Chapter 50
Fuck.
“Look, I'm sorry. She was getting on my nerves.”
Way to go, Kura. You just made a barbecue of yourself. From the way she looked at me, she saw everything.
“Come have lunch with me, Kura.” She turned towards the direction of the dining room.
My eyes widened, shocked at the sudden turn of events.
Did she just invite me to have lunch with her?
She noticed that I wasn’t moving so she called me again. “Come, my dear. I am starving.”
That was the signal that let me immediately follow her.
“I’m sorry if I was rude to your guest.” I apologized, ashamed of my actions.
It was hard for me to eat with her cause I was still guilty for acting like I was the hostess of this house. What’s more embarrassing is that she saw everything.
“She wasn’t my guest. She was Nile’s pest.” I froze at her answer. She’s the only one I know who’s brutally blunt without any care what people think. She was simply harsh with words. “And no matter how many times I taunted her, she could not seem to get it. In any case, I should thank you for that little show there.” Her cat eyes were filled with mischievousness.
I looked at her incredulously. “I thought you… will be close considering her family is doing business with you.”
She snorted. “Every woman who’s after my son will surely have her deathwish.”
I stilled.
“Mother, what nonsense are you talking about?” Nile came up, now all changed with casual clothes.
He moved to sit beside me and kissed my temple before grabbing his tableware. Despite her previous statement, she didn’t react with how his son was being affectionate towards me. She watched us as if it was only natural to see it.
It made me wonder why.
Still, despite her acting nonchalant towards us, the words she said were stuck to my mind like a broken record. It’s starting to make me doubt my relationship with Nile again. It made me even forget the thought of that brat.
I was feeling dejected but I tried hard not to make it obvious to him. I don’t want him to worry. Not to mention it’s Quinn and Tyler’s wedding tomorrow. I have to be in my best or else they would know. So I shook the negative feelings off.
On the bright side, Sara seemed to no longer be against my staying here. I’ll earn her trust for now if I can. It’ll be a long way for her and her husband’s approval.
“Who was that woman exactly?” I asked as soon as we reached his room. I don’t want it to slip from my mind again.
A lot of things happened one after another so I couldn’t ask him before.
“I worked with his father and sometimes she helps with his business so we see each other sometimes.” He answered calmly.
“Does she often come here then?” I spoke while crossing my arms, assessing him if he’s telling the truth or not.
“Yes, if I’m not in my office. We don’t have a relationship, Kura. She’s the one who always came after me. You should know by now by the way I treated her. I mean I would’ve shown my concern for her when you’re trying to break her arm.” He showed a teasing smile which broke a giggle from me.
I guess it was already that obvious when he left without a care in the world. He left to change and went back to have lunch with us. If I were the girl, I would stop dreaming of having this man. I don’t want to suffer in the future. It’s painful when a man doesn’t love you back, especially when you’re crazy for him. I guess Christina was pitiful.
Nile steps towards me. His warm hand rests against my cheek, the other resting on my waist. “What my concern is you. I’m sorry if my mother offended you.”
Actually, his mother was naturally strict and cold but she was surprisingly more lenient to me now than before- which was a surprise. I also realized that Nile got that personality from his mom. Although I’ve known his father for just a short time, from just the facial expression, he was a nice man. He was far more approachable than the two.
I shook my head. “You know I understand her. She’s just protective of her cute little son.” I teased while pinching his cheek.
Nile scowled. “Do not provoke me, lyuBImaya. You dare say that but it’s you who’s always crying while I fuck-”
“Okay~” I drawled. I stepped out from his hold. “You and your dirty mouth, Veselov. You weren’t exactly like that when I first met you. Remember how you judged me because of my tattoos or how I look?” My arms crossed as I narrowed my eyes at him.
He suddenly smirked… mischievously. I frowned while wondering why. There’s gotta be something in that silly mind of his.
“I remember. I remembered how hot you were despite not wearing revealing clothes.” I frowned. “Your tattoos were peeking from your forearms. Your multiple piercings glinted against the light. Your almost white blonde hair was sticking out like a sore thumb.” He snorted at his own comment but I just watched him with knitted eyebrows. “Your eyes… your eyes though were strangely similar to mine… but it looked better on you.”
He took a step towards me, taking my hand. “You looked like an angel. It had to be a fallen one with a sinful mouth.” He then raised my hand and pressed his lips on my knuckles.
I rolled my eyes. “Do not patronize me, Veselov. We both know you were not like this the first time we met and probably even before that. You were easily embarrassed and easily blush too. I don’t know what the fuck happened that you suddenly became this dominant daring man.”
“It’s because-” I immediately covered his mouth with my hand.
“Na-uh. I know what you’re going to say. You really need to go to church and drink some holy water. Maybe that shy straightlaced Nile will come back. Yeah?”
He grabbed my wrist to remove my hand from his mouth. He pulled both of my hands and encircled it to his waist. His hands then went to my face, caressing my cheeks softly.
He then chuckles. “You’re just a bad influence, lyuBImaya.”
I opened my mouth for a comeback but then I realized he was right. Shit. I was the aggressive, daring one from the start. “How should I redeem myself then? Should I remove my tats to show my sincerity?”
There was little to joke to my suggestion. I mean it could gain his mother’s approval, right? Even just a little. I want her to like me for Nile even if it takes sacrificing what I love. My tats have deep meaning to me. I started having them when my family abandoned me. Every stroke and image have its meaning and story. That’s why I held on to them despite the people already judging me. Including this asshole.
“Don’t. Don’t do something that’s against your wishes, Kura. If you want it to stay there, then let it stay there but if you want to remove it, you can too. Just don’t ask me. Do whatever you want. Do whatever makes you happy. That‘s what’s important.”
I resisted a smile at his remark. Wow. It’s like Nile Veselov suddenly grew up. Or is he just like this at this moment? I mean he’s still pretty childish especially when he starts getting jealous.
“That’s some golden words you got there, Mister Veselov.” I teased.
He smiled. “I just don’t want to let you feel that you’re being forced to do it. I admit I was a jerk back then. I judged you not knowing your abilities just because of the way you look. But Kura Kunoe has her ways of bitch slapping everyone.” I laughed at that. “I admire you, Kura, ever since you proved to me that you’re more than just what people see outside of you. Perhaps it’s the reason why I let myself get seduced by you.”
“Ah, no.” I stepped out of his arms again. “Not this again. You’re going to say something to make me spread my legs there!” I pointed to his big ass bed which I lost count how many times we had sex there in a short amount of time.
“Come here, lyuBImaya.” He steps towards me as I step back. His hand reached out for me to take it. “Come here. Do not make me repeat myself. You know I still could catch you with no effort.”
“I will if you let me rest tonight- and today. I know what’s in your mind, Veselov. Stop following me. It’s Quinn’s wedding tomorrow damn it. I need to be extra beautiful!” I whirled around in haste to reach for the doorknob.
I halt with abruptness when I hear him speak.
“Ya lyublyu tyebya.”
[Translation: I love you.]
I slowly turned my head towards him with raised eyebrows. “Yeah, nice try.” I quickly opened the door and left him.
“Kura!” He growled.
