Chapter 51: A Confirmation and an Offer

They locked me in a bedroom. I missed Cameron …. It was a few hours from the time they took me here, but it was as if it were days already. What was Cameron doing right now? It was too bad we hadn’t marked each other yet. Otherwise, I could contact him through the mind link. Cameron, where were you?

Someone opened the door. A maid came with a food tray. “Miss, it’s your lunch.”

“Please leave it on the table.”

The maid did what I told her. But before she left the room, I asked her, “Do you hear anything about Beta Cameron?”

The maid shook her head. “Beta Cameron? I’m not sure. Yet I heard we will have a new Luna soon.”

“A new Luna?”

“Yes. Beta Cameron will have the marking ceremony in the Hurricane Dawn Pack with Delta Lisa Shadow. They are a great couple.”

“Do you hear when the marking ceremony will take place?”

“It’s three days from now.”

I said no more because frustration and sadness hit me hard. In three days, Cameron would be Lisa’s. I was afraid though Cameron convinced me it would be only a political marriage. What about Lisa? She was a female, and Cameron was everything many females wanted. What if Lisa fell for him?

Suddenly, I got a headache. I sat on the couch, waiting for the spinning to go away. But it was getting worse, so I closed my eyes and wished the throbbing in my head would go away soon. That was when the door opened again. I didn’t open my eyes as I thought it was the maid again.

“I see the maid sent you the lunch.”

It was Alpha Horace …. What was he doing here?

Then I forced myself to straighten my back and opened my eyes. Alpha Horace was Cameron’s father and our Alpha. Whatever the circumstance was, I needed to be respectful to him.

“Please, eat your meals. Cameron will be angry at me if you are ill.”

I let out a sigh and stood, but even a movement was too much for me. The headache was worse. I almost fell to the floor.

Alpha Horace immediately held my hands. “What happened? Are you ill?”

“My head …. The room is spinning.”

Alpha Horace led me to the couch. “I will summon our Theta to check your condition. Meanwhile, calm yourself.” After a while, he nodded. “The Theta is on the way here.” We talked about nothing afterwards, but then he said, “I didn’t mean to hurt you. But the peace treaty is important for both packs.”

“I understand ….”

“No, you don’t. You are a big distraction for Cameron. Ever since you are with him, he’s like a stranger to me. Before he’s with you, he only thought of the pack and his future as my successor.”

My lips were dry. “I’m sorry. I will try to be a better mate for him in the future.”

“No need to promise me anything. In three days, Cameron will have Lisa as his mate. Everything will be normal again.”

Chill surrounded me. “Then what about me?”

“You will stay here for a while until Cameron and Lisa’s relationship is stable enough. When Cameron has been his old self again, I will consider letting you go, but not before that. You are a threat to our pack.”

“Alpha Horace, I love Cameron. I won’t do anything to harm him.”

Alpha Horace didn’t reply. After a while, there was a knock. Our Theta came and checked my condition.

“When is your monthly flow?” the Theta asked.

I gaped, and suddenly, I knew why the Theta asked about my monthly flow. “I should get it already, but it seems I missed a few days.”

The Theta glanced at Alpha Horace. He cleared his throat. “I may be wrong, but I need to check for all possibilities. The most possible illnesses are gastritis, vertigo, and pregnancy.”

I shook my head slowly. “I have never had gastritis and vertigo.”

“Have you been intimate with someone in the last few weeks?”

I bit my lower lip. “Yes, with my mate,” I whispered.

“I will check you again in a week. If you still have a severe headache, it will be positive that you are pregnant. Meanwhile, please eat well and get enough rest. I will send a few food supplements for you.”

“Thank you, Theta.”

Alpha Horace walked with the Theta outside. I rubbed my flat stomach. Pregnant …. I was sure about that. I would be a mother! In the past life, I was unlucky to get a miscarriage. But I would protect my pup in this life.

Alpha Horace returned to the room. He walked to the table, brought the food tray, and put it on my lap. “Eat your lunch. It’s an order. No matter how much I dislike your influence on Cameron, you have my grandpup in your womb now. Please take good care of yourself.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

I took my time to eat as I didn’t have a good appetite. Alpha Horace waited until I had finished eating. Then he helped me return to the bed.

“I will let Cameron know you are pregnant.”

“Thank you, Alpha.”

“Don’t be too happy. I still don’t give my blessings to your relationship. Lisa will be Cameron’s official mate, and you will only be his mistress.” Alpha Horace let out a sigh. “I’m thinking if I will let Cameron mark you so my grandpup won’t be an illegitimate child. But we’ll see about that.”

I was surprised to hear that. I thought Alpha Horace hated me. Maybe my pup would soften his heart. I could only pray it would be the case. It was impossible to stop Cameron and Lisa’s marking ceremony this time, but I had no other wish if Alpha Horace would let Cameron mark me in the future.

Alpha Horace almost left the room when he turned his body to face me. “I know Cameron and you had a history in the past life.” When I gasped, Alpha Horace added, “Cameron told me. But then the past life is history. If you can forget Cameron, it will be better. I even have an offer for you. After giving birth to the pup, you can leave the pup with me. I will take care of the pup well and acknowledge them as my grandpup. But you must leave the pack and never contact Cameron again. I will give you gold and jewelry so you can start a new life elsewhere.”

I shook my head. “I won’t consider it.”

“Don’t be in haste. Think about it. Cameron will be the father. You can have another pup with someone else. It’s a win-win solution for everyone.”

When Alpha Horace already left me, I bent my head and whispered, “The only problem is I only love Cameron. In the past life or in this life, I will only love him ....”
