150 years later
KAMILAH’S POV
In this dominating world, only the powerful will stay at the top, trampling on the weaklings. It’s not about the law anymore but those who are in power are the law. It has always been that way. And no one dared to change it.
And I am one of the powerful. Right now. I couldn’t care less either way. I have got what I wanted, and I’m sure it’ll stay that way. I buried what happened to the past and lived to the present.
“How are things going here?” I asked my right-hand woman, my beta, my second in command, Louisa as I paraded around the halls. Simultaneous greetings instantly filled the room and I didn’t bother to glance at my subordinates.
“You have to attend the meeting now, Alpha Kamilah. The elders are hosting a party-'' she answered, her sunglasses perched on her nose as she looked at me with a calm look, not even fearing me at all. I have to give it to her, working under me for 150 years might have taken a toll on her, but she never quit. I’m aware of my sassiness and bad attitude. She’s a beta for a reason after all. I could even remember how we got here. How small she was when I first took her in.
I looked at her green highlights that fall from her short curly hair, highlighting her hazel eyes that melted into the sunlight, her tanned skin glowing along the way. I raised my eyebrows, seemingly passing that thought in mind..right, the party which also holds a fundraiser for the poor. “Oh, is that today? Cancel that then.”
Louisa gasped at that, “But the elders-“
“Oh, I’m sure you know me by all the years you are serving me, Louisa,” I said, smirking at her, and that made Louisa sign in silence. Of course, I am a busy woman. I have to manage my pack, secure our safety and expand my territories. I don’t have time for mere boring meetings where all the elders talk about problems and stare at me with so much hatred.
I am the first female Alpha who changed the world a few decades ago. I know what I am capable of and they are aware of it, that is why they have been careful of me and hold meetings in disguise of checking if I’ll suddenly change the world and rampage again. Besides, there is no good going there anyway.
Sighing, Louisa bowed her head at me, “As you wish, Alpha Kamilah.”
“Good. You are now dismissed. Don’t bother me again or I’ll kill you.” I threatened as Louisa just walked away without even flinching. That’s also one thing I like about her…she’s immune to my harsh words.
I did my daily check of looking around the whole building I created in the past century. I had made this mansion when I left Alpha Magnus’s pack last time. My packhouse is in the woods, nice and quiet nature in Norfolk in Virginia with 450 werewolves. In my 150 years of existence, I watched as the world evolved and delved myself too in the people’s business as I was bored. I became the CEO of DarkCrest Company.
Well, Vampires, Wolves, witches, dragons, and other supernaturals that humans could name, are all mingling around. Well, we have remained hidden in the human's eyes in the past, tortured and killed by them, but not anymore. We freely and quietly roam around now….
“Good morning, Alpha Kamilah!”
“You look beautiful, my lady.”
Several compliments as I walk by my pack, and I just nod at them, keeping some check in my head as I count off my subordinates. Of course, my pack is filled with women. Well, except my male slaves and guards like Almiron if you count that. Men are just mere toys anyways.
“Have you heard of Alpha Magnus? I wonder who he’ll take as his date for the event today.” Giggled one of the omegas from the corner. “Whoever she is, I’m sure she’ll be lucky.”
My ears perked up, instantly turning to them as her friend responded.
“Shh, quiet, our Alpha will hear us!”
I blinked, somehow getting interested in their conversation but also wanted to scold them for daring to talk about that Alpha of the Bloodlust right in my presence.
Well, Alpha Magnus never changed. He has always been popular around with his amazing playboy skills and charms. I did everything I could to not get involved with that alpha again but I saw him once on my business trip and I swear I want nothing but to gouge his eyes out, men like him are narcissistic and want nothing from women other than to play them. It’s a good thing I chose to leave his pack decades ago.
“What are you two blabbering about? Get back to work.” I ordered and the two she-wolves just returned to their seats. Deciding to not scold them further as I’m a bit in a happy mood, I walked to my office, my black heels clicking in each step. Once I reached the topmost level of the building, I sat down on my desk and looked at the pile of papers in front of me. I had always been into clubbing and parties the past few weeks that I forgot to work on this. I could just hear Louisa scolding me in my head but I ignored it.
