###Chapter 137 Alice Astley Was the Other Woman
###Chapter 137 Alice Astley Was the Other Woman
Such a man was also the best in the world!
"Ivelle!" There was a sound in Ivelle's ear. She froze and went on into the hall.
Alice smiled at her. "You seem to have a big belly now, so you have to worry about it and start walking."
Ivelle nodded at her remark. She had vaguely felt that someone was looking at her behind and so she looked back unconsciously. Aaron, who had a pair of thick and dark eyebrows, stared at her. Their eyes met and she could not help but be stupefied, so out of instinct, Ivelle just smiled, nodded slightly at him and said her 'Hello.' He furrowed his eyebrows and made no superfluous movements. Aaron just bowed his head and continued to read.
The hall of Badger family's house was particularly bright and luxurious. There was a piano under the stairs as well, which was expensive and well-maintained.
Alice told the people to prepare the meal and beckoned Jordan and Ivelle to sit down in the living room with light and gentle on her eyes. "Your Uncle Badger has gone to the company and will be back in a minute."
With that, she looked at Ivelle and smiled, "Has the child you're bearing already been seven months old? Is the due date set?"
She smiled and looked at Jordan before she said, "He's all arranged." Alice nodded and the smile on her face could warm into people's hearts.
After a brief chat, Alice took us to have a cup of tea in the backyard. Their nephews met each other. Ivelle only spoke when needed and remained silent while Alice was the one who had so much to tell among them. She asked the Astley family over the years, Jordan, the company, all the people around him, but did not seem to ask Mr. Astley himself.
Ivelle's words were very light and cautious and Jordan all responded to her one by one. She saw Alice's eyes were a little red and swollen. She got up slightly and said, "Auntie, I've been sitting for a long time and my waist is a little uncomfortable. I'll go for a walk."
Alice got up and worriedly said, "I have a doctor at home. Why don't you call me to help and assist you?"
Ivelle shook her head in response hurriedly. "No, I'll just walk. You guys are talking."
Jordan looked at me and said, "Go ahead. Please be careful and safe!"
Witnessing this, Alice smiled and looked gratefully at me. If Jordan did not say anything about the Astley family, she would not dare ask as well. Alice was an elegant woman who certainly does not want others to see her misbehaving.
The yard was so large that Ivelle walked along the pebbles for a while, found a shady place to sit down, and quietly looked at the scenery in the yard. The appearance of Aaron broke the silence. The man was tall, and he stood there in front of her. Seeming to have intimidating Ivelle in his aura.
She got up, smiled politely and said, "Hello!"
He raised his eyebrows. He was holding the book he had just read, and his eyes fell on her belly. "An Astley?"
This remark was somewhat abrupt, Ivelle was stupefied only then reacted to come over the realization that he was referring to the child in her belly. She just nodded and answered, "My name is Ivelle Astley. Hello!"
He nodded and said nothing more, but the low-eyed hostility was particularly clear. It made her wonder. She had never met him, how can there be hostility? Fortunately, he simply said 'Hello' and left.
It was already two o'clock in the afternoon at lunchtime.
At the dinner table, Alice introduced the people present there, with a total of only five. Jordan, Alice and Ivelle, the other two were Aaron and the other was Richard Badger.
Richard looked at the fact that he was already in his fifties, and this middle-aged man who was arrogant in the financial world was surprisingly kind and gentle to people.
Alice and Richard, a petite young woman of less than 35 and a middle-aged man, differ from the couple in their teens, so they would inevitably think about it. The doubts in her mind were solved when a woman named Laura Sanders appeared.
On the originally quiet and harmonious dinner table, a middle-aged woman appeared and rushed to Richard to fight. Her eyes were full of tears and her voice was hoarse. "Richard, how dare you raise a mistress and spoil a mistress! I can ignore it because I can follow you! But I cannot stand the fact that why did you transfer the inheritance of the company to this woman? Where's for your son? Is that what you wanted for your son? You just let him be laughed at by the little people in the capital?"
The woman's face was ferocious. She looked at Alice and said, "Alice, how are you? I cannot compete with you, and also cannot beat you for ten years! You ruined my marriage, my family, why destroy my son now?"
Alice was a little surprised. He looked at Richard and frowned. "Why did you transfer the right of inheritance to my name?"
"Sooner or later, these things will be yours. I'm too old to last for a few years." Richard was a little powerless and looked at Laura. "All the assets in my name have been transferred to Tommy Colby, and his company in his country is doing quite well."
Laura looked scarlet. "Richard, are you nuts? You and I have run the company bit by bit over the years. Why are you giving it to others?"
"Alice is no one else. She is my wife." Richard opened his mouth, and fell it on Aaron. His voice was old and tired. "Take your mother home."
Aaron furrowed his eyebrows, and his eyes were full of indifference and violence. "Isn't her home here?"
"You-" Richard suddenly coughed with anger. Alice supported him and checked the respiratory tract for him. "I won't take a penny of what belongs to the company. Don't provoke him anymore. He's not in good health. Please go back!"
This was said to both Aaron and Laura. The latter stared at the two with her eyes full of resentment and rout. He grabbed Aaron's hand, and his voice trembled a little. "Aaron will surely send his mother back!"
Aaron looked at Richard and Alice. His eyes were gloomy and indifferent, and he had not moved for a long time. If Laura had not choked up, he would have been furious at them.
This was a farce that had nothing to do with Ivelle and Jordan. Ivelle sighed slightly and understood why her grandfather did not want to recognize Aunt Alice.
Astley's three generations joined the army and made meritorious deeds, and the family style was pure and fine. To Jordan's generation, his grandfather did not want his children and grandchildren to still walk on the tip of the knife, so he abandoned the army and went into business.
When Laura came in just now, she was not stupid, and she could guess something from it. Richard's son was in his thirties, and Alice was only 35. Obviously, the marriage between the two was not as simple as they seemed it to be. Encountering such a thing, everyone's heart felt uneasy. It was supposed to be a good meal but after that had happened, everyone fell silent.
The doctor in the villa treated Richard in the bedroom who was accompanied by Alice.
It was already evening, and Richard was better and had fallen asleep. Alice breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Jordan with some guilt and remorse. "It was my carelessness that made you not have a good meal."
Ivelle did not open her mouth, but just looked at her in a shallow, cool voice. "Do you regret it?"
Alice smiled bitterly and replied, "After so many years, there is no regret. Life always goes on, as they say."
Hearing this, Ivelle said no more, so she pulled Jordan who looked at her with her sudden move and said, "Let's head back first!"
Originally, they had their own concerns, so they did not do much to retain them.
When they got on the bus, Ivelle was in a daze at the scenery outside the window. Jordan started the car engine and said, "What do you want to eat?"
Ivelle just shook her head and said, "Not very hungry!"
