you mean?" I knew exactly what he meant. But I asked anyway. If he thinks that he can just rip my mate out of my life, then he was very wrong.
Because by transforming into a hybrid, not only he had gained strength.
"You heard me right, Princess. Your mate will be next. It is questionable at all that the goddess will provide us with a soul mate. I mean, they only make you weaker."
“You might have forced someone to be your mate, but you're still quite possessive. We don't want to forget who killed Samuel to protect his 'mate'," I hissed. After all, he killed the boss back then because he wanted to rape me. And now he was babbling about a soul mate having a weak one But he made a huge mistake in killing Samuel.
My brother's dead body was still in my arms and my eyes were wet from crying, but I had a plan...even if it wouldn't bring my brother back, maybe he could save the lives of my friends and my love. But not mine. I couldn't be saved because I was a monster.
"Shouldn't have helped you, after all he wanted to touch you." Devin's laughter had faded and his face was frozen.
But my plan worked, he admitted it and that in front of his hunter friends.
"You what?" one of those rags shouted and pushed himself off the jeep he was leaning against. He immediately released his gun and aimed it directly at Devin.
"You motherfucker said you're on our side. Then why are you killing Samuel. He was your partner!" he taunted Devin.
Devin realized his mistake. His expression was still frozen and he raised his arms reassuringly.
"Be happy Derek, you could take the lead now. I was just doing you a favor." He tried, which didn't seem to work, as this so-called Derek shot into the air as a warning.
"YOU KILLED MY FATHER!" he roared now, daringly stepping through the wall of hybrids. They stood still in line like toy soldiers, not moving an inch. All were just Devin's pawns, which he had total control over. Almost creepy...
"So what? I also killed my father and my mother and her brother and a whole pack. Your dad was just one of many." A grin spread across Devin's face again. Did I mention how sick this guy actually is?
"You messed with the wrong people," growled this Derek, fingers twitching on the barrel of his gun. He wasn't really going to shoot, was he? He knew he was the next one to get killed.
A shot sounded. Beside me, Devin fell backwards onto the ground.
