Promise

Emily’s Pov

“Where are we going?” I ask Blake, who drives into a forest with no roads, only trees, flowers and birds chirping. The scene is beautiful and so relaxing. Blake doesn’t answer me and only focuses on the bumpy road in front of him.

“Are you going to kill me?” I joke and smirk.

“You will see.” we drove for about another mile until he stopped.

A beautiful lake is in front of us. The water is so clean that you can actually see the fish swimming in the Lake.

“What are we doing here?” I asked with curiosity.

“Training.” he opened my door and took my hand like a proper gentleman. I smiled while following him to the lake.

He removed his close and jumped into the water.

“Are you crazy? It’s like 15degrees.” I fold my arms and raise my brow.

“Get in, you have to face the unbearable moments to defeat the unknown.” He lectures. Really? This is how he wants me to face the unbearable. I think I’ve managed to face the unbearable when he rejected me the other night. I shook my head and tried to forget about the jerk he was.

“Get in. The moment you get used to the cold, then you can face anything that’s coming your way,” he said with confidence, but I’m not so sure.

I removed my shoes and jacket.

“Okay, so how am I supposed to get into the water? I don’t even have clothes.” I look down at my denim.

“So, just removed your clothes,” he responded.

“Blake, let’s just go to the gym, it’s cold and..”

“Are you scared I will remove your underwear?” he asks with a smirk, interrupting me and making me blush.

I removed my jeans and stayed in my T-shirt. I move closer to the deck and put my toes into the water and the cold shoots electricity through my entire body.

“It’s not that bad.” Blake moved closer to me and before I could answer back, he pulled me into the water and I gasp for air when the cold hit my entire body.

“Are you crazy?”

“No, but you didn’t expect that, did you?” I shook my head and moved closer to him, where he holds me up.

“Always expect the unexpected.” he smiled and kissed my forehead. The water is freezing, but it’s becoming bearable the more I move around. I guess that’s what he’s trying to show me, that the situation might be unbearable, but when you get used to it, you can handle it. I smile at him and wrap my legs around him.

“Why are you smiling?” he asked.

“Thank you.” he smiled back, knowing exactly why I say thank you. I went underneath the water, keeping my eyes open to see how the small fish were swimming in circles and it seemed so peaceful that I almost run out of air when I came up from the bottom again.

“Are you okay?” Blake asked, concerned.

“Have you ever wondered how life would’ve been for us if we didn’t have to fight each day to keep our head above water? To stay alive and fight each day to not lose yourself, I mean the person you supposed to be?” I asked, looking him straight in the eye.

“Can I be honest with you?” He asked, pulling me closer to him.

“I never cared for life before. I never cared to survive the next day as a human. I only cared for my next fight and to be the best until I met you.” My heart sinks when he pulled me even closer.

“You changed something in me. Something that was missing and I could never find it until the day I picked you up, full of bruises. I never cared to save anyone besides myself. The day I lost my sister and mother, I lost my humanity, but you brought me back.” Tears flow out of my eyes. I never took him for someone so deep. I’m falling for him and I’m scared there is no turning back this time.

This time I’m wrapped in his spider web and I don’t want to break free and I pray he means what he’s saying and that I’m not just some toy to play with.

“You helped me break free from the memories I kept inside for years, and I want to help you break free from the fear you’ve been carrying for years.” he placed his forehead against mine and kissed me gently. My entire body shivers and not because of the cold water.

“Don’t break me, please,” I whispered into his mouth. His eyes turned warm, and he placed a soft kiss on my forehead.

“I won’t break you, and you have to promise to never leave me the way my mother did.” I smiled and my heart burned when I saw the loneliness of missing his sister and mother.

“I won’t leave, I promise”

“Good!” he said in a low yet sexy voice.

“Can we please get out of the water now?” he nodded and smiled while he picked me up and placed me on the deck.

I dressed in my jeans and removed my t shit to pull my jacket over me. The wind is freezing, and it doesn’t even bother Blake. Well, with muscles like that, who would be cold?

I giggled at myself when Blake caught me staring.

“Pizza and movies? Or do you want to go out tonight?” he asked while zipping up his pants. Actually, I would just be happy to be naked next to him in bed with only the lights that are dimmed and the wind blowing outside, while he kisses me all over my body.

“Pizza and Movies would be fine,” I answered and smiled.
