Chapter 83
Clair –
Mind linking Xander, I apologize. "It is true that I can sometimes be difficult to deal with, Xander. I am sorry and I know that you love me very much. There are some serious issues with our security for this pack that we need to address. Are you available to meet with me at my office?”
Xander –
I was debating whether to block Clair, but I have never blocked her before, so I was unsure whether to do so. She is still my world to me, and I love her more than anything in this world. I sigh and let her through. Before I say anything, I listen to what the other person has to say. To make amends, Clair apologizes, and this warmed my heart. It was as if the argument never even happened.
Trying to annoy her, I laughed as sweetly as I could. “I could not be more pleased sweety, love of my life. It appears that rogues have infiltrated our pack; we have just chased some of them away after they kidnapped two of our she-wolves. Unfortunately, we were not able to save them in time. They were lifted in the air by a helicopter that the rogue king had waiting, and he flew off."
Clair –
There was a security camera that was inoperative for a week prior to me taking over the job, however the crew I took over did not notice it. As a result, I have demoted the manager to the position of guard at the Pack Dump. The interviewing process has begun for each of the employees, and I am having everyone interrogated and I am doing a far more in-depth background check on each of them. My department must have a traitor among its members. It is impossible that they could have missed that camera in any way. Further, I am checking our software and checking if any other cameras are not working. The number of rogues who have breached our pack is unknown, who knows how many there are?”
Xander –
"As soon as we have dropped some rogues off to be put in our dungeons for the interrogators to question, I will head there. It seems that our interrogators will be busy for quite some time to come."
It angers me that right under our noses there is a traitor or even worse, we have traitors, yet we don't know who they are. Furthermore, I am disappointed, as I consider everyone in my pack to be a member of my family.
If the traitor happens to be the manager that I personally hand-picked for the electronic security department, I will be disheartened. I consider him to be my distant cousin. As a child, I grew up with him and we were sent to school together as well. My friend is the last person I would like to think about in this situation.
During our raid, my warriors and I had taken the rogues into the cells and had locked them up. To inform my father about what had transpired today, I went over to speak with him. It was only after I had checked in with my father that I had made my way over to Clair's office to see her.
As I walked inside the building, I let the secretary know that I was headed to see my mate, and I gave her permission to raise her head. She bowed, and I gave her permission to do so. It felt like forever since I had seen Clair's beautiful face, the kind aura she gave off, and the attitude with which she carried herself.
Walking into Clair’s office, Xander walked over to her and put his arms around her shoulders. Nestling his face into Clair’s neck where his mark is. Kissing her up her neck turning her around in her chair lifting her up to sit on the desk. Standing between her legs, lowering his face down to give her a kiss. It was as if there wasn’t anyone else in the universe but them. There was trouble, there wasn’t worries or traitors. There was only the two of them in their own little universe. When Beta Zach walked in, coughing to let them know of his existence.
I turned and growled at my beta but reined in my anger to listen to what my beta had to say.
Beta Zach –
“We have found ten other rogues in the woods. We couldn’t bring them all back, they seemed to have death wishes as they would not quit charging at my men and me. They are all down in the dungeons, my prince. My suggestion is since we have been infiltrated we send out men 3 at a time house to house. We will check every inch of each house without permission of the owners, as they could be a rogues hostage. I also suggest we get warriors from other packs to help us in the search for the rogues, as our land is vast. This could take weeks and we don’t have weeks. May I contact Alpha Cameron and a couple of the other alphas around the area?”
Clair –
Fear shot up my spine, thinking that we truly could be overridden by rogues, we had no clue how many were out there.
Zach--
“Go ahead and contact the other Alphas as well as let our King know your plans. We cannot afford to make any mistakes about how many rogues had invaded our lands. Thank you beta and go ahead and do what you must do.”
My friend and beta bowed his head and took his leave. I turned to Clair to start where we left off, however she was already up, taking me by my arm to show me around.
Headed over to the computer station that oversaw the camera that had gone out, we noticed that no one has managed that station for several days. We ask the young man sitting next to the booth who it was that usually sat here. He answered that it was the gammas mate, and that she wasn’t in right now. She hasn’t been in for several days as well.
Clair –
“Looks like we should go visit the gamma’s mate. What do you think Xander?”
Xander –
Joking around I reply, “We will play detective and follow the clues. Yes let’s go and interrogate the gammas mate.
