Alpha Maseno
“What's a lie? I thought you were asked not to take her. Don't you guys understand?“ I asked while making my way towards Alpha Benna's men. “Who did this to her?“ I asked when I neared them.
They all stepped behind and left a bulky man who was holding Kiara in front.
“So, you are the one who did it, right?“ I asked, a smirk playing on my lips. Before he could respond, I gave him one reasonable slap across the face that made his canines come out.
The others moved backwards, ready to run away, but my men, who were waiting, were on standby just in case they attempted to run and chase them. I snapped a finger at my men, and they all knew what to do.
Forcefully, they dragged Alpha Benna's men to the truck and kept them there. I wanted to use them for something, and I wasn't going to let them go until I did just that.
“We are done, Alpha,” one of my men said after he was down, taking all of them.
“Alright, you can take all of them with you. I'll be right behind you.“ I told them.
I also made sure that Kiara was taken to the ambulance, which I had called when I saw Kiara in that condition. Walking toward Beta Kelvin, I patted him in the back and said, ''Thank you for alerting me.“
He scoffed, then rolled his eyes at me. ''You believe me, know?“
I chuckled. ''It's just that you never gave me a reason to trust you; that's why. But I trust you, I promise.“
“I don't care.“ He responded, then started walking away.
I stopped him. Let me take you out of here as a thank you. I mean, how will you get out of here if you don't let me help you?“
“I'll get out of here the same way I came.“ He rolled his eyes at me, shifted into his wolf form, and ran away.
Shaking my head, I walked toward my car and zoomed away. I drove straight to the hospital where Kiara was hospitalized. I found Miss Olivia and Carlos there with her.
I had already told them that Kiara was on the way to the hospital and that they should get there before her.
“The doctor is not out yet. We still don't know what happened,” Miss Olvia said, her voice barely above a whisper. I know she was scared, and deep down, I knew she was blaming me for all that. It's just that she didn't want to say it.
“Don't worry, Miss Olivia; believe me when I say that Kiara will be okay.“ I tried to assure her, even though deep down I was also scared.
This time, it looked worse. She had deep cuts on her body and bruises, and she had lost so much blood. The doctor said it was a miracle she hadn't died and that we should cross our fingers for good luck. They did promise to try their best.
“There is something I would like to show you.“ Miss Olvia's voice jarred me from my thoughts. I turned my head to face her, nodding to urge her to show me.
“When Kiara suddenly disappeared, I and Carlos decided to look for anything in her room that would help her trace her, but we found this instead." She opened the backpack she had kept Kiara's clothes in and pulled out a gray, faraway file.
“What's this?“ I asked while stretching my hand to take it from her. “This is Kiara's. When we first brought her here, Beta Kelvin sent this to me and said I should give it to her,” I said when I remembered where I had seen it.
“Did you look what was inside?“ Carlos chimed in to ask. The first time he was talking to me since Kiara disappeared from the hospital He was mad at the fact that I never cared to look for her.
I was devastated. I had just lost my partner and my unborn baby, so everything was a mess for me. I suddenly wanted to stop leaving but decided I wouldn't let that thought get over me until the day I am down, avenging Sony and my unborn baby.
“I am talking to you, Maseno." Carlos tapped my shoulder to get me back into reality.
"No, I didn't. He said that it was her manuscript, and I thought that maybe I shouldn't check it out in case she wouldn't like it. What is it about?“ I asked with curiosity, attempting to get the best of me.
“That's more than a manuscript. That file holds all the evidence you have been looking for against Alpha Benna—not just him, but also the one you didn't want to agree that he's a bad guy. Open it!“ Miss Olivia urged me.
Suddenly, I opened the file and read the first page. I peruse through it, trying to read all the words at the same time and looking for what Miss Olvia has said. “I don't see any evidence. Just writings and nothing else,” I said to them.
Miss Olvia sighed, rolled her eyes at me, and then responded,You didn't reach the last page yet, did you? You aren't even half way through the file.“
“Whatever!“ I mumbled and continued to peruse through it's pages.
It was the middle pages where I saw what they had been trying to tell me. “We should get his published.“ I suggested, and they nodded in agreement.
"I'll give this to you, then, Miss Olvia. What I'll do is contact the publishing house, and then you'll take the manuscript to them. When they ask about the other, just tell them that she isn't available for now, but she will once it's published.“
Miss Olvia nodded in agreement. I closed my eyes and sighed, knowing that I was only a step ahead of getting rid of Alpha Benna forever.
That would be a chance to avenge the deaths of my son and my unborn baby. It's not only me who will get rededicated once the book becomes best-selling, but Kiara as well, who has been trying to expose him to the world for a really long time now.
“What are you going to do about Doctor Kedeva?“ Carlos's voice jarred me back into reality.
“I really don't know. All this time, he has been nothing to me but a brother. I have done all he wanted. I agreed to share my parents love with him when he was young, and this is how he repays me. By taking my mother's, unborn son's, and my boyfriend's lives."I asked no one in particular while chuckling bitterly.
“But he is surely going to regret ever knowing me in his screwed, goddamned life,” I whispered.
