Chapter 3
Chapter 3
“So, who was that blue skinned girl from earlier?”
“Mira Akabane. The youngest daughter of the current Demon Lord. She’s pretty strong.”
“Stronger than that saintess?”
“Yeah. She’s the current strongest in our year.”
“And where do you rank?”
“I’m the third strongest for now.”
So, this Hero is weaker than that bum Saintess and the Demon Lord’s youngest?
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“..Like what?”
“Like how I was looking at some the nobles in my class after I told them to come at me all at once and they went down in 3 hits.
It’s the expression like you’re looking at someone who you think isn’t as strong as they should be.”
“…Why are you weaker than that bum saintess?”
After I asked that question, Zary’s eyes started sparkling and she was grinning. …..But why though?
“I knew you were strong but, the way you talk about Sena as if she’s some kind of weakling is making me realize that you’re even stronger than I was thinking. I definitely have to fight you!”
“But you just admitted to being weaker than her.”
“All the more reason I have to fight you! Whenever I fight someone on the same level as me it’s always an easy win. I have to fight people stronger than me for it to even be a challenge! So Kurai, I’m begging you! FIGHT ME!”
“Fine whatever, I’ll fight you tomorrow during one of the classes that allow it.”
After hearing my answer Zary jumped with both hands in the air and shouted “YES!”
Guess the doors in this dorm are soundproof considering no one’s coming out to complain about the noise.
While I was thinking that, Zary jumped towards me wrapping me in a tight bear hug with her chin resting on my shoulder.
…soft
“I can’t wait for tomorrow.”

Giren was the type of kid who liked to play with sticks pretending they were swords. He liked them so much to the point that he started liking them more than real swords.
His father who was a blacksmith didn’t quite care for his son’s interests, so he started breaking all the sticks Giren brought home to play with until one day Giren brought home a wooden sword that his father couldn’t break.
He tried everything he could think of, his hands, feet, stones, fire, even real swords, but none of those could break Giren’s wooden sword.
After giving up on breaking it his father finally asked where he got the wooden sword.
Giren told him that he just carved it out of some extra firewood.
His father didn’t believe him so right before his father’s eyes he carved another wooden sword out a random piece of wood lying around, and it was just as durable as the first one despite the fact that the piece of wood used was noting special.
A few years after that Ashley invited him to join Sword Fein Academy as a student after hearing about his wooden swords.
It’s been decades since then and now Giren has become a teacher at the Academy. The wooden Swords class teacher to be exact.
In his class students only do two things: practice duels with wooden swords and learn how to carve wooden swords.
And right now on this sunny Tuesday morning standing face to face in his class with 2 Wooden Swords gripped firmly in each of their right hands were two female students.
The only two who wear pants as part of their uniforms.
One was wearing a buttoned-up blazer, the other was wearing a long black coat with scales on it instead of the blazer.
One was the Hero, the other was a new student.
“That red hair kinda looks familiar”
“Yeah. Isn’t she from the Akakiri family?”
“But wasn’t their family’s daughter already enrolled in Magic Sage Academy?”
“This must be the other daughter then.”
“But didn’t the other daughter die in a dungeon last month?”
“Well, she’s not the first noble who faked their death in order to come here.”
“Why’s she about to fight the hero though?”
“That hero pick fights with everyone.”
“For real”
“She’s even more annoying than that excuse of a saintess.”
A hand immediately came flying towards the back of the head of the student who just said that.
The hand sent the student flying across the outdoor classroom’s floor.
The whole class went silent. Everyone looked to the direction where the sound of impact came from, and there they saw a sight they hadn’t seen since the first day of school.
The saintess attending a class.
“The next one of you I hear talking shit about me ain’t getting off as easily as that one on the floor.”
The student who got sent flying slowly stood up clutching the back of his head glaring at the saintess.
“Got something else to say?”
Instead of responding the student just kept glaring at her then sharply turn his head away walking back towards his group of friends.
After watching the show Giren clapped once for everyone to hear.
“Alright time to pay attention to the duel.”
Everyone’s eyes went back to staring at the hero and the daughter of the Akakiri family.
“Begin!”
And with that they both leapt towards each other swinging their wooden swords faster than the sound of the actual swing.
When their swords connected it sounded like 2 large pieces of orichalcum clashing.
It generated a shock wave that knocked everyone in the class off their feet excluding Giren, the saintess and the demon lord’s daughter.
===
After colliding wooden swords with Zary, I pulled my arm back and swung at her again.
She blocked my strike with her sword, but the impact sent her flying across the field.
I swung the sword at thin air generating another shockwave that flew towards Zary.
Her wooden sword started to emit a bright yellow light; she then swung it at the shockwave and somehow sliced it in two.
I’m probably not one to talk but how do you slice a shockwave in half?
Also, why’s she still smiling? Is this really that fun for her? That smile hasn’t left her face since I agreed to fight her yesterday.
Well, if it’s that fun for her, I might as well continue.
And so, I swung my sword 67 times in under a second sending that many more shockwaves in Zary’s direction.
Her smile turned into a massive grin as she proceeded to slice through every last one of them, then she swung in my direction launching a big yellow beam slash at me.
So, it’s the same type of energy as that saintess over there. Must be holy mana.
I parried the beam slash launching it up towards the sky then jumped towards Zary with a swing.
She gripped her wooden sword with both hands and blocked my swing but her arms where shaking from the impact.
I started swinging at her rapidly from multiple directions, but she blocked all of them while slowly getting pushed back.
She’s still smiling through all this.
I leapt upwards, gripped the wooden sword with both hands and swung downwards at Zary’s head.
This is probably the first time in this world I’ve held a sword with both hands.
Zary swung her wooden sword upwards to meet mine.
After the swords clashed three things happened: Another shock-wave more powerful than the first one, Zary dropped down on one knee from the impact, and my wooden sword broke. The top half got lodged in the ground behind Zary while the other half was still in my hand.
“I guess this means you won.”
After hearing what I said the smile left Zary’s face for the first time in hours.
“You can’t be serious. There’s no way this fight’s over yet! Hey Mister Giren give her another sword!”
But the teacher didn’t respond. He just kept staring at the broken half of the wooden sword stuck in the ground with a Bewildered look on his face.
The rest of the class was no better.
Everyone else excluding the bum saintess and the blue beauty were looking at me and Zary with their mouths wide open and their eyes bulging out.
So, they really just put the strongest students in the same dorm huh.
In the end we didn’t get to continue the fight. The teacher just made everyone carve wooden swords for the rest of the class.
Though most of the class were still too shocked to focus on crafting, Zary was too busy pouting, the bum saintess fell asleep and Mira just left the class.
The teacher was too focussed on fixing the broken sword to pay attention to the class, so I was basically the only student who was actually carving, or rather I was the only one trying and failing at carving.
After seeing me continue to make mistakes, Zary finally stopped pouting and decided to teach me on the teacher’s behalf.
“Why are you so bad at this?
Are the hands of a noble lady such as yourself really that unaccustomed to manual labour?~”
She’s smiling again.
