###Chapter 438 Because You Are Loved by Him
###Chapter 438 Because You Are Loved by Him
There was a sneer from Brad. "You can choose not to come." He repeated. "But I can't guarantee that you'll see her again."
Confirmed, he was threatening me.
Sometimes, I wondered what kind of person Brad was. After all these years, I still had no idea whether he was a good or bad person. But then again, one couldn't just simply tell if a person was good or bad.
I paid the driver and got out of the car. The driver looked a little worried. "Miss, are you sure you'll go there? You might get in danger."
I nodded as I held up my umbrella to shield myself from the rain. "Please, call the police on your way back later."
The driver was hesitant, but still drove away.
Footprints were left on the muddy road as I made my way to the abandoned factory with my umbrella. The factory was empty. It was a good thing I came here once before and I didn't feel scared now. I walked further inside and finally saw Brad, but Sunshine was nowhere to be seen.
He found me as well and he sneered. "How dare you?!"
I stared at him and wondered again what kind of heart did this man possessed.
"What? Do you want to murder me?" I wasn't scared at all even though I was directly looking at him in the eye.
Brad was sitting on an old chair as he scrutinized me. "Aren't you afraid?"
"Should I be scared?"
He raised a brow meaningfully. "Don't you want to ask where Sunshine is?"
"Where is she?"
My simple answers were getting in his head and he snarled. "Aren't you going to ask why?"
"Why?"
His stare turned to a full-blown glare. "Ivelle, just what does Jordan see in you?"
I pursed my lips and didn't answer. Instead, I thought to myself what are the chances that I would be found if I die here? Hopefully, I would be found shortly after my death.
He probably realized I wasn't interested in indulging him anymore and gave up on provoking me. He fiddled with his cell phone. "Sunshine is safe. Eva just took her to another place, so you don't have to worry."
I nodded and sighed. "You're a good actor."
For a moment. I thought I lost Sunshine.
The corner of his mouth raised. "Thank you. Otherwise, you won't believe me, will you?"
My eyes narrowed. He wasn't really thinking of killing Sunshine, was he?
After a moment of silence, Brad talked again. "When she jumped from a building, she had a scar on her face. Why don't you imitate it?"
I raised a brow at that. He wanted me to jump from a building as well? Moreover, who was this 'she' he was talking about?
He saw that I was indifferent to the idea and pointed to the bottle on the dilapidated table. "Do it yourself."
"Sulphuric acid, huh?"
He nodded calmly. "It might hurt a little bit, but it'll be over soon."
I didn't move. I just looked at him.
He was silent for a moment as well. "She was only seventeen when we met, and she left the same age as Amy. I won't embarrass you, but do it yourself."
I looked at him with an expressionless face. "You should at least let me know who she is and why you chose me."
Brad's eyes were too shrewdly calm. It was ruthless. "Krista Astley, Jordan's cousin." He answered. "Ivelle, I didn't want to hurt you. But there was a big hole in my heart that I have to mend even if I have to make a deal with a devil."
"So, I am the sacrifice?" It was really hard to believe that this person in front of me was willing to make a deal with a devil.
He played with the mobile phone in his hand. "Not really. It's just that you're loved by Jordan. He and I are still brothers, but for the sake of fairness, he will lose what I lose. If he doesn't, he may not know what it's like to lose a loved one."
I couldn't understand this man at all.
Kyle said that Uncle Hector had a daughter. I also knew that Jordan had a cousin who was in a relationship with Brad when they were young.
But these were all in the past. A past I'd never participated in.
I didn't know what happened between him and Jordan, but if he could go this far, then I assumed his heart was rotten since a long time ago.
Suddenly, he was looking as me with so much compassion in his eyes. "Sometimes, I feel like you resembled her. When you handed me your clothes at the Hampshire Bay Villa, I saw her in you. You're as kind as her. After that, I wanted to help you leave Jordan, so you will be free. Why didn't you leave him at that time?"
I did not know how to answer, and it seemed like he didn't want me to answer either.
Then he suddenly laughed. "If you left Jordan that time, maybe your life would have been different. I wouldn't hurt you, you wouldn't meet Maisie, and you wouldn't have made such a scene with your real parents." He looked at me with hooked lips. "Can't you see what kind of person Jordan is? He hurts the person he loves most, then he surrounds you under the banner of love. He will tell you that he will always be there for you and treats you with meticulous kindness, no matter how broken you are. Yes, you obviously resent him, but you will never have the heart to hurt him."
He smiled and his eyes were cold. "Ivelle, in fact, we're the same. He hurt me. He let me lose my love. He let me be miserable, but he was the one who pulled me out of hell. I resent him, but I didn't want to hurt him directly. Aren't we both a complicated type of people?"
The reason why humans were weak was because we all have emotions and desires, and these emotions and desires never exist alone. They all intersected and complemented each other.
Looking at Brad like this, I couldn't say whether I felt sympathy or pity. Maybe, both. Maybe, neither.
"So, you want to kill me and make him suffer?"
He smiled and nodded. "That's right."
I glanced at the sulphuric acid on the table. "If I die, you will be at odds with each other."
In all fairness, Brad seemed to genuinely sad at the idea. "I know. But when you become an enemy, you won't have to worry so much about what will the other feel. No one needs to feel guilty, and no one needs to bury the scars in their heart."
