Doctor Kedeva
Reaching the gate, we met a truck driving in.
Kiara being curious, as she has been since a kid, I heard her asking her wolf to stop running and see who was inside the truck.
“You can't be serious, princess. Do you want Benna to catch up with you again?“ I asked while alert at the back of my wolf's head.
“I am only curious. Can we move on?“ She asked, and when I hummed in response, she said to her wolf, 'Keep running, Raika. Remember, it's now your turn to save me.“
Raika howled loudly, attracting the attention of the men in the truck who were waiting for the guard to open the gate for them.
My wolf and hers didn't miss the men's curious eyes on them as they gasped and pointed at us. They were obviosly shocked that they were seeing pure gray wolves, the kinds who have never been seen.
“Why is your wolf exactly like mine, though?" Kiara asked when our wolves slowed down. We were out of Alpha Benna's territory, and there was no way they would catch up with us.
“Why don't we talk about that when we find somewhere to sit and relax?" I responded and asked my wolf to take us to my usual place.
My usual was a home-like cave, which I discovered years ago when I was out for a run. Anytime I needed some alone time, I always let my wolf take over and take me there.
The reason I had never gone there in my human form was because I had never been sure what kind of danger I might encounter.
Although my scent was all over the place, it had no power to stop vicious enemies from hiding themselves in there and launching their attack on me.
My wolf has the ability to smell from afar, and that's why I trusted him to lead me there.
My wolf looked ahead and got sight of Raika hoping around. She had run ahead of us and was jumping around, wriggling her tail like a puppy who had just learned how to walk.
She even released excited whimpers and ran to the nearby river, where she looked at her reflection in the water.
“You'll never change, princess, will you?“ I asked, but not to her, but to myself, and asked my wolf to folow her behind slowly in case anything happened.
Our long escape journey had taken us near the woods, and we couldn't tell which danger might be lurking there.
“Do you think we should tell her?“ My wolf asked me.
I knitted my brows and then responded, ''I don't think this is a good time. I also don't know how she is going to react.“
“What do you mean you don't know how she is going to react?“ My wolf asked while walking under a shade and taking a rest.
“You know of the fact that I've always been in her head. So many times, I have heard her ask herself about me. She had always tried to figure out if I was disappointed with her or if there was anything else that caused me to not return to her. The thing is, I've always been here with her, but as a different person."
“You are afraid she may never forgive you if she realizes that?“ My wolf asked what I didn't want to say.
“Yeah,” I replied in a voice barely above a whisper. I am afraid she may never forgive me, and the only thing I want from her is forgiveness.“
Before my wolf could respond back to me, a panicky growl made him jolt out of his sitting position, perking his ears in the direction of where the growl came from. “Do you think your princess is in danger? I don't see her where she was.“ He asked me.
Sniff her, follow her scent, or something.“ I responded, feeling panic wear over me. I wanted to shift back into my human form, but I knew that I couldn't do that in case she was in serious danger. I really hate these woods; it's only that they were the only way I would get to sneak my princess out of this troubled life and finally let her get the peace she deserves.
“I think I know what happened.“ My wolf said this, pulling me out of my unconscious state of mind.
“What? Is she attacked?“ I asked, knowing that if she were to be harmed in any way, I would blame myself for the rest of my life.
I know that this is the first time she is letting her wolf out in her life, yet I choose to let them roam around without care.
“You don't need to blame yourself for this. She isn't attacked.“ My wife assured me.
“If she isn't attacked, what's happening then? Can you tell me what the fuck is happening out there? Or is there another group of wolves there?“ I asked in one breath.
“No. Raika fell into the river, and she doesn't know how to swim. I'll help her, though.“ My wolf responded and ran to take a plunge into the river.
Five minutes later, he had gently gripped Raika's neck using his sharp, elongated fangs and helped her out of the water. Kiara quickly took over her wolf and started coughing out some water.
I also took over my wolf and walked back under the tree where he was resting and grabbed the bag we had carried with us. In it, I had kept some spare clothes since I knew we'd need them when we shift into our human forms.
Raika was backing me, so I handed over a flowing sky blue dress to her, white sneakers, and a pair of blue undies before getting dressed as well.
“Done?“ I asked and then turned to face her. I found her already dressed and waiting for me to get done as well.
“Long ago.“ She smiled, lifting her hands in the air.
“Let's go for some wild fruits, and then I'll teach Raika how to swim, okay?“ I asked, wanting to get her permission first.
She snapped her head toward the woods, and with fear almost gripping her eyes, she asked, “Won't Alpha Benna's guards find us?“
"No, they won't. These clothes we are wearing will help us mask our scents. They'll never find us.“ I assured her and pulled her into a hug, kissing her forehead.
“Why do you always help me, though?“ She asked, raising her head to look at me.
Here we were again. With these innocent baby blue eyes looking at me like this, would I be able to lie? I asked myself as I ran my fingers through her hair.
“Do you really want to know, princess?“ I asked her.
She nodded.
