Chapter 40 Chapter Thirty Seven
Chapter Thirty Seven
'Remember our for better or for worse vows, will you stand by them now and be with me for better or worse or will you would desert me and watch our union break and shatter?'
***************************
Pearson Airport,
Toronto,
Canada.
Amanda.
Amanda clenched and unclenched her fists for the umpteenth time, her nails were digging into her palm forming crescent signs already. Her nervousness was apparent to her companion but at the moment she didn't care.
She would be seeing Denola and her daughter in a few moments.
"Haba Hassana, the world is not ending. Relax, your husband and your daughter are fine. You've been fidgeting since we got here" Halima said a little amused and more worried at Amanda's behaviour.
Amanda sighed and looked at her sister. She couldn't relax, she hadn't seen Kamila for a while, everyone in Nigeria believed her dead and she couldn't forget what Denola had said to her the last time she had seen him.
'You had a freaking choice Aman...Hassana or whoever the hell you are. You could have told me the truth before we got intimate, I would have helped you. You wouldn't even be here now. Instead you used me, you did a lot of things that I ignored because I thought I loved you but thank God for Jadesola and my mother. I can finally see who you really are, you're a selfish, deceitful liar. We're going to get Kamila and leave for Canada tomorrow, once we get you to safety and get troubled waters to lie still....we're going to get a divorce'
Ever since he said those words, she'd been wondering if he would truly leave her. He had a lot of reasons to, nobody would fault him. Her heart stopped for a moment as she imagined them living apart and juggling Kamila. She was truly afraid, she'd lived with Denola for so long that it was hard to imagine life without him.

Several nights ago,
Lagos.
Amanda.
Amanda couldn't hold back the tears that streamed down her face as she walked out of the house. Just some weeks ago, everything had been rosy between them but now everything was wilting. Everything was wilting because of her lies and betrayal.
She'd ruined her marriage, she was losing the love of her life because she'd hurt him and there was no way to retract everything she'd done since the day she committed to him.
If only she could go back, if only she could turn back the hands of time and fix everything. Then she'd be true to him, then she would bare herself to him. Denola was right, if she'd come clean with him from the very beginning, all these could have been avoided.
Now there was no turning back, she orchestrated her ruin and she had to face it by herself. Everything she'd planned from day one was crashing to the ground. Her new identity, her new home, her security. Kadin, her worst nightmare would surface any moment from now.
She knew Kadin better than anyone in that room, Kadin was a sandstorm, an earthquake, a freaking disaster, where ever he arrives, he'd destroy everything in his path.
He wouldn't stop until he'd wrecked everyone, she'd endangered everyone by leading him here.
She could just give up now and go back, admit defeat and return to Kadin. She would grovel at his feet and beg for his forgiveness for the sake of Denola, his family and their daughter.
Kamila would be loved and cherished by the Mayfairs anyways. She immediately halted her train of thoughts, her daughter was not even a year old and here she was thinking of abandoning her.
She couldn't leave Kamila, she'd abandoned one daughter before and there was no day she didn't regret leaving Jemila, even if she'd done it to protect her.
She wrapped her arms around herself as she shivered both from the cold and the terror that was gripping her this moment as she sobbed.
'Get it together Sans' she could almost hear Davina whispering to her.
Oh Davina....where are you when I need you?
Her eyes widened as she realized that she had asked Davina to wait outside with the baby but they were nowhere to be found.
"Oh my God, I have to find them and..." she was saying when a hand clamped over her mouth.
She struggled and tried to break free but another hand covered her nose with a handkerchief.
Her eyes widened as she realized what was happening. The handkerchief must be laced with some drug and soon she'd pass out.
She tried to scream but every sound she made sounded more like squeaks than screams.
"Shut up, If you make any more sound...you'll die" the voice threatened.
Her eyes dulled as she slipped in and out of consciousness.
Aliu....she recognized the voice. It was Kadin's minion.
He probably had Davina and her baby. It was over......
*******
Hours Later,
Millary Hotels and Suites,
Lagos.
Amanda gasped as she became conscious, she looked at the ceiling for a while trying to grasp where she was and why she was there until she finally remembered Aliu.
'Oh my God' she gasped, her hands flew to her mouth and her eyes watered.
Aliu had kidnapped her and had probably hurt Davina and Kamila. Tears ran down her eyes as fear gripped her. Since Aliu had kidnapped her, it only meant one thing.
Kadin had her already.
She sat up suddenly, her fists clenched, furious that she had once again ruined her life.
No....no...no....this time she was going to fight Kadin to death if she had to but she was no way in hell going to be held captive again.
She studied her surroundings, she was definitely in a hotel and that meant they hadn't left lagos.
She stood up immediately, she could do this, Kadin most definitely wouldn't want to draw attention to himself outside his turf.
She could actually fight him and escape, her eyes wandered about until it settled on a lamp on the bedside.
A weapon perhaps? She quickly grabbed it and rushed to the door but as she guessed it was locked from outside somehow.....
'God this can't be the end.....please... Please' she muttered to herself.
Maybe someone was searching for her, maybe Denola. He was mad at her, yes but he had to be worried, yes, how long had she been unconscious anyway?
Her eyes quickly darted up to the clock on the wall. It was two am in the morning, apparently not long enough to cause an alarm.
She was on her own now, she thought biting her lips nervously.
As if on cue, she heard the jingle of keys and movement on the other side of the door. Great, she held the lamp above her head and was prepared to attack the intruder the minute the door opened.
Her breath hitched as the door came open but shock almost choked her when she saw Hakeem.
'Hakeem?' she breathed out in shock.
'Woah woah woah Ninja, put that down. I come in peace' Hakeem said holding up his hand.
Amanda dropped the lamp immediately because she trusted Hakeem and she knew that even if he hated her, he'd never betray Denola.
'What's going on...Where's Kadin?' she asked her voice shook with fear.
'Kadin? He's in his hotel probably signing your divorce papers by now' Hakeem shrugged.
Amanda looked at him, face painted with tears and confusion. 'What are you talking about, what divorce papers?' she asked.
'Aliu left to get him to sign your divorce papers, he wouldn't know what it is anyway. He trusts Aliu with his life, so he'll just sign away without checking anything' Hakeem said and for a second Amanda wondered if he was mad or maybe she was the mad one.
Hadn't Aliu drugged and kidnapped her hours ago?
'And if you're wondering how you filed for a divorce, Denola's lawyer arranged it all, money and connections will get you a lot of favors in this part of the world' Hakeem smirked.
'Denola....Aliu...divorce...Hakeem what are you on about? Aliu drugged me, I..I...I was standing outside the house one minute and the next.....I don't understand what's going on?' Amanda asked confused.
'Sorry about drugging you, We had to get you out of Mayfair somehow. Aliu is on our side, Denola and I. We made plans to outsmart Kadin, get you out of the country quickly and get Kadin in jail' Hakeem explained.
'What?!' Amanda asked even more confused than before. 'What are you talking about?' Amanda asked.
Hakeem smiled bitterly 'Denola found out some of your secrets while you two were in South Africa, he confided in me and I told him the rest. We recruited Aliu to help us out. We'll talk more about this when you're out of the country, I'm here to take you to the airport' he said.
Amanda's lips parted in shock. 'How come he didn't confront me?' she wondered out loud.
Hakeem shook his head 'How could he trust you?' he asked.
Amanda nodded painfully. 'For what it's worth, I hope you know you've lost a good man. I hope you win him back Amanda, I hope you do' Hakeem said.
Her heart broke again inside of her.
