Alpha Maseno
My lips curled up into a smile when I watched as the red truck left my pack and drove toward Alpha Benna's. Poor thing; he must by now be pacing around his office and wrecking his brain apart, wondering what kind of gift I had bought him.
I hadn't bought the gifts; he was the one who sent them to me, and I kind of decorated them. “Don't forget to tell me if you like them. If you don't, I'll make sure that they will have perfect decorations next time.“ I recorded a message and sent it to him.
“Have any of you heard of Maria yet?“ I turned to ask my men. I have looked everywhere and searched every hideout outside the mansion, but she was nowhere to be seen.
“Not yet, but the good thing is that she isn't kidnapped. She is somewhere hiding inside the house, and we are trying our best to locate her.“ The head guard responded. Thank goodness they had the same thoughts as me.
“Good. In the meantime, send someone to keep an eye on Alpha Benna. Don't forget to send some of our men to ruin a few of his businesses as well. He has started this ruining game, and I'll make sure that I'll be the one to end it.“ I added.
“We already did that. His largest pub is already set to fire. It's all over the news already since he has suffered a huge loss." The guy smirked and passed over a tablet to me. I read the breaking news, and my eyes lit up with excitement. "You shouldn't have started this game, Benna." I thought, then handed over the tablet back to the guard.
“With this, he will think twice before trying anything toward me." I put my hands deep into my trouser pockets. Turning to the assistant guard, I inquired, "Have you found out who the spies are that Benna has planted in our pack?“
“I am still on it, Alpha.“ He bowed slightly.
“Can you speed up? We don't have enough time. I don't want to believe what Beta Kelvin said, but I can't ignore his words either. Just see if you can find the two spies he talked about.“ I urged him.
"May I talk, Alpha?" Another guard asked.
"Go ahead." I waved my hand at him and focused my gaze at my phone. Sony had sent a message. It seemed like he had a little birdie in the kingdom who had already told him what had transpired. There were numerous texts from our collaborators as well, wanting to know if the attack was serious so that they could send their own soldiers.
There were multiple calls from my dad and granddad too. It shocked me how fast the media is these days. It was already all over that my kingdom was under attack, and just like usual, they had exaggerated. They were saying that half of my men were already killed, while I was seriously injured and hospitalized.
“Beta Kelvin called in the morning and told us that we would be attacked today. We didn't take it seriously, and look at what happened. We are attacked just like he said." The guards voice jarred me from my thoughts.
“What are you implying?“ I asked without raising my head from the phone. I was trying to convince my dad that I wasn't hurt anywhere. Damn whoever told him that the doctors said that due to the blow—which was a lie—on my head, there was a high percent chance that I may slip into a coma.
“He might be telling the truth about these spies as well.“ He responded.
I shoved the phone in my pocket, focused my gaze on him, and asked, "Is there anything else he said?"
"Yes." He bubbled his head up and down in agreement.
“Let me see.“ I stretched my hand to take his phone. I read the message and furrowed my brows in confusion. The message read, “The spies in your kingdom are people who are close to Maseno. People he will never suspect since he regards them as a family.“
“Because of that, I was wondering if we should keep an eye on all the people who are close to you.“ The guard suggested forcing my gaze to tear from the phone's screen to him.
“It will create a misunderstanding when they know that I was keeping an eye on them.“ I replied. How weird will it look? For years, I haven't kept an eye on people who are close to me, so how would I start doing it all of a sudden? There was a high chance that Beta Kelvin wanted me to do this so that a rift would be created between me and my family.
“We will make sure that we won't be caught, Alpha.“ The guard assured me.
I paced around, trying to put his words into consideration. There was a part of me that wanted me to let the guards do just that, but there was a part of me that didn't want me to go ahead with that. It was true, though. The spies may be people close to me who know that no matter what, I will never think of them as the culprits.
Turning to the head guard, I hummed in agreement, "Do it then, and don't care about being careful. Whoever will feel offended, it's none of your business, but before that, make sure that you have located Maria's whereabouts and that she and the baby are safe too. I don't want miscarriages.“
Alpha Benna's men had confessed that none of them had kidnapped Maria. It's from them that I learned that her real name was Kiara. I had heard it before, the day I saw those two men running after her, but I had completely forgotten it.
After watching my guards retreat outside, I took out my phone and made phone calls to my dad, granddad, and then Sony, who was glad that nothing had happened to me. I didn't tell him about Maria's disappearance either, because I didn't want him to worry too much. He was out of the country, visiting the small companies we were investing in, and I didn't want to distract him.
After a while, I followed my guard's suit but then thought otherwise.
I walked back to the house, took a quick shower, and changed clothes from office attire to casual wear since my next destination was at Doctor Maria's office. I wanted to ask her if there was any chance she could help Maria regain her memories. It was high time she did it because I needed some information from her regarding Alpha Benna. It was high time I brought him down because asking his men where Maria was was like confessing that I was with her in my kingdom.
I knew that Alpha Benna wouldn't stop attacking until he had her, and the last thing I wanted was for him to get hold of my baby.
“It's time for a war.“ I said it inwardly while making my way to the garage. I decided not to take any guards with me today because, after all, there was no one I could trust. Those two spies may be some of my men as well, because, after all, they are close to me, and I regard them as family. I made up my mind that from then on, I will do everything on my own without getting anyone involved until the day I caught them!
