Chapter 80
Clair –
I mind-linked Xander and spoke to him right away, telling him that this was serious, and that we should set up a security council right away. I also had to send out trackers immediately for a security breach. Two of my men have been killed while they were going to fix a security camera. Clearly, there has been a breach, and we need to find the intruder or intruders as soon as possible. As soon as Xander acknowledged this, I told him that I would meet him in the silent room. Approximately twenty minutes from now, I will be there.
Leaving the area felt very uncomfortable. I wanted to find the perpetrators because I believed they were still nearby. As I looked around, I felt eyes on me. I was trying to shake off the eerie feeling I was getting as I looked around.
Into the forest –
I saw a rogue who had front teeth chipped and was yellowing/graying with a smile on his face after killing a couple of wolves. Greasy hair was dripping down his forehead and into his eyes. As the rogue's hair was so filthy and greasy, you couldn't tell what color it was, ever.
The rogue's jeans had grease all over them. The smudges on his face were the result of sleeping with his face buried in the dirt all night. I noticed that he was wearing a faded plaid shirt that still had remnants of the food stains from the night before. It was drenched in sweat, food odors, and alcohol. He looked as if he hadn't been able to change out of that shirt since he was born. It appeared that the rogue resembled an escapee who had just come out of jail.
The rogue was following a warrior who was alone walking through the woods. I likened the rogue to a snake that quietly eyed its prey waiting for the perfect moment to strike its prey with its venomous teeth. The rogue snuck behind the soldier Jumping on his back, slitting his throat with a blade he carried especially for today. He was sent along with a few others. Their mission was to stealthily kill as many royal warriors as they can.
We had no clue the rogues had been here a couple of days. They had killed several soldiers as we were unaware of their existence and the camera that was compromised.
When I felt around my waist for the dagger, I found it still nestled snugly inside the band of my waistband. The air was filled with smells that were foul to me. In my effort to get out of the forest and back into the royal packs square, where there was a lot of light, I sped up my pace.
My legs felt like they were dragging through quicksand as I made my way out of the forest. All the while I was looking around and over my shoulder. I was regretting that I did not leave a soldier in charge of escorting me back to the base. As a result, I was wondering whether I was just out of my mind.
While walking, I stopped to listen, wondering if I was going crazy. Now I could hear every bird, squirrel, etc. So, I stripped and shifted carrying my clothes in my mouth. As my wolf, I could escape the forest faster.
My wolf took off she was not going to let anyone hurt us or our pups that we are carrying in our belly.
I am just about to clear the forest line, when I am surrounded by five snarling, rancid wolves. I am an Alpha female, so I have a large wolf. The wolves I am staring at are all in medium in nature. The rogue wolves had surrounded me, and I realized I was going to have to fight my way out of this. I linked Xander letting him know I was delayed. I had a couple of rogues to fight. Xander did not sound happy and was sending himself as well as some men my way.
I watched the rogue wolves surround me, and out of the trees a man came walking through and the wolves separated to let him walk through, then they bowed. I could not believe what I was seeing how did he get out?
I snarled at him, and her replied now, “Clair we are practically family. Your brother is my son after all. I shook my wolf head no, walking forward to him growling. My wolf wanted to rip his head off.
Alpha Josh: (Kidnapper of Cole)
You must have wondered how I got away. You'll recall that your brother Alpha Cameron, and your dear old friend your father, decided my punishment would be making my wife and I rogues. That was their decision to be kind to us because of our previous friendship and not to hurt Colt. I don't care! It wasn't kind at all. We should have been killed. Our freedom was short-lived since your Alpha brother made sure all packs knew about our crimes and refused to accept us. Making makeshift tents and avoiding pack wolves that killed rogues were the two most important things. But we did get caught up in hunter chases. Though I managed to escape gunfire, my rose did not. On that day, she lost her life. I was horrified to see what the hunters had done. While following them until darkness fell, I hid in the shadows. As soon as they fell asleep, I ripped them apart. It was time to join forces with the rogue king. Pack wolves would be held responsible since they put Rose in a position to die. What an opportunity! My vengeance would probably be better served by killing you, hearing that you are the future queen. Naturally, I would torture you first."
Clair –
I continue walking towards this coward. The wolves plant themselves in front of him, protecting him. He turned and walked, telling the wolves to torture and kill me.
