Dinner with Mr. Knight?
“Nobody’s is perfect- had been said a few thousand times but never been understood most of the time.”
As I drifted in the arms of sleep, as a child into the wonderland, my brain drew monsters as a sort of montage, changing as the moments passed. After it changed a few times, I went into a deep slumber of sleep. Last night, I slept very well, dreaming until the daylight tickled my eyes into wakefulness once more.
Was this the case?
No... Na-uh!
It was the total opposite as I woke up again with that terrible pain in my head. It has really started to annoy me now.
Uncovering myself from the duvet, I groaned and held my head until the pain subsided, followed by my sighing. Getting out of the bed, I briskly walked towards the bathroom. Pulling off the clothes, I let them fall on the floor. Opening the tap of the shower, I washed my hair, working the conditioner through it now, I let out a heavy sigh.
Remembering what Aiden said yesterday, I started to ponder why these headaches suddenly started. Like there had to be some reason. There were so many gears turning in my head, thinking about my situation, the clients, and much more. Perhaps, the appointment would be the answer to all our unanswered questions, for good.
Speaking of which….
After rinsing the conditioner and body wash with the warm water, my brows furrowed for a moment as I looked around for my towel, realizing I had not brought it with me in the bathroom.
Stepping out of the shower and onto the fluffy bathmat. I grasped a mauve towel on the door railing and began to dry herself off. To be fair, Aiden did really well as it was necessary to know if there were any complications in my head, knowing my medical history.
I glanced at my reflection in the mirror, half expecting to see a tired face with red eyes. No, instead I just locked stares with my own reflection, my cheeks reddening when I grasped onto the fact that I could hardly think in these five years, these foreign emotions were swirling at a very rapid pace.
You might be thinking what I was talking about, well, I'm talking about the emotions when I saw Mr. Knight, his gorgeous eyes became my nightmares, those eyes felt so familiar, but I could not place my finger on them.
Anyways, I finished drying my body, gathering as much moisture from my hair as I could before I braid it loosely over my shoulder, securing the towel around my body.
I took a hair tie from the top sliding drawer of the countertop, winding it around the gathered ends of my hair and securing my braid in place. Clasping the towel around me, I decided to head into the bedroom and wore black sweatpants, pairing them with a white tank top. I was planning on spending my Sunday inside my apartment snuggling with my babies, watching their favorite Disney movie along with Aiden.
Walking out of the bedroom, a strong wonderful smell of bacon and cheese eggs struck my nostrils. Following the smell, I entered the kitchen to see Aiden cooking… SHIRTLESS!
Suddenly my throat went dry seeing him in that way, as his body never failed to amaze me… like c'mon, this man had his fair share of the gym.
A clearing of my throat made me look up to which I blushed, and Aiden smirked at my embarrassment, clearly catching me staring at him, "Breakfast is ready, my lady." He said in a fake British accent, bowing down a little.
Rolling my eyes, and half smiling, I said, "I can very well see that, my lord." To which Aiden pouted.
"I thought you would at least swoon over my cooking abilities or at least the thing you were staring at a moment ago." Said Aiden and I could actually feel his smirk while my back turned to him.
Currently, I was removing the coffee mugs from the shelves, quietly keeping them down on the counter. I turned around and punched Aiden's shoulder with a bored expression to which he groaned, "Ow-ah... Rose!" And I rolled my eyes, and my traitorous red cheeks betrayed me.
"Well, keep your mouth shut next time, idiot."
When I turned around to pick up those cups, his strong arms wrapped around my waist as he pulled me towards his chest, which increased my heartbeat as sweat beads appeared on my forehead, which might be the temperature.
Keeping me in the place, "You don't get to leave after using your force on me, sweetheart." Mumbled Aiden in my ear as his breath tickled my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
"A-Aiden…." My voice sounded breathless.
God! I was not ready for his proximity from the morning itself.
Wanting to keep it friendly as I know it would be awkward between us if something happened, I kicked him backward, and when his grip loosened, I freed myself from him.
"Did you like this one?" I asked, smirking at his reaction as he was groaning while rubbing his ankle.
Throwing daggers at me, he said, "I'll strike back when you least expect it."
Leaning to his level, I ruffled his silky hair, "Dream your dreams, they might come true one day." I said and kissed his cheek for kicking him, to which he shook his head.
He poured the coffee into the mugs while I took a tray for two people. "I'll wake the kids," I said and was about to turn around when Aiden held my hand.
