Chapter 90 Norton's Uneasiness
Bert curls his mouth into a faint smile. "It wasn't long before Norton told me," he says. "He got Sophie's hair and checked it."
Bane was stunned. She really didn't think it was Norton who found out first.
"You can have it tested again, if you don't believe me."
Bane gave a wry smile.
How could she not believe it?
Her intuition had convinced her that Norton was her child.
This deep empathy convinced her.
"You...... What do you want to do?"
It seemed to Bane that Bert did not want to marry her, that she did not want to marry Bert, that they were not only indifferent to each other, but that they were not of the same world, and that by a strange coincidence they had two children.
This world is so big, unexpectedly met again.
Bert made no secret of his plans. "Sophie is my child," he said, "and I'm going to give her the highest treatment. You don't have to worry about that."
At these words, Bane felt frightened. The last thing she wanted to accept was about to happen after all.
Bert was the sort of person who would never let her children stray; but what about her?
"I'll set Sophie up and everything else will go according to plan, but you can say whatever you want."
'No, you can't!
Bane snarled, "Bert Ron! Sophie is my child, how can you take her from me!"
Bert's face was calm, and a hint of impatience crossed his brow as he said simply, "You can't afford Sophie's treatment, you know."
It was as if Bane's head had been blown off.
For a moment she could not speak, or if she could, she could not argue with Bert.
'And Betsy Reed, I won't touch her for a while, and no one else is to know about it.'
Bert's voice was full of command. He had planned that this would not happen today, but he had to say it in advance, so that he might be ready for what was to come.
When Bane heard these words, however, they took on another meaning.
Her face went white, and she faltered, almost losing her footing.
"From now on, you'll be living on the manor house, as long as you're Norton's cook, Sophie will be living on the manor house, and the medical team will be living on the manor house, and you'll take care of the children."
Bert had just gone to arrange this, and preparations were soon under way for Sophie to go straight to the chateau as soon as she could be discharged from the hospital.
Bane lowered his head, a hint of bitterness on his lips.
An underground lover... Is that it?
No, she's not even a lover, she's just a babysitter.
Bane, who had been mildly happy after meeting Norton, was thoroughly chilled by Bert's words.
Not only did she not get Norton, she didn't even get Sophie.
If she had been a little more willful, she might have taken Sophie away with her, but Bert's words had put the idea out of her mind. Yes, Sophie's medical bills were beyond her means.
"Do you understand?
"Asked Bert.
Bane clenched his fists and nodded heavily.
Bert frowned, but he did not see the look on Bane's face. He thought there was something wrong with her, but he did not think it too hard. He thought she knew.
As Sophie's condition stabilised, Bert arranged the return journey, with a medical team on the way and Sophie well protected.
When they return, Sophie is taken to the hospital while Bane and Norton go to the manor.
"This room has been arranged for you. Your luggage is here. If you need anything, just let me know."
Bane looked blankly at this magnificent room, half the size of which she had spent the previous night.
'Is there anything else you need, Miss Bane?
Reacting, Bane shook his head and said, "No, please."
Thereafter she would take up her residence at the Hall.
Can think of later, Bain could not help confused, but confusion soon disappeared, Bain cheered up.
Bane is now the cook at Norton, and in order to keep the story from leaking, many of the servants have been laid off, except for a few loyal ones.
Bert, however, did not say much about Bane's identity, and when he sent the men to the farm, he left directly, as Norton said, because when Papa was busy, he could not see anyone.
Even though there were many doubts in his heart, Bane still refrained from asking.
"Mom."
Norton is lying on his stomach at the door frame, his little head poking out.
Bane smiled when he saw the visitor. "Norton," he said, "why aren't you in class?"
"I finished my teacher's homework and wanted to see my mother."
"Come here."
Norton rushes in, sits down next to his mother, his little face beaming, "Mom, I personally chose this room for you, do you like it?"
Bane touches his head and says, "Thanks Norton, I like it."
Norton loves his mother's caresses and is as happy as a butterfly.
"Mom, let's get my sister back! Dad said, my sister can go home directly after the examination, and we can live together all the time, I am so happy! Mother, are you happy?"
Bane paused for a moment and, seeing Norton's happy face, replied, "Happy."
Norton hugs her in his arms and asks softly, "Mom, will you accept me quickly?"
Bane's eyes widened and there was a look of astonishment on his face.
"I see, I have come too suddenly, you have not got used to me, but, mother, can you start to get used to me?"
Bane can't help feeling a little sour. She thinks she's hiding it all, but Norton, a sensitive and intelligent child, can sense her confusion at once.
She's also Norton's mother.
Still, she was a little strange compared to Sophie.
Before she knew it, she had thought of him only as Bert's son, but now she knew she was Norton's real mother.
How could she make her son so upset?
Bane chided himself and hugged Norton tightly. "Norton, I'm sorry, I need some time. I'll be quick."
Norton gives a big smile, nods, and says, "Well, I'll wait for Mom."
Bane had made up her mind to accept Norton quickly, so she quickly picked herself up and said, "Let's go get my sister home."
