Chapter 60

“Wha… what are you doing here? H-how are you here?!” I trembled as I continued to slowly step back further away from him.

I was shocked. Why the fuck is Jacob Moore here? He was… he was supposed to be… he was supposed to be in prison.

Tears pooled my eyes as I saw him right in front of me. Although he didn’t look any better, the look he was giving me made my hair on the skin stand.

His face sunk a bit, bags under his eyes. His once well kept hair is now messy. His classy suit and tie was replaced with normal ordinary clothes. He looked like a normal guy who’s going to fucking kill me right now!

“Did you like my present, my love?” He was sneering as he spoke.

My heart jumped at the possibility. “W-what present?”

I’m fucking scared. I could no longer move. I froze as I shook from his mere presence. He was the root of all my recent anxieties which I tried my hardest to ignore because I believed he’s no longer a problem. Yet the man is here in front of me.

“I heard your little problem with your family.”

No.

No, no, no.

“Especially your stepmother.”

“Y-you did that. You did that to her!” I exclaimed. “Were you the one who drove that car?!” He was silent. And his silence meant yes when he stared at me with meaningful eyes. “What the fuck did you do?! Why?!”

My anger overcame my fear as I stomped towards him and slapped his face. His face turned to the side because of the impact yet he didn’t show any sign that he was mad with what I just did. “You piece of shit! You’re going to pay for what you did! Why?! Why did you do it?!”

“Because that woman hurt you. Anyone who will hurt you will receive my wrath!” He said in rage.

“You’re insane!”

“I am for you!”

I gasped, staggering back, shocked at his absolute confession.

“I will do anything for you! I will kill for you. And Nile Veselov will pay for stealing you from me.”

I slowly took steps back before whirling around and ran as fast as I could. My tears fell uncontrollably as I ran for my life.

It didn’t take me that far when he lunged at me from behind. His arms went around me as he caught me from running. I tried to shake and kick him off.

“Let go of me! Let go of me!” I screamed as my legs kicked and my arms tried to shake him off. He didn’t budge and instead tightened his grip on me. I hope the whole neighborhood heard my screams.

“Please! Jacob, please let me go. Please.” I cried, tired from so much effort.

“You’re mine, Kura. Mine. I will only let you go if you submit to me. If you admit that you belong to me.” He inhaled my scent through my neck before he pressed his lips against my ear and spoke those disgusting words.

“You’re a psycho! Let go of me! Let go of me! I will never be yours!”

“Rose!” I stopped struggling as I turned to look where the source of the voice was. Colton was the only one who called me that name so I was relieved when I heard it. It means he was here.

He was right across the road. His eyes suddenly shifted and I followed the direction of his sight. I gulped when I saw Nile glowering furiously at us. He was in front of us a couple of meters away.

Him and Jacob are the worst combination. I don’t know to what extent their actions could result. They will wreak havoc here.

I watched Nile from here.“Please, Jacob. Just let me go.” Tears slowly fell down to my cheeks as I pleaded to him.

I don’t want them to fight. Knowing the both of them, they will surely kill each other.

He held me tightly instead. “If you’re not going to be mine,” He muttered against my temple. “Then you’ll never be his.”

I felt his hand move. A cold metal was pressed against the side of my head and I know what it is. My heart jumped, overwhelmed by fear of losing my life when I heard it clicked.

“One more step, Veselov, or you’ll never have her forever.” He said as soon as he saw Nile taking a step forward.

He stopped at Jacob’s threat.

My tears started to pour nonstop. I am beyond scared right now. I don’t know what to do anymore.

“Put the gun down. If you hurt her-”

“You’ll what?! Kill me?” He scoffed in mockery. “If I kill her, I’ll kill myself afterwards. You think I’ll just willingly give her to you? So you two have a wonderful happy ending? Oh, Veselov. You will never have her cause you know why? She’s mine.” He kissed my cheek all the way to the side of my lips. I tried to evade him but he held me still.

Nile fell for his incitement and took threatening steps towards us. It was enough for Jacob to shift the gun towards Nile.

In a moment of fear and impulsion, I moved to grab his arm and put down the gun. I knew in that small second he’s too busy provoking Nile so I moved. I assumed he waited for the moment that he would kill him instead. I don’t know if he’d really shoot him when he pointed at him but I wanted to prevent it from ever happening as much as possible.

I believe what I did was dumb and impulsive but I didn’t want him to hurt Nile. I just can’t. He already hurt Silena. I will never be able to forgive myself if Jacob did anything to harm him.

Jacob was caught off guard when I moved. He was shocked that I was able to break free from his grasp. I heard Nile and Colton shouting my name from behind.

When I tried to put down the gun, he averted and held his gun firmly. I was shaken off from the force and stumbled back. He scowled at my attempt. I gulped in fear.

He glances to the side when he notices Colton sneaking behind him. I immediately moved to stop him as I saw his arm raising it towards Colton.

My best friend froze, raising his hands when he saw Jacob pointing the gun at him. “Move, my love or your friend here will die.”

I stilled. “Please, Jacob. Let him go.” I begged.

“I suggest you don’t move as well, Veselov, you know what’s gonna happen.”

I heard Nile grunted behind me in frustration. We felt him. We all couldn’t do anything about this situation.

“Jacob, please.” I cried.

“If you don’t want anything bad to happen, love, I assume you know what to do.” He spoke with his hand steady on Colton.

I closed my eyes in frustration and fear. My tears couldn’t stop falling. It made everything blurry.

I slowly took steps towards him. “That’s it.”

“Kura, no!” Nile screamed. I heard his fear for me.

“I suggest you be quiet, Veselov.” He warned curtly.

He immediately wrapped his other arm around my waist when I was near him. He guided me to start walking. I couldn’t stop crying. This is probably the first time I cried so hard like I wanted to bawl on the top of my lungs.

“Both of you move or I have to blow one of your brains out, got that?” He was pointing his gun, shifting at either of them.

I watched as they froze helplessly. Colton looked like he was about to cry. Nile’s eyes were on fire. He looked like he’s going to burn everything just to get me. It hurts when I see them both like this.

Why does this man have to exist in our lives? Why can’t I just love a man quietly and peacefully?

I asked myself this as we both turned and Jacob started dragging me from god knows where.

The next moment, I was suddenly pulled away from Jacob. He was caught off guard when Nile suddenly came to him and punched him real hard in the face.

Colton was behind me supporting me. We hugged as I felt relieved and thankful that he got me.

Nile did a number on him before Jacob could fought back. The two brawled, Nile having the upperhand because of his first few hits. Jacob’s nose and lips were bleeding.

We froze when he suddenly pointed a gun at Nile when he turned. We realized he had two guns. The other one he was holding was thrown off when Nile managed to hit him.

Colton instantly went in front of me and covered me with his body.

“I guess you want this the hard way then.” He said threateningly.

We were shocked even more when he shifted it towards Colton. He then grabbed my hand and held it tightly. The gesture almost distracted me but I was quick to move to cover him.

I stepped out from behind and hugged him, confident that Jacob would not kill me.

I thought wrong.

It was quiet after the ear splitting sound. Everything came so fast. Colton’s eyes were wide as he stared at me in shock. His arms secured tightly around me as I slumped to him.

I then blacked out after hearing Nile screamed my name.