"Let them sleep for some time, it's Sunday." Said Aiden, while he set the tray with the breakfast and took it towards the balcony where a small table was already present with two chairs around it.
Nodding, I took the coffee mugs and walked behind him.
Carefully placing the tray on the table, he pulled out a chair for me, "Thank you." I smiled.
"Wait, I'll be back in a minute." Said Aiden as he rushed towards his room and came back wearing a black tee as I found myself a little disappointed. I shook my head at those weird thoughts and enjoyed my breakfast.
Aiden was about to take his seat in front of me when his phone buzzed, and he excused himself to attend it. Sitting there, I closed my eyes feeling the sunny day as the layer covering the atmosphere had an aura of brightness, the light flickered through it and reached the surface of Earth, making it a bit scorching. The sun found its way from the horizon to the summit of the sky and pierced its lucid sunlight to the people which made their faces splattered with an eerie glow, squinting eyes, and glittered demeanor. The birds were soaring high with so much zeal and zest that could bring courage to even a derelict in the search for betterment in his life.
Opening my eyes with a smile, I jumped a little when I found Aiden leaning on the wall and watching me with a smile on his face as his hands folded across his chest. I heard him chuckling as his naked feet fell on the marble flooring in the balcony as he stopped in front of me, pulling my face up as he held my chin in between his forefinger and thumb, softly.
He kissed my nose and smiled at me, saying, "You are the cutest thing I have ever seen…." Before he could complete it, my two little monsters came running, yelling his name, "Addy!"
"Besides these two." Aiden sighed, completing his line, while I pursed my lips to stop myself from laughing, hysterically. Since the day we met, in the beginning, he took care of me as a friend, but after all of these years, he never left any opportunity to show his affection towards me.
Aiden started playing with my kids and the whole apartment was filled with their laughter, which was music to my ears.
Didn't I sound too poetic?
A flip poet…...my subconscious answered.
"Kids, go brush your teeth," I said, sternly. But did they listen?
Of course, not!
This time, they ran towards me as Isabella was the first to hug my left hand while Isaac picked up the pace and hugged my other arm, "Good morning, Mommy!" They yelled in unison.
I looked at Aiden who was now sitting on the floor, with his hands leaned back against the floor as a happiness flickered in his eyes, a smile on his face.
"She loves me!" I heard Isaac shouting to the top of his lungs, breaking the chain of my thoughts as I found my twins fighting, again.
"Okay, okay… come here." I said, pulling them in front of me as I brushed Isaac's hair from his forehead and tucked Isabella's strands to the back of her ear, saying, "Mommy loves both Isaac and Isabella." I said and kissed their foreheads.
"Now, go, brush your teeth."
"Okay!" They said in unison, again. And ran towards their room to which I yelled, "Slowly!" But they never listen.
Shaking my head, I got up and walked towards the kitchen with the tray in my hand, filled our dirty dishes, and placed it on the counter.
Washing my hands, I dried them off and started making breakfast for my kids. Looking up, "Who was on the call?" I asked when I saw Aiden who came in behind me and stood leaning against the counter.
"It was Mr. Knight, he invited us to have dinner with his family." I raised a brow at that.
"What for?" I asked.
"Remember Miss Walker, she said something about her best friend," said Aiden, and I instantly remembered, she indeed was saying something about her best-friend landing in Hawaii and we, I mean Aiden and I, had to meet their friends to finalize the theme.
Nodding to him, "Yeah, so?" I asked.
Giving me a look, "So, they want us to meet them, and dinner is just an excuse." He answered, and continued, "Plus, Mr. Williams wanted to meet you."
I smiled at that, as far as I look at my new life, I have never experienced brotherly love. But, for some reason, I felt like I could have it from him, from Marcus Williams. "Well, we'll indeed meet them." I answered, "But, what about kids?" I asked, but we could not take them to a formal meeting.
"I will ask Linda; she would love to look after them." Said Aiden and I nodded at his suggestion. He walked out, calling Linda and asking her about the same to which she agreed.
I knew she would as she always loved spending time with them. And that was the reason, I never took my kids with me to the office.
"She agreed." Informed Aiden.
"We knew that she would," I stated the fact, and Aiden shook his head.
I was looking forward to this meeting because firstly I would get to meet Marc and his lovely family.
Secondly, my heart skipped a beat when the familiar forest greens flashed before my eyes. Looks like the night was going to be full of emotions.
'Let's see, what happens.' With this last thought, I resumed cooking breakfast for my children.
