Chapter 43 - The Terror
CELESTINA VILLARAMA'S POV
I almost shrieked when I heard the alpha speaking from the threshold of the door. I didn't sense his presence, and I didn't even hear his footsteps approaching. His forehead was full of sweat. I could also see how quickly his shoulders were moving up and down because of how he tried to catch his breath.
"What did you do outside for you to look so tired, Master Siege?" I couldn't suppress myself from asking. Other than being curious about his activity, I was also intrigued to know if he still crossed paths with Leo after he told him to get off of his territory.
The alpha just gave me a deadly glare, and that was enough to shut me off. He walked in front of me, slightly moving his head to his right as a gesture to Kristoffer to move away. "Don't you understand? I said, Get out of my sight, Kris." He coldly spoke to his brother as if they were strangers.
"And then what? Are you going to harass Celeste behind my back?" Master Kristoffer held my left forearm, pulling me behind him as if he were defending me against a bad person. "I'll never allow you to hurt her, Siege. Even if it turns out that you're really his mate, I don't give a damn. I'd rather see you suffer until the end of the world than witness Celeste crying over you for the second time," he said with ferocity in his tone.
If only I didn't know that they were blood-related, I would've instantly thought that they were sworn enemies.
I hurriedly stepped in between them, trying to prevent the tension that's bound to rise if Siege still argues back. "Come on, I'm not worthy to be the reason for your argument... The sun is about to rise in less than an hour and we still haven't rested. Let's have a good night's sleep first, okay?" I raised both of my hands, stretching them side-by-side to push both the alpha and the beta away from one another.
Siege held my hand as he turned around, completely ignoring what the beta said. I thought that Kristoffer would follow us, but he didn't. When I gave him one last glance before stepping out of the dining room, I noticed that he remained in the same spot with a small smile.
But his eyes were literally influencing me to feel sad for him.
"What's with Master Kristoffer lately?" I murmured a query to myself, not knowing that I blurted it out when it was supposed to only stay in my mind.
"Stop being curious about Kris; he's got nothing to do with your life," Siege said before he let go of my hand. "What did he tell you about Leo?" He crossed his arms as he blocked my way.
"Just about the fact that Beta Leo lost his mate because of the two of you," I answered without thinking twice about whether to tell him the truth or hide it from him. "Do you know why the beta left his mate, Lara, in your hands?" I muttered when it was my time to ask questions.
"No." Siege removed his eye contact with mine as he looked elsewhere. "Our bond has drifted apart because of that... But that's all in the past now. If he treats us as his enemies, then so be it. I won't welcome him into my life ever again," he added.
I heaved out a loud sigh. "I can sense that there would be an outbreak of war later on, knowing that Lucas would already find out about Beta Leo's return," I mumbled, as if we were a little bit closer compared to how we used to.
Siege groaned, holding my left shoulder firmly. "Why are you talking to me like I've already forgiven you?"
"I don't even know what I did. You're just getting angry without telling me why."
The alpha's eyes widened, letting me go as he covered his mouth with one of his hands. "T-that's..."
"I already remember everything about you, Snow." I softly called out his name from back when we were still children. "Ace gave my memories back, though I still can't believe if they're really mine or were all fabricated..."
I could see the way that his ears turned red when I called him Snow. "W-what? Ace... That darn kid just doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut," he said, clenching his fists. "And so what are you going to do now that you know that you're Tina, the one that I've been searching for all these years?"
I attempted to hold his wrist, but he avoided my hand. "You don't have to feel guilty about what happened anymore, Siege... If we have to blame anyone, it would be the moon goddess. She was the one who set the two of us apart from each other, and she's also the one who destroyed our world," I uttered.
The alpha shook his head, stepping down the staircase. "If you can say that so proudly, then you probably have no idea what I did to you before. Ace still hasn't given you your whole memory back," he replied.
Other than the fact that Siege and I used to be in unrequited love and that he rejected me as I called him my mate, I no longer have any clue about what could possibly make me hate him.
"Can't you just tell me the truth? I keep on walking on eggshells whenever you're around, and I feel like I'm the only fool in this world. If you could just be honest with me—"
The words that I was supposed to say were cut off when Siege pulled me closer to his body. I continuously blinked, knowing that there were a lot of eyes watching the two of us right now as the sun had already risen.
"If I tell you the truth, you would end up seeking vengeance on me instead of wanting to be my mate, Celestina," he seriously said, staring deeply into me.
