Chapter 11

"Why do you still eat like a kid? You have breadcrumbs on your mouth" He said, taking me aback as I checked my mouth on the rear view mirror to be sure he wasn't teasing me or something but he was right! I had milk and breadcrumbs in my mouth, I sighed as I dipped my hand into my bag bringing out my handkerchief and gently dabbed the crumbs off.

"Thank you…" I mumbled which he ignored, focused on the driveway, the drive was crazily quiet only the noise from the traffic could be heard, I looked out through the closed window trying to entertain myself but it wasn't working! Edde didn't help at all, he didn't bother playing music in the stereo system and I dare not ask him to.

An idea struck my head as I took out my phone. I hadn't texted Mel about how the pizza palace was going and this boring situation turned out to be the best time to chat with her.

"Mel what's up?…" I texted waiting for her reply but she didn't reply for minutes… Well she is definitely busy right now.

Soon we got to the hospital as Edde carefully drove into the parking lot and turned off his ignition switch, coming down from the car I took a deep breath… "Elizabeth, hold my hand" Edde's masculine authoritative voice came from behind as I looked down at his hand wondering why he wanted me to hold his hand.

"I don't want to…"

"You do not have a choice hence you're with me!…" He said forcefully gripping my hand tightly as I squealed in pain walking and missing my steps behind him.

"Edde let go! You're hurting me!" I said trying to pull away from his grip but it seemed like the more I tried the more he tightened his grip.

Getting to the hospital lobby he released me from his arrogant grip which left his fingerprint around my wrist.

"You didn't have to do that!" I hissed slightly, raising my voice more like a whisper in order not to attract the attention of the patients waiting around in the lobby.

"My father is here already so try your best to act like all is well between us… Now peacefully hold my hand, you know your act determines what the internet will say" I hesitantly took his hand as we walked down the lobby, I could see people pointing at us and saying words while some took pictures.

I wasn't quite comfortable with the cameras on us knowing that the pictures will be used on gossip blogs but seeing that Edde Loxley didn't seem to care I also ignored them heads up to wherever Reluc Loxley was.

"Oh here comes my young couple" Mr Reluc said standing from the chair he sat on walking towards us with a smile on his face, the word Couple he called I and Edde took me aback but I decided not to see it as something anyways… He gave me a quick peck on getting to us and gave Edde a quick hug which he didn't react well to. "Why didn't you pimp yourself a little before coming out Elizabeth, you look too shabby to be on camera you know? People definitely have taken pictures of you both" Mr Reluc said, using his palms to smoothen my hair. I found his act uncomfortable and quite weird even if I knew that he was only trying to help.

"Dad, can we go in now?" Edde said, sounding exhausted.

"oh yes definitely, the Doctor is waiting… But Elizabeth you really should be conscious of your look always huh?" He said as I nodded slightly, walking behind him into the doctor's office.

We took our sits facing the negro doctor…

"Miss Elizabeth Albie and Mr Edde Loxley if you don't mind I will like to take some of your blood for the test" the doctor said raising his brows at us as I nodded my head, turning to Edde I could see that he didn't want the DNA TEST he was uncomfortable but still he hesitantly nodded as the doctor took out two new strings from the wrap.

I kinda had a phobia for strings but in order not to embarrass myself I shut my eyes and let the doctor draw out my blood as he had done to Edde.

"I will call one of the nurses to come take the bloods and conduct the test…" The doctor said not referring to anyone in particular as he punched the telephone….

The doctor's office turned out extremely quiet once the doctor was busy going through files, Edde's focus was on his phone while Mr Reluc read the football magazine on his hand Elizabeth being weirdly bored and uncomfortable played with her hair hence she had nothing fun to do with her phone, Melanie is her only friend so she literally had no one to chat with.

The door cracked open as the middle aged nurse came in with papers on her hand which she handed to the doctor, without reading them the doctor shifted it to Edde. Edde looked up at the doctor Wondering why he gave him the test result as he hesitantly tried to take it but Mr Reluc Loxley was fast enough to take it first.

