HYBRID HOOK 21
Megan looked at her friend lying on the couch in the living room, she was looking at nothing and her eyes got teary. His heart sank to see her so sad. He walked over, placed Abbie's head on his thighs, and sat down.
"Should I call HybridFalls ?" he asked, stroking Abbie's dark hair.
- For what? No!
“To curse this Hook. Damn, I hate seeing you like this...
“It's all my fault, Megan. He never promised me anything, he made it clear that his intentions were just sex and I agreed. I'm the one who deluded myself and I'm dealing with it alone. I am well.
— I know... Do you want to eat more vegetables? Abbie had to laugh.
— I've had a lot of vegetables today. “Thanks for looking out for me,” she replied, then looked up at Megan.
“That's what friends do. I ordered a vegetarian pizza, it should be here soon, you've been on that couch for almost a whole day, do you want to go exercise in your room? Practice self-defense again?
“I still have a sore foot from earlier today. she said with a laugh.
Earlier they had started the basics of self-defense by watching videos on YouTube and Abbie ended up with a sprained foot. Suddenly the doorbell rang.
"The pizza has arrived!" - she said getting up to go open the door.
At this moment Abbie felt a strange shiver run down her spine, a sick feeling settled in her stomach.
“Megan, don't open it until you've looked through the peephole. - Abbie said getting up from the couch, apprehensive.
Megan nodded and looked into the peephole in the door, turning her head to look at her pale-faced friend.
“It's Adam. - Megan said moving only her lips.
The doorbell rang again, louder this time and repeatedly.
"Open up Megan!" I know you're home. I'll break down the door! - he screamed.
"What do you want, Adam?" Megan yelled back.
“Your house is surrounded if they try to escape through the back. I put bugs on when I came here last time and I know my sister is there.
Abbie's knees almost buckled, she had to hold onto the couch to keep from falling.
"Go away or I'll call the police." Megan threatened.
“If you call the police, I'll kill you both before they even think to show up here. I have explosives.
Abbie was shaky, she felt like throwing up with the fear washing over her, but she tried to remain calm.
"What do you want, Adam?" Go away! Abbie screamed.
- You idiot! I'm all fucked up because of you! Markus wants her and if I don't bring her to him, he'll kill me.
- Screw this! What a kill, you won't be able to catch me.
Abbie ran into the bedroom and grabbed her cell phone, immediately dialing Breeze's number.
"This is Breeze." the female voice said when he answered.
"Please I need help."
"Shit." The female growled on the other end of the line.
"I'm texting you the address." She whispered and then screamed in fright as the door fell to the floor. Adam broke in.
She texted the address and sent it before hiding her phone and running into the living room, worried about her best friend. When he arrived in the room, Adam had a gun pointed at Megan's head.
"Don't try anything or I'll shoot your little friend."
“I'm not going with you, Adam. Abbie held up her hands.
“Markus wants her. Either it's you or it's me. I don't want to die, so come as soon as he's waiting for you.
- Where? Where is he?
- In the other side of the city. Come with me and get in that car or I'll kill your friend, take your pick.
Abbie thought she needed to buy time. HybridFalls was forty minutes from Megan's house, it was going to take a long time.
“What do you say we team up and take out Markus, huh? He won't harm me anymore and he won't be a threat to your life. — decided to bluff.
Please, Breeze... He begged mentally.
“He's on my tail. Stop stalling and let's go.
“I can help you hide and get protection. I know some people who can take down Markus. I hoped I sounded sincere.
He looked at Megan who looked pretty scared but was trying to stay calm too.
“I'm serious, Adam. We are brothers! You saved me once and I trust you will save me again.
“You hate me for giving you away again.
“Yes, but I'm willing to forget everything if you don't take me again and join me against Markus. Who's out there? Is the house really fenced?
“No, I bluffed but I have explosives and if I press a button I can blow everything up. Markus just said he's being investigated and he can't put his men out on the street for now so they don't get caught and tortured until he tells the truth about some business he's been doing... - Adam widened his eyes regretting having said too much - Forget what I said, Abbie. Just let's go dammit! He gave me twelve hours to get you back, he won't hurt you, he's obsessed with you, you know that.
“I can't, Adam. You know what he'll do to me if he ever gets his hands on me again. Please think back to when we were little and you used to protect me from Dad when he was drunk and wanted to hit me. Tears filled her eyes.
The story was true and the thought of what his brother had become hurt, the betrayal hurt so much. She watched his expression tremble a little, she had had some impact on him.
It had been ten minutes, and he was pleadingly hoping that Breeze would send help soon.
“Markus is dangerous. He threatened me, he will kill me if I don't take you! Adam exclaimed with tears in his eyes.
"I already told you I can help you." I met some powerful people, the Hybrids , you've heard of them, haven't you? They can help us, they helped me when I ran away from you, they rescued me and now I'm here. she said trying to convince him.
"I've heard of them... I've heard that our law doesn't apply there." Could it be that if I live there, all my crimes out here will be forgiven?
Abbie took a deep breath, felt a little relief that he was starting to believe her. So he decided to keep lying.
- Of course yes. Look, I spent three days with a Hybrid and we got involved, he'll do anything for me, I can help you, just put that gun down and let Megan go, she's not to blame for anything, so I pick up the phone and call her they come for us. What do you think?
Adam hesitated, his hand shook a little and then he pushed Megan closer to Abbie.
“I let go of your friend but I'm going to keep pointing the gun at you. Call them, put them on speakerphone, I want to hear if what you're saying is true.
- He is well. I'm going to get my cell phone.
"Let's get it." Both of you, walk ahead of me.
Adam pointed the gun at Abbie and Megan and then they walked into the bedroom. Abbie picked up her cell phone.
"Wait, it's stalling a little." — she lied, tapping the device twice — I'm dialing the number. he said as he typed a message to Breeze.
"Just confirm everything I'm saying. I beg you." He sent and then pressed to make the call.
