###Chapter 439 You Are Afraid
###Chapter 439 You Are Afraid
They said that there was a clear distinction between love and hate. I wondered if this case was the same.
I stared at him, unblinking. "Brad, can you guarantee that Sunshine will grow up safe and sound?"
He nodded calmly. "Yes, she is my daughter. I will take good care of her and give her all my love and care."
And I believed him. So, I nodded.
Would the driver call the police? It seemed unlikely and a little reckless. I should have told Liam before I went here, otherwise if I died, my body wouldn't have to rot for a long time. I didn't want my body to be found rotting, that would be ugly to look at.
The corner of his mouth raised into a wanton smile at the sight of me looking at the sulphuric acid. "I have to say, it's a shame that I didn't ask you to die the same way as Krista did."
I rolled my eyes in disgust. "So in your opinion, you're already giving me a better treatment by asking me do this instead?"
Brad nodded. "I was being considerate, yes. Now, what are you waiting for?"
I was not afraid of death, but I couldn't really see myself dying in this way. If I did, I would have done this a long time ago.
Brad was an extremely impatient man. He immediately stood up and strode to the table when he I didn't move. He picked up the sulphuric acid and turned to me with an impatient look on his face. "Do you want me to do it myself?"
I stared at his ferocious face and took a step back out of instinct. "Brad, you can still turn back."
He suddenly laughed and looked at me with a hideous face. "Ivelle, you're afraid!"
Nonsense, who the hell wouldn't be afraid of this situation?
He approached me step by step while I subconsciously stepped back.
"Brad, the dead cannot be resurrected, but the lives of the living are very precious." I instinctively said.
He smiled coldly and did not listen to me at all. He had twisted the lid of the in his hand and held it close to me. "You are very much like Krista. She left with me so much pain to struggle. At that time, I thought that she must want to live, but couldn't find a reason to do so. Then, why can't I be the reason for her to live?"
I retreated step by step, but my back bumped to an old cabinet. There was no way to escape now.
He looked at me as if I was a clown, interesting to look at.
Then, he ghastly poured the sulphuric acid on me.
Almost at the same time, I instinctively raised my hand in a futile attempt to protect my face.
Suddenly, I found myself being hugged by strong arms. I heard a sound of what sounded like a burning flesh together with a disgusting smell. There was a hiss of pain from the man who was embracing me.
When I came to my senses, I found that the sulphuric acid that was aimed at me had been blocked by Jordan. His men subdued Brad, who had not yet recovered from shock. He gaped at Jordan's face that was pale as a paper.
I opened my mouth but I couldn't say a word. I watched him kneel in front of me and watched someone take him away quickly. My head was buzzing, I couldn't say a word, and I didn't know what to do.
Hospital.
There were doctors and nurses walking in front of me when I came to.
Then, I hissed in pain.
It turned out that a part of my face was still burned by sulphuric acid.
"A small area of your face was burned and your right eyeball is injured. Fortunately, the cornea wasn't damaged so it will not lead to blindness." Explained the doctor in a white coat who had just bandaged my wound.
The doctor obviously knew I was awake so he explained my injuries to me. I guess that answered why my face and eye hurt a bit.
But why didn't it hurt at first? Maybe it happened so fast that I forgot the pain.
When the doctor left, the nurse was supposed to inject me an infusion but she couldn't find the vein. She tapped the back of my hand for a few times. "Miss, make a fist." She requested.
I clenched my fist and she looked carefully at the back of my hand. When she found the vein, she moved to inject the needle and I turned away from the sight. Truthfully, I was afraid of pain.
"All right!" The nursed exclaimed when she was finished.
I relaxed and glanced back at the needle that had been inserted in the back of my left hand. I saw that the vein on the back of my hand were bulging. "Nurse, I think there's something wrong. The flow was countercurrent."
I was not talking nonsense, because the syringe of the infusion had changed from white liquid to red.
The nurse looked back and was stunned for a moment. She immediately pulled out the needle that had been inserted, and a few drops of blood came out with it. She cleaned the wound with iodophor and pressed a cotton swab on it. "Hold it for a moment." She requested.
As I pressed the cotton using my right hand to my bleeding left hand, I couldn't help but scold the nurse inside my head. People's veins were delicate and it carried blood. If they were not careful, it could cause small mistakes like this.
Probably because of the wrong prick, the place where it had been pierced was bulged. The blood had stopped coming out, but the purple bulge at the back of my hand was not a pretty sight to look at.
I threw the cotton swab on the trash can. The nurse noticed the purple bulge on the back of my hand and frowned slightly. She looked apologetic, but she didn't say she was sorry.
I raised my hand to look at the bulging vein closely. I felt a bit sorry for myself. It was difficult to find the veins before, but now it was bulging. If she tied it again and made a mistake, my hand would be abused.
The nurse tapped the back of my hand and made me clench my fist again. Fortunately, this time it went well, the needle went in, and there was no abnormal reaction. The nurse packed up the medicine. When she saw the bulging vein in my left hand, she looked guilty. "I'll get you some ice later."
I nodded and looked at my hands. My vision was bit blurred because one of my eyes were covered.
Liam came in and passed by the nurse. The man was handsome and he inevitably made people want to look more at his face. Liam was probably used to it as he entered the ward coolly. He glanced at my hands. "How did this happened?"
"Mainly because it was difficult to search for veins in my hands." I answered nonchalantly.
He raised a brow but didn't comment anything more about it. "How do you feel?"
"Fine, I guess." I replied. "Have you found Sunshine?"
Liam nodded. "Yes. Jordan was with Eva. After he found Sunshine, he noticed that something wrong, so he went to the factory to look for you."