The wind blew and a small note then came out from the folders. Picking it up, I could smell the very scent of that man. Reading the note, I breathed in deeply.
“I want you to be my date. I’ll be expecting you at the event ;)”
-Magnus
I scoffed, not believing the note. How did he manage to get in here? I could sense his trailing scent that is seemingly disappearing, meaning, it wasn’t that long since he came here. How did he even manage to enter my office? No, how dare the nerve of that Alpha to invite me to be his date? He has always been watching my every move everywhere ago, what a creep!
I looked at the window and rolled my eyes.
“Almiro!” I called my loyal protector, the only man I trust in this pack, the beta I had grown up with all these years. He’s the only man and the guard I placed outside my office to stand guard. The only friend I had left since that incident with Darian…When I left Alpha Magnus packhouse, Almiro had already picked up my scent and was waiting for me outside. He was the one who helped me grow this pack of mine, and I am thankful for him staying.
But right now, how dare he not even report it to me?
Silence…
He usually appears instantly the moment I call, but now is a bit strange.
I used my mind to talk with my subordinates. As the alpha, only I could do this and it’s convenient for me.
“Almiro!” I called out and heard Louisa reporting in my head that he came to the meeting as a representative for me.
I gritted my teeth, gave orders to Louisa using my min link, and went to my room to put on my lovely red dress that hugged my curves along with my red stilettos and red lipstick. I let my hair down as I sprayed on my perfume. I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror, noticing how the dark spot that left a scar on my face was now getting bigger. I gulped, feeling my chest tighten as the memories got to me, the past I buried. The mistake I made.
No, this is not the time to be weak. I have to go now. I put on my side bangs to my right to hide the ugly scar and I found Louisa appearing at my door, guiding me to the car as she drove me to the event where the party will take place.
As soon as Louisa parked her car, I opened the door and elegantly walked outside. Guards then spotted me and went on alert.
I gave them a look, “What? Am I not invited?”
The guard gulped, “Of course, you are invited, Alpha Kamilah!” They instantly opened the door and a piece of nice slow music greeted them. It was the VIP room of the five-star hotel, the usual meeting place.
“Come on.” I motioned Louisa to come inside with me but she stopped, “Oh, I am not allowed inside, my lady. Only Alphas and invited guests.”
I furrowed my eyebrows, not liking the discrimination the elders put here. Do they fear that I would bring myself a weapon? Tsk, they really took countermeasures against me.
“Then wait for me here, alright?”
Louisa nodded and I instantly entered the room. The moment I walked in, I saw the Elder, Druscill sitting at the head of the table while the other two alphas of the different packs were seated across from each other.
They all paused, looking at me with wide eyes as if I’m not invited and a crasher at the party.
“What are you staring at? Am I not one of the guests invited?”
I said boldly, to which the elder acted quickly and stood up to welcome me.
“Oh, Alpha Kamilah! Thank goodness you finally attended!” He said, motioning for me to sit. “It has been such a long time.”
I faked a smile, sitting at the empty chair beside Alpha Killian.
Elder Druscill, this wicked elder who has been attempting to kill me for the past years really irks me. He was the elder assigned to the America region for ys 4 alphas reigning over here, he’s the one assigned to restore order. In his eyes, he sees me as a threat for disrupting the balance of things but he seemed to stop attempting to kill me, knowing his efforts would just be in vain.
Their eyes were still on me with a judgy look.
I scoffed at them, “So are we just going to spend the day staring at me? I know I am beautiful.” I said. “Or the thought of a female alpha alone in a room intimidates you?”
“Is the world ending or did she actually attend the meeting for the first time in decades?” Across from me, Alpha Rohan of the Dawn Pack asked the elder, which made me turn my head to him.
“You know I can hear you.” I said smugly, “Why to bother whispering, Alpha Rohan.”
He just huffed, now silent.
Silence fell, and the elder cleared his throat. “Now we are waiting for one more alpha…Alpha Magnus.”
Alpha Magnus? I shook my head, “Don't bother waiting, we all know that man is not going to show up in all of the meetings.”
Suddenly, a loud banging on the door came and it burst open, the wind breezing harshly together with the deep voice of the familiar man.
“Are you talking about me?”
