Chapter 86: The Meeting (1)
The Great Assembly room had been prepared for our urgent meeting. My father was already there. When he saw Nate, Lisa, Melanie and I entered the room, his brows lifted a bit. Everyone rose to respect my present. I gestured to all Elders to take a seat while four of us also sat.
I glanced around, ensuring everyone was ready to hear me. “Dear Elders, I don’t know if you have already received any complaints from the Hurricane Dawn Pack. But let us tell you first what happened yesterday. Nate?”
Nate patted Lisa’s shoulder and then stood to face all Elders. “My respectable Elders, Omega Melanie Wood and I were the witnesses of what happened yesterday in the Hurricane Dawn Pack.” He glanced at Lisa. When Lisa nodded, Nate continued his words. “We infiltrated our ally because of the urgent situation.”
“What situation?” one Elder shouted. “It is unacceptable to jeopardize the peace treaty, considering it is something we have strived hard to achieve.”
“Let Nate finish his report, Elder.” Then I nodded at Nate. “Please continue, Nate.”
“Thank you, Alpha. The situation was one of our pack members was brought there against her consent. No one relayed the info of such a thing to our Alpha.” Nate looked around and fixed his stare at the Elder who protested. “I believe taking one of us outside of our pack without our consent and without letting the Alpha know are two grave offenses. Don’t you agree?”
The Elder who protested earlier nodded. “I agree. Please continue.”
Nate took a deep breath. He glanced at Lisa again. “Because of that, as we believe our pack member was in danger, we entered the Hurricane Dawn Pack and set her free.”
“Please inform us who is our pack member who had been brought to our ally’s pack without her consent?” Elder Tom asked. “Brought from our pack to another pack without consent.” He frowned for a while. “Does it mean she was kidnapped?”
Nate nodded. “Yes, Elder Tom. She was kidnapped.”
The Elders talked between themselves, and Nate sat again. He reached out to Lisa and held her hand. Lisa’s face was pale.
“It’s quite alarming knowing how our pack member can be kidnapped,” Elder Tom commented. “No matter who she is, all our pack members have any right to be safe within our pack.”
I nodded to Elder Tom. “Thank you, Elder Tom. I agree with your opinion. I will let Melanie tell us all what happened there. Melanie, it’s your turn to speak.”
Melanie bit her lower lip. Her face was flushed as everyone stared at her. But then she stood and started talking. “My respectable Elders, our Alpha and Beta.” She coughed when she glanced at Lisa and bit her lower lip. “Also our Luna. Allow me to tell what happened in the Hurricane Dawn Pack yesterday. I am Omega Melanie Wood. I’m the housemaid at our Alpha and Luna’s house.” She glanced at me, biting her lower lip again.
“Go on, Melanie. Don’t be afraid. Tell everyone what happened yesterday,” I said, encouraging Melanie to continue.
“I went to the Hurricane Dawn Pack because it was my best friend, Omega Anna Warren, who had been brought there.” Melanie gulped and bit her lower lip again. “When we were there, Anna … Anna … uh … was naked, and Alpha Bill Shadow was on top of her.”
All the Elders suddenly were quiet as they listened to what Melanie said.
“Anna, as we all know, is our Alpha’s woman. She loves our Alpha, and currently Anna is pregnant with our Alpha’s pup. However, she was brought outside of the pack, and she fought and screamed. It’s obvious she didn’t invite or wanted Alpha Bill’s attention.”
Elder Tom took a deep breath and let out a sigh. “Shortly, Alpha Bill intended to rape Anna. Is my conclusion correct, Melanie?”
Melanie bowed her head. “Yes, Elder. It’s correct. She was trembling badly when I wrapped her in a blanket. At first, she didn’t recognize me, but then when she realized it was me, she burst into tears and hugged me. She was terrified.”
Melanie clenched her hands. Moving by her story, she shed tears. “Anna is my best friend, and she is a great friend. She defended me so many times when I was bullied. She is courageous and loyal. However, facing an attempting rape was surely a traumatic experience.” She took a deep breath and wiped her tears. “I put my jacket on her and she tried to wear her torn clothes as well. Though Anna was shaken badly, she was still the bravest she-wolf I’ve ever known. I don’t know what I’d do if I were in the same position as her.” Her voice was broken, and she sobbed. “I-I’m sorry ….”
I was touched because Melanie’s testimonial of Anna’s character was another solid proof of our case. “Thank you, Melanie. You can leave the room and have a rest. Thank you for helping me to save Anna.”
Melanie nodded. Her eyes were still wet because of tears, but she gave a smile to me from afar. Then she left the room
Elder Tom raised his hand. “Alpha, I have a question.”
“Go ahead. Please ask, Elder Tom.”
“Who is the one who kidnapped Anna?”
I didn’t answer it as I could see Nate clenched Lisa’s hand. No matter what, I didn’t want to put a blame on Lisa. Taking a deep breath, I said, “I can’t answer it for now. But I will reveal it when we have been in a better situation.”
“Why not?” another Elder asked. “It’s an important case. We must know what happened until you took a big risk to revoke the peace treaty.”
“Because the person who did it was under drug influence,” I said. “The person was not themselves when they kidnapped Anna. The drug was given to them outside when they knew nothing about it.”
Elder Tom nodded. “I understand the situation. But knowing who did it will give us a better perspective, Alpha.”
If I revealed it, maybe the burden was no longer on my shoulders. However, I didn’t want to separate Nate and Lisa because of this. If I revealed it, the Elders for sure wouldn’t approve the union between Nate and Lisa.
But when I was still considering it, suddenly Lisa stood. “I did it. I was the one who brought Anna to the Hurricane Dawn Pack.”
