Chapter 84

Xander –

Another beta, Michael, was helping the interrogator get much needed information regarding why they are stealing our females from us. The first thing I did was to mentally link my Gamma, explaining to him that we were on our way to discuss his mate with us. He explained that she had just given birth to pups a couple of weeks ago and has been on maternity leave for over a month now. Hearing this, I told him to take care of his mate. There was no need to speak to him so urgently.

By my silence and my glassy eyed look, Clair knew that I was mind linking someone when she looked at me. Upon seeing her questioning look, I answered her unspoken questions.

"There was no way the Gammas' wife could have been a traitor. Because the gamma’s mate just had pups a few weeks back, she has been on bedrest for over a month now. Who could this be, that is our traitor? I am perplexed as to who this person could be? I guess we will need to know who oversaw her computer while she was away. It would also be a wise idea to check the security tapes as well."

Grasping Clair by the waistline, I pick her up in a bridal style as she angrily beats on my chest demanding I place her down. Amid pulling her out of the security building, I start laughing wickedly while nibbling on her ears to give her a hint as to what direction we will be going in as we leave the building. Having climbed up the stairs into the castle, I turned left to head to the second floor of the castle. As I opened the elevator, I stopped it midway through my journey to the next floor. In the process of going to the quiet room, I managed to mind link Zach's sister and asked her to get the computer that was causing the problem. As far as wiping the hard drives goes, we don't need anyone to do so. Zach's sister is taking her mate with her to get the computer and help if necessary.

Xander –

The silent room was already occupied by my father when I entered it. A map of the grounds was drawn out for us with colored pins showing exactly where we had spotted rogues during our investigation. In the past, we were informed that the soldiers had been out visiting various homes in the area. There were reports that there had been kidnappings of she-wolves allegedly taking place in those homes. The fact that so many she-wolves had disappeared was something we could not have foreseen at all. There was a discussion about why the parents hadn't alerted us. The consensus was that there might have been a threat made against the parents by the rogues to kill their daughter.

What surprised us was the fact that one of the families was that of the lieutenant to the captain of the guard. It was obvious that the rogues were manipulating these families to get them to become spies. As a result of this, we placed all of these families under house arrest with ankle bracelets on their ankles. To keep them and our pack safe, we have to do this. At each residence, we kept four guards on duty. The houses are guarded by one guard at each corner.

The lieutenant was brought to the castle, but he was not handcuffed, as he had proven to us to be a loyal warrior for so many years, and he had been a faithful soldier.

Everyone had a seat at the table, we asked the lieutenant to give us his story.

Lieutenant ---

It was a good day for the kids to jump on the trampoline out back. My back yard was full of people enjoying a barbecue that I was having. A man of mine walked around the back of the house and sat down. It has always been my policy to let them come to my barbecues. During the time Lakita was in the house, she had her iPod on and her earbuds in her ears as she was listening to her music. On the trampoline, four of my other puppies were playing. My mate was in the process of setting up the tables for the dinner that was to take place later on. It was while I was talking to Ethan that I was not aware that there had been some rogues who had come in the front door and had taken my daughter from me. Ethan ate a few bites of food before he apologized for his actions. He apologized, but I was not aware of what he was apologizing for until later in the evening, when he left. I came up in the evening thinking she was in her room like normal teenagers, texting or whatever it is she does. Walking into her room, I froze. The window was open, and the curtains were blowing towards me. The room smelled like garbage; rogues had been in here. All I could visualize was Ethen apologizing. I went running through the forest trying to pinpoint her smell, instead a rogue cut me off in my path, throwing Ethan’s head at my feet. The rogue let me know that the same thing will happen to Lakita as Ethan if I don't keep my mouth shut." I could feel a tear wanting to be let loose, and my wolf wanted to be loose to find the rogues that kidnapped Lakita. I just want my baby girl back. I pounded on the table and the room jumped. However, I could see tears slowly trickling from the future queens eyes.

Looking at the King I ask or maybe it was more like begging, “Why did the rogues take my Lakita? Why?”
