Chapter 99 The Uninvited Guest
Bane smiled, covered her eyes again, and asked Sophie to lead her inside.
"Mom! You put your feet up, there is a threshold, right, so, mother I pull you go, ok, mother don't go!"
"Sophie, can Mother open her eyes?"
"Yes, Mommy, open your eyes!"
Bane lowered her hand, and was about to laugh at the mystery, when she saw the portrait in front of her and froze.
In this painting, there are four people.
She's in it, Bert's in it, Sophie's in it, Norton's in it.
The four men joined hands.
Sophie's brushwork had improved since she had been trained professionally. She was still a little immature, but she grasped the look and brought out everyone's character.
Bane's happy smile, Bert's cold face, Norton's smartness, Sophie's cuteness.
"Mom! Do you like this picture? I began to draw for a long time, but I haven't finished painting, and when I finish, I will give mom and dad as a gift."
Then Norton says, "Sister said she was going to make this a surprise, but she couldn't help it."
Sophie was suddenly embarrassed. "Brother!" she scolded.
Bane's eyes were frozen on the picture.
She knew by now just how gifted Sophie was at drawing, and how she had almost forgotten all about it.
Sophie felt uneasy when she saw her mother's silence.
"Mom? Is Sophie not drawing well enough?"
When Bane realized it, he shook his head and said, "It's very good. Mother loves it, too. Sophie's amazing.
A bright smile flashed across Sophie's face. "Mom! I was praised by the teacher, oh, and so on I again severe point, give my mother to draw a picture again!"
"Well, remember that, Sophie."
Norton, looking pathetic, said, "Sophie, what about me?"
"And one for my brother!
As Norton and Sophie laugh and talk happily, Bane's eyes fall again on the painting.
It's really like family...
But that was more than she dared hope.
Bane dismissed the fantasy with a wry smile.
In the evening Bert did not return, but Bane slept better and slept straight through the night.
However, an unexpected visitor came to the farm.
Myron stopped people at the door, embarrassed.
Beici is taking Rosa to come to manor, be stopped directly however, cannot go in at all, instant be angry.
"Myron, Bert and I are engaged! Soon to be his wife! Norton is my son. I came to see him. Why did you stop us? I'm Norton's mother! And Norton's grandmother is here!"
Myron continued to block the door. "Don't bother me, Miss Reed, Mr. Ron told me nobody should be let in."
Rosa's brow furrowed. "Bert Ron's betrothed," she said. "Why do you call her Miss Reed? You should call her Mrs. Ron."
"Yes, Myron," said Betsy, "you are only a steward here. Why do you keep me out? I'm the hostess here! It's Bert's wife, the old lady said!"
Myron's gentle face turned cold. He had been Ron's butler for so many years, the man who had seen Mr. Ron grow up, and everyone had been polite to him all that time.
To think that Mr. Ron had been fooled by this woman for six years, and had pretended to be Norton's mother for six years, was an unforgivable disgrace!
"This isn't Ron's ancestral home," said Myron with a cold face. "This Hall belongs to Mr. Ron, and you'd better get off, miss, if you want to go in there, you'll have to ask Mr. Ron's permission."
Betsy felt humiliated, almost had a heart attack, and most of all, she had lost her face in front of her mother.
She just pointed her finger at Myron and started yelling, "Open your dog's eyes! Mr. Rowan's wife is me! And you're keeping me out?"
Myron didn't budge. He didn't budge. He stood there, straight as a mountain.
"You can't get into the Hall unless you've got Mr. Ron's permission!"
Betsy was so angry that she said, "I'm going to try again today! If you don't get out of the way, the old lady will throw you out of Ron's house!"
Myron smiled. "Ron's family are polite people," he said, "but when it comes to bandits and thugs, you don't have to."
"With a wave of his hand, two rows of security guards surged out of the corner, each fully armed, with a fearsome force.
Betsy is instantly frightened. She has forgotten that Ron has a number of bodyguards, all of whom are professionally trained, so it is said that Bert's estate is invulnerable, otherwise Norton would not be in it either.
But she was very reluctant to leave.
Just then Rosa says, "Myron, it was Betsy's fault, I'm sorry, but you know, we really want to see Norton, and it won't hurt Norton, so please let us in."
With the same look on his face, Myron replied, "Madam, you're putting me to a hard time. We always do what we're told. I can't disobey master's orders."
Rosa didn't give up. "I tried to call Bert, but he didn't answer. It was urgent, so we came straight here."
Myron was a little puzzled by this, but he made no attempt to back down.
Rosa's eyes soon turned red and began to cry. Taking the opportunity to give Betsy a wink, Betsy quickly took out her tissue and wiped her eyes. "Mom, I'm sorry," she said, "I'm not proud of myself.
"Myron, I can't help it. My husband, Betsy's father and Norton's grandfather, woke up today. He's been sleeping for years, and now he's awake, and he knows Norton, and he's clamoring to see his grandson."
When he heard that, Myron was surprised.
Bane, who was standing inside and listening, heard these words with astonishment on his face.
She froze there, the body is frozen, all the thoughts in the brain are emptied, the ears have been buzzing.
