Chapter 54 GRACEDOME
Sobrina discovered the name of the church Pastor Melvin was attending - Gracedome - and decided to go confirm the rumors she had heard. WUCC had become too sour for her.
It turned out to be a church that believed the same things she had heard from the messages she had downloaded back in Lagunde, the same one she had heard during the conference Pastor Melvin had invited her to.
She believed their gospel. They taught the Bible with precision and accuracy. They also sang the kind of songs Sobrina liked to listen to. She began to understand what Pastor Melvin meant by "unlearning and relearning", she was pleased and began to do the same.
She gradually left WUCC and began to worship in Gracedome. Gracedome was located far within the University environment, and far from the vicinity where she lived off-campus.
Pastor Melvin became nicer and meeker, he was glad she had joined his new church. He quickly fastened himself to her.
They rarely spoke in public, but at night, they texted till bedtime. He thought things had gone back to the way they used to be between them.
If they had a fight, he apologized in public - at the church - whether he was wrong or not. He began to treat Sobrina like he previously used to, both financially and otherwise.
But deep down, Sobrina had decided to move on. She couldn't get herself to forgive him. She met a man who lived abroad, who was interested in marrying her.
She visited Pastor Davies - the Pastor of Gracedome - her new church. She desired his counsel over the entire matter.
Pastor Davies was a tall, fair, handsome unmarried young man. It was the first time in Sobrina's entire life to be going to a church where the Pastor was young and unmarried.
"Good morning Pastor",
"How are you sister?",
"Very well, thank you. My name is Sobrina, I started here at Gracedome over a month ago", She told him, and narrated all she had been through in her previous church.
She had become ashamed of her past as a Devil worshipper, and therefore decided it was best forgotten, and didn't tell him about that.
But she also told him about her health since she trusted in a Pastor's supposed vow, to be secretive with information. That plus the fact that it was necessary for the reason she had come to speak to him.
"There's this man who I've been dating for many years now, I don't want to tell you his name because you might know him. I was praying few weeks ago when the Holy Spirit told me he is my husband. I was actually praying for the strength to leave him, when I heard the voice in my heart. The Spirit also said that he knows", she told Pastor Davies.
"You see? Sobrina, a man can choose to do something different from what the Holy Spirit told him", Pastor Davies informed her, and counseled her to keep on praying.
His response was very revealing. Sobrina didn't know a man could choose to disobey the spirit of God. She thought the Spirit had the final say over issues, and that it was a sin to disobey Him.
She decided it was best to be wiser.
Sobrina noticed Pastor Melvin had gotten attached to another girl in the church. Even though he wasn't really good looking, and had a peculiar ailment, girls found it easy to like him because he was from a rich background, and treated them like Queens.
Pastor Melvin assured Sobrina that there was nothing between him and the girl, and she believed him because he was used to being with one girl or the other. There was no point worrying since he always treated her special in front of them.