Reading through it Mr Reluc smiled "Edde, I am finally gonna get a Grandson!" He exclaimed in excitement that Kinda embarrassed Elizabeth… What if it turned out to be a grand-daughter, she never wanted to make her pregnancy known publicly but as it was going she knew that she was definitely gonna be announced.

Edde sighed deeply standing from the chair, obviously angry about the whole situation he couldn't imagine himself to fit into being called 'DADDY' or the responsibilities in it.

Knowing that his father had threatened to take his inheritance from him if he didn't Get married to Elizabeth frustrated him the most, at that point he knew that there was no going back for him.

Edde stood by his car impatiently waiting for Elizabeth, if only he knew that just a one night stand with Elizabeth will get him into such a big mess he would have terminated the pregnancy earlier before it got to his father's Ears.

Mr Reluc Loxley was a 'NO NONSENSE' man and Edde knew better than to take his words for a Joke he would do just anything to save his position and reputation… There is no way he is letting a commoner take over Brigitte EVER!.

"Edde, why did you leave the doctor's office in such a manner!? Do you wish to give him the wrong idea of the whole situation? Maybe you want him to spread news that you got a Lady pregnant and do not want to take responsibility…" Reluc said walking hand in hand with Elizabeth towards him.

"That's past now Dad, I really have to go home now… Elizabeth get into the car" He said coldly as she gently disengaged from her hold with Reluc and entered the car.

"Edde, do not forget to talk to her about our plans!…" Reluc called out as Edde ignored him entering the car with a long face, he hadn't yet figured out the best way to tell Elizabeth to marry him. It was gonna be so weird and he feared that she would reject him.

The drive back home was as quiet as usual, Elizabeth felt so uncomfortable with him that she just wanted to leave his presence.

"Please drop me at Barbara Pizza palace" Elizabeth said almost in a whisper but luckily he heard it and pulled a stop right in front of the shop "Thank you…" She mumbled and stepped down slamming the door shut as she watched Edde's car drive off in full speed.

She took in a deep breath and walked into the shop to see Melanie taking off her work dress. She wondered why she was taking them off when it obviously wasn't closing time yet.

"Hey Melanie what is up?" She asked once she got to her, Mel was quite surprised to see her and immediately Gave her a quick hug.

"Etta how are you? You look pale kinda… How was the test?" Mel asked, taking her bag from the rack as they both walked out together.

"It turned out positive indeed" Elizabeth simply replied as she signed deeply not wanting to remember Edde's reaction to the test result "by the way, why did you close so earlier? It's just… 2:41pm"

"Well, as it is you have a colleague now so you both will be working in shifts"

"That better anyways, I might ask Mrs Barbara to give me the evening shift instead hence I wake up late these days" Elizabeth said as Mel nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, you need less stress… Uhm, I didn't come with my car so I will call an Uber to take us home" Mel said, turning her phone on.

"I will pay for our ride…"

Sitting under an umbrella tree and waiting for their ride to arrive Elizabeth couldn't stop thinking of Edde, her heart felt heavy with tears as she fought with her emotion not to get weak over some playboy.

"Mel, do you think I am forcing my pregnancy on Edde?…" Elizabeth asked as Melanie turned to her in surprise as to why she asked such a question.

Melanie scoffed "what do you mean by that Etta? You're making him take responsibility for what he caused, you ain't forcing your pregnancy on him or do you want to let go of him and deprive your baby the right of having a dad?" Mel raises her brows at Elizabeth, she shakes her head negatively, she didn't get much love from her father as she wished and she wouldn't like to have her baby go through the same…

"But Edde seems to be disgusted by my presence and also hates me so much, I don't think he will love my baby" The thought of that alone triggered Elizabeth's tears, she couldn't imagine watching her child being maltreated by her Dad or never seeing him at all.

All she wanted from Edde was for him to accept her baby and Take care of the child. She wouldn't care if he visited or not but at the same time she would like him to visit just for the sake of the child.

"Etta his feelings towards you doesn't matter anyways, you both don't love each other so… Fuck his feelings! And for the baby? Edde will love your baby I am sure of that" Mel said rubbing her laps softly "You can also report him if he tries pressurizing you into doing things you don't wish to do… Our ride is here" Mel said, sighting the white cab.
