HYBRID HOOK 23
The helicopter ride and arrival at the medical facility were a blur for Hook. The medical team was already ready to receive Abbie and Megan, they went in and then he couldn't do anything else. It was all in the doctors' hands now. He would remain in the waiting room until he heard from her.
Hours passed and memories of moments with Abbie surfaced. No one had ever attracted him as much as she did, one night he was in bed with her making love and now the next night she was on a stretcher unconscious and bruised.
He was proud to admit that she was important to him and that what he felt went far beyond being aroused. She opened up to him, told her story, he knew who she was running from and yet he allowed her to go, just so she was out of sight and not a temptation.
His hatred for humans spoke louder, he couldn't stand the idea of being so attracted to a human and Abbie paid the price, if he had asked her to stay, everything would have been different.
Emotions almost choked him. He struggled to breathe as hours and hours passed and he had no news. I wanted to roar with rage and punch a wall until it broke, or rather, punch a certain human or two. When he got his hands on Adam Rydler and Markus Mason, he would kill anyone who tried to pull him off them.
He knew he would never forgive himself if Abbie didn't open her eyes again or if she had some aftereffects from the accident.
You are strong, little one. Open your eyes and be well. You can hit me and call me a boring asshole and an idiot. Just wake up. He pleaded silently.
"Fuck, why all this delay?" Hook growled. He was pacing the waiting room with Blade.
His attention went to the nurse who appeared in the room.
“What's going on in there? Hook questioned, approaching the man threateningly.
“They're doing thorough tests, apparently there's no external damage but she's still unconscious. We need to find out why. — Paul the nurse reported.
"She's been in there for five hours now!" he exclaimed in exasperation.
— Dr. Ali is watching her and carefully analyzing her test results, it seems there is a change that she is still confused to be one hundred percent sure of.
— What change? Can she die? Is her life in danger? Hook moved closer to the man.
Blade, understanding what Hook wanted to do, rose to interfere with anything that might happen.
- Calm. Don't do that, he's just doing his job. Blade touched his friend's shoulder.
“The doc told you to go rest, Abbie's out of danger and she's just waiting to be sure about some tests she's run on her before releasing someone to see her.
- I'm not leaving here. Hook snarled at the orderly.
- So stay. I just came to inform you. The nurse turned to leave.
"Wait, is Megan okay?" Blade asked.
— Yes, Midnight helped her with clothes and bath. Now she is resting in a room.
"Did she have any serious injuries?" Blade questioned.
“Her leg was broken, she said a beam fell on her but it's been treated and put in a cast. She's sleeping, she was very sleepy because of the strong pain medicine she took.
- Thanks for the information. - He thanked and Paul left.
Hook decided to sit down for a while, he wasn't going to leave until he saw with his own eyes that Abbie was okay, Blade sat with him hoping to see Megan when she woke up. It was after midnight and both ended up napping in the upholstered chairs until the next morning.
Hook and Blade were awakened by footsteps in the corridor of the medical center, it was daylight and their attention was on Dr. Alisson when she appeared in the room, her facial expression was a bit dark and confused.
- How is she? Hook got to his feet and asked without waiting a second.
- Good Morning. Did you spend the night here? The doctor looked tired.
- Yea. Now tell me, can I see you? Hook asked in anguish.
"What about Megan?" I want to see her too. Blade said.
“Blade, Megan is in the last room down the hall. You can go see her, she has already been discharged, take the opportunity and accompany her to the female dormitory.
Blade left quickly, and before Hook asked again, the medic began to speak.
“Abbie has a severe concussion from a hard impact, hasn't woken up yet but is not life-threatening. I'm worried though, she should have been awake for at least a few seconds but she didn't. The Doctor looked down at the floor, seeming hesitant to say anything.
Hook was relieved to know his life wasn't in danger, but another part of him was worried by the look he saw on the doctor's face.
"What's wrong, Doc?"
"I need to speak with you privately." Can you accompany me to my office? Abbie is in the exam room.
Hook tensed and just nodded following the doctor into her office. Whatever was wrong, it was bad for her to want to talk to him in private.
- Please sit down. — Dr. Ali asked and he frowned.
"Don't bullshit Doc. Hook demanded but sat down.
— It's a delicate subject, it took me a while to verify that this was what I was seeing, but it seems so.
- Which is?! he growled in exasperation.
"I took an x-ray of her head and that's how I found the concussion, then I did another battery of tests on her whole body to find any other damage because since she had no external injuries and was unconscious, she could have some bleeding or damage." internal, however I found nothing but the concussion.
- I want to see her! Hook demanded eagerly.
“I haven't finished talking yet. What I mean is, included in those scans is an ultrasound I performed on her abdomen. I thought I was seeing things, it's almost non-existent but I noticed a change. I was confused at first, I made calls to trusted contacts but without giving too many details, rest assured. And I came to the conclusion that there is a gestational sac forming. I spent hours analyzing the images that are very little visible.
Hook looked at the doctor in complete shock, his brain took several minutes to process the information and his heart pounded so hard his ears could hear every beat.
- I can not believe. he murmured incredulously. "She wasn't in heat."
— Pregnancy outside the fertile period can also happen and as a hybrid pregnancy is half the time of a pregnancy considered normal, three to five days can already be detected. It's been three days since you were rescued, hasn't it?
- Yea. he replied, his voice barely out.
“There are changes in her uterus already, Hook. She hasn't woken up yet but when she does, can you break the news or do you prefer I do?
He was still in shock, he thought he was dreaming, it must be a lie. Abbie was early pregnant with her child, they would have a child together. He rubbed his face and got up, he would face whatever came next for the sake of Abbie and the child, even though he knew she would hate him for getting her pregnant. It was all his fault.
- I want to see her. - he said - I'll tell her.
“Okay, she's in the third room on the left. The woman gave a sympathetic smile and Hook left the office.
Abbie is going to hate me. But I deserve it. I'm an idiot.
