Chapter 17

Cameron -

I stand at the table, waiting for everyone to take their seats in the meeting room. Except for Clair, I have all my siblings here. Still, I cannot believe that Clair's twin brother has found us. I found it funny to observe how each set of twins sits next to the other. I was no different in that regard; my twin is my beta.

As everyone chats from lunchtime on, I see my mother holding Colt's hand tightly. Colt's disappearance was such a hard time for my mother that I am sure she is touching him just to make sure that he is, in fact, real.

In my family, there are twins who are only slightly older than Colt.

They have every intention of joining their mates in that pack. If the twins' mate's father steps down, the alpha wants them to train to take over the position of alpha upon his departure. I sort of smiled internally when I realized they have some serious learning to do. When I think about what Clair referred to them as, Beavis and Butthead, I laugh internally at that.

As I look around, I see everyone is absorbed in their own conversations. Since there is a lot of noise, I decide to walk over and shut off the light. I then turn it back on to get their attention without yelling. That method worked like a charm. Immediately, they were all quiet, and I had their attention. It is a rather sunny day and I walk back to the head of the table and my Luna sits to my right. I decide to remain standing until everyone has been seated. Once everyone has been seated, I smile and sit down; now I am ready to begin.

Cameron -

I had my beta print out our agenda; he was passing them out to everyone in the room. I also made sure that my beta and the Captain of the Warriors were also in attendance.

Good morning everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know Colt is back with us, just in case you didn't hear. It is the twin brother of Clair, and I am certain it will delight her to have a twin of her own. Colt's pack has been overrun by rogues, and the new rogue king has taken his place. I hope that some of our alliances will assist me in gathering an army.

We are approaching the time of taking the pack back, and we are back. Checking to see if we can find the Alpha and Luna of that pack. However, we are uncertain whether they are alive. They are also the ones who kidnapped my brother. That Alpha and Luna have both been relieved of their responsibilities as leaders of their pack.

Once the pack has been secured, if they are still alive, they will be arrested. If I am given the responsibility of deciding whether to put them on trial, I promised my brother that I would not kill them. If Alpha and Luna end up with trials under the King, I cannot guarantee anything.

For the time being, I have asked the witch to prepare a special tea for everyone here. It's impossible to fully understand a person's reasoning behind certain things unless you can walk in their shoes.

We will view snippets of the memories of Colts from birth until he was seven years old so that we can make rational decisions. In the end, it gives us an idea of how his life has been, and we can understand why he does not want the kidnappers to be killed.

Erica has the omegas bring in their special tea for them to take. "Erica, I only want snippets from the Colts' childhood memories from birth to seven years old, please." Erica nods and mind - links the kitchens head Omega, asking for the teas to be brought to the main conference room.

With pride, Cameron senior looks at his Alpha son, Cameron junior. Cameron junior is beloved by the pack because he is just and fair. He doesn't care what a person's rank is, all that matters to him is whether they do their jobs properly. His son has incorporated modern technology while maintaining their old ways.

There are many types of shifters he has, he has witches, and he also has humans. If you asked me when I was in charge, could I have predicted any of this? To be honest, I would have laughed at you. I couldn’t see the visions for the pack as my son did. That he came out so well makes me smile inwardly.

As Erica opened the doors for the Omegas, she whispered into one of their ears and instructed them to place cups of tea in front of each person. Erica's Omega, whom she has just spoken to, has instructed the other Omegas to place a cup of tea in front of each person. In the room, they served the special brew that Erica prepared for the guests to everyone.

Colt -

There was something slightly creepy about it. After she put her hands on my head, Erica turned to the others and asked them to hold the hand on either side of theirs. Rather than being a walk through my memory, I would have thought this was a séance.

Erica was behind me asking everyone to drink up the tea in preparation for being in a dream state to see my memories. After she had confirmed that everyone had indeed consumed the tea, she motioned for them to now hold hands on either side of the table. This is where Erica began her incantation, specifying the year that the memories belonged to.

I start to doze off walking back in time to when I was born. I remember a woman grabbing me after shot out like a rocket, there was another baby already there. I am guessing my sister; great she was born before me. I am the youngest of everyone. The woman looks over to the other woman while she is cleaning me up.

Nurse -

"Are you sure that you want to go ahead with this? Considering that we stole Alpha Cameron's child, they will punish us with death for that crime. Should they figure out what we did, they will kill us."

Rosie -

'When the time comes, my mate needs a son to be his Alpha. I am not capable of having children, and the waiting list for an Alpha orphan is a decade long. It is understandable that you might feel that way, however, I would go to the extreme to give him the son he needs. I wish to remind you that you are my cousin, and I am paying you exceptionally well so that you can get your mother back from the rogues who kidnapped her.

Nurse -

Did you have any involvement with the kidnapping, cousin? At a time when you want to take the baby, my mother is now in their hands. How convenient."

Rosie -

“The thought of doing such a thing to you, or my aunt, would never occur to me.”

Nurse -

“Right! Obviously you wouldn't think of doing something like this to your best friend, but here we are, taking her baby. As Luna Constance seems to be asleep for the moment, we might as well get right to it because she's already passed out briefly. I swear to Alpha of this pack that if the rogues kill my mother, I will let him know what a betrayal you and your mate did to his family."

Rosie -

“I love Constance, I just don’t see any other way. She has so many children, and I have none, how is that fair?”

I see the woman who I grew up believing was my mother shed a tear. Whether it was a crocodile tear or a real one, I did not know.

Next I see the nurse talking to a man. I am guessing he is her mate, as he hugs her looking fearful.

Nurse -

“My mate I am so sorry, my cousin isn’t thinking straight, but I don’t want the rogues torturing and killing my mother. We do not have a choice. One of the other babies that died from the other pack, do you have him?”

Her mate nodded yes. Looking like death was going to catch him soon for this act of treason.

Nurse -

“Alright, cremate that dead pup, put the ashes in one of the urns and inscribe the urn as baby Calderon. I will be back for the ashes; I have to go hand this infant to someone waiting out back.”

The man looks sad, and heads back to the coroners room, as he is the coroner. He is doing as his mate instructed.

Cameron -

As we walk down some dark corridors, we'll be outside before we know it. Suddenly, the smelly, dirty man picks me up in his arms. He grunts, and foul air comes out of his mouth. Although I am crying, the man tells me to shut up, and I continue to cry.

Nurse -

“My cousin will meet the Rogue King later where they always meet, so you better not hurt that baby. Once she has paid him the rest of the money, you must free my mother.”””

Rogue -

“Just make certain she shows up with the money!”

Nurse -

“Oh, she will show up, do you think she wouldn’t seeing as you have the baby?!”

Cameron -

I see the rogue grunt as he runs off with me.
