Chapter seventy seven
Drew
I could feel it, that buzzing energy within me was threatening to break to the surface. That urge to trap, dismantle and kill was running through my stems. I usually prided myself as a good sniper, one who shoots without missing its aim and this has helped me in more ways i could count.
I was the king of my lair, lord over all the other people and they knew better than to come near my turf. When i was in a killing mode, they knew better than to come near me because i was really dangerous especially when it comes to that.
Sometimes, i usually let my prey go but not until after sucking their precious life blood. In most cases, they wouldn't survive because i had taken an important element from them- the will to live. They usually became a shallow, skeletal image of themselves and some times, they ended it all by drowning in the pool of despair.
They didn't call me the Rejected Alpha for nothing. I trapped your soul, your very essence and turned you into a shell of yourself. Now, i was usually left alone because none of the other people wanted to associate with me for fear of incurring my anger. I liked to be left alone because it afforded me the opportunity to think and plan towards catching my next prey which happened to be the man called Alpha Jed.
The grubby image in my dream was still far below me and i was patiently waiting for it to come up before i struck. I looked down at it with menacing eyes, willing it to move towards me. It hadn't yet transformed into that disgusting creature that usually flies about, disturbing the peace of my lair but i knew that soon, the idiot would fly above me.
The idiot seemed to be looking for something especially with the way it seemed to move about. Though it was slow, it moved with a purpose i hadn't seen in any kind of enemy before.
It had a dirty brown color but i was not fooled by it because i knew that it was simply a camouflage to hide from bigger predators that might want to make it its next meal. That was the mistake the enemy made.
It underestimated me, thinking i was completely harmless not knowing i was a much deadlier predator than all the other predators combined, i was the Alpha after all and my killing tactics were second to none.
The enemy climbed my leg, trudging much slower than before and i knew that soon, i would have it in my grasp to do as i please. Just then, the enemy stopped, looking back down from where it came from.
It seemed to have a rethink as i watched it crawl back down, going farther away from me. I shook my hands in hopes of luring it back but it didn't budge as it climbed off me completely.
It moved towards a small pool of water that sat at a corner of my lair. Dipping its grubby head down, it took a sip of the water, making sure that it doesn't fall completely in. I was outraged. I couldn't quite believe that this creature would crawl down my body just for a drink of water.
I seethed, swaying my hands wildly but there was nothing i could do since the enemy was far below and i was high above. The only thing i could do was to bid my time, pending when the creature would come back up.
The enemy moved towards a far corner of the area, laying down to take a nap because it looked like that was what it was doing. I was enraged but i patiently tamped down on my anger because that wouldn't lead me anywhere.
As i waited for the grubby idiot to come back up, my mind was filled with different ways i would use to catch this prey because deep down, i knew it would come back up and when it does, i would waste no time in delivering the final blow.
I stared closely at the creature and i was convinced that it was medium sized. Though the weaker enemies were easy to catch, i knew that this would not be hard because i was much more bigger and swifter than the stupid idiot who thought it was smarter than me.
First off, i would squeeze the life out of it, making sure that it had no chance of escape. In this way, dismantling it part by part wouldn't be a problem because i had already rendered it useless. When i was done with that, i would cut off all its parts bit by bit and revel in eating its parts. Call me dark or devilish but that was just who i am.
I had killed a lot of enemies in the past and i was going to kill many more because i was determined to rid my lair of all weak creatures. They didn't deserve to live because they sure as hell weren't contributing to my pack which trained nothing but the best warriors which was overrun by them. Now, i was pretty sure that creatures like these were even more than we strong wolves and this was something i found disturbing because they shouldn't even have existed.
The enemy was still resting and i knew it would be a long time before it got up from its slumber especially since it looked tired and out. This didn't deter me as my plan was still prominent in my mind. I wouldn't spare the idiot because it was not in my nature to do so. It had come to my turf and surely, there was no going back.
I was the Alpha King, slayer of the enemies and i took it upon myself to rid my pack of any organism that appeared remotely dangerous because that was what i was meant to do, i was sure about it.
My mind flashed back to when i was only a little boy, with no knowledge of how great i would become. When i was younger, my whole mind was just centered on being the biggest and strongest wolf but now that i was older, i knew i could be much more than that because i was created for greatness.
The first step in me actualizing that dream was by showing no mercy to any creature that stepped into my pack especially the enemies. It was my duty to show them that i wasn't a wolf that could be messed with and i would set an example by using this enemy who thought he could come and go as it pleased. I was irritated by everything it stood for and couldn't wait to deal with it.
Like an answer to my prayer, the enemy rose up from its slumber, looking around like it had no sense of direction. It went back towards the little pool of water, dipping its head once more as it took a sip from the cool liquid. If i played my game well, this would be the last time the creature would ever take water.
I was prepared not to fail because failing was not in my agenda and i wouldn't begin now. When the slimy idiot was done, it crawled towards me and i stood still, lest i chase it away. I knew it was scared but still, i was quite confused as to why it still trudged on bravely. Perhaps it had already said its final prayers and was not afraid to die. Perhaps it was fed up with the life it lived and wanted to put an end to it all or perhaps it thought it had a chance in fighting me.
If that was what it was thinking about, it would get the rudest shock of its life because i sure wouldn't give it any chance to escape talk more of fighting me.
It climbed up my hand, slowing making its way towards its death. My trapping mechanism was in full form and all i was waiting for was for it to place one grubby leg into the death center before i sucked it in entirely. It was half way through already and within minutes, i would have it where i wanted it to be, in my belly.
As it crawled closer, i discovered that the color of this enemy was in fact a dirty yellow, one synoymous to the rival pack rather than the brown i originally thought it was. This didn't stop me from proceeding with what i wanted to do. It was very close to me now, so close that i could actually see the little perky dots it had for eyes.
Come closer. And like an answer to my prayer, it was suddenly where i could grab it. I did that with all my strength and suddenly, it didn't feel like it was one of my killing act. It felt like a personal vendetta, something i had always wanted to do and now that i had it in my grasp, there was no letting go.
The enemy struggled and i knew that it was its instinct struggling to free itself from my tight grasp. There was no use as it was way in too deep and could never get out no matter how hard it tried.
I had finally conquered this one and i knew that there were many more and i was fully ready to destroy them all.
I woke up with a start, looking around me. There was nothing odd and i realized that it was all a bad dream but the contents of the dream all looked real. I was filled with a cold sweat that never seemed to reduce.
That was a warning and i knew i'd be a fool not to yield to it. I might have defeated the enemy in my dream but i'm not sure i might be lucky in reality.
