Chapter 44 - The Confession
CELESTINA VILLARAMA'S POV
As expected, at the very second that I opened my eyes while lying on the bed, Amelia immediately bombarded me with questions about what she saw this morning. "What happened while I wasn't around, Miss Celestina Villarama? Why did the two of you suddenly become so close? That was definitely the first time that I've seen the alpha have close contact with anyone!"
Amelia assisted me in standing up from the bed, leading me towards the bathroom to take a short shower. She left me my change of clothes near the door, and when I grabbed it, a small piece of crumpled paper fell from its pocket, which I picked up and read.
"Come outside the yard when you wake up." I uttered the words that were written on the paper. "Who sent this?" I flipped it back and saw the alpha's name. "Siege wants to see me first thing in the morning?" I bit my lower lip to suppress the excitement that was about to sprout within me.
I can't just be happy after how he treated me like trash, even if he'd say that he'll finally accept me as his mate.
"Are you alright? It's almost half an hour and you're still inside... If you don't respond, I'll destroy the door." Amelia spoke from the other side of the door along with a knock.
I opened the door, making her stand up straight, guessing that she was leaning near it. "Were you the one who inserted this paper in my clothes?" I showed it to her, but she didn't seem to know anything about it, so I just shrugged it off. "I'll be away for a while. You can do whatever you want; just don't follow me," I said before I left her all by herself in my room, since she still had to do her job and clean up the room.
"Celestina," Ace called me as soon as I stepped out of the mansion. "I didn't know that you were here... What about Lucas?" he asked, bowing his head to greet me as he stopped beside me.
"Great timing," I mumbled, not bothering to answer his query. "Can you guide me to the pack's yard? I'm still not quite familiar with this realm..."
There was confusion in Ace's eyes, as if he wasn't expecting that the yard would be my destination. "Yard? The one behind this pack house? Did you receive some sort of invitation from the alpha himself?" he consecutively asked me, and I just nodded my head in each question that he gave.
While one of the pack warriors was leading me the way to the yard, Ace kept on telling me about how Siege had closed down the yard for more than a decade since my disappearance, which was why he was stunned that I was going there. I couldn't help but be amazed when I saw the tall wood fences that blocked the entrance to the yard. There was a small wooden door in the middle. From this distance, I saw Siege's firm back facing us.
"We're here," Ace said, causing me to glance at him with a surprised look. "Don't stare at the alpha too much; you don't know what he might do to you if he caught you with those luscious eyes," he commented before he left.
I gently pulled the wooden door that only reached my hips, making my way through the stony path. I cleared my throat to let the alpha know that I had arrived. "I received your invitation, Siege," I said, bowing my head to gaze upon my feet to avoid having eye contact with him.
"I know. I sensed your presence right after you got off the mansion, until you walked here together with Ace," Siege muttered.
He folded three of his fingers from his right hand, placing his index finger below my chin as he supported it with his thumb in front, forcing me to meet his gaze. Despite being uncomfortable with the position we were currently in, I had no objections to what he was planning to do.
"I have a confession to make; can you lend me your time for today?" His calm voice soothed my ears, and I never expected that the alpha's tone could sound this tender.
I breathed in heavily, calming myself. No matter what the alpha says, nothing can remove the fact that he made me suffer for days after he rejected me as his mate. I raised one of my eyebrows, carefully holding his hand that held my chin, then dropped it down away from me.
"If you wanted to talk to me, you could have just brought me to your room or your office. Why do we have to go here where no one is around?" I stepped backwards so he could no longer reach me again. "I guess you're planning to take my life here, aren't you? Judging from what Ace told me, I think that you're the only one who has permission to go here and not just anyone, especially without your invitation," I inferred.
For some reason, I felt that he had no intention of harming me this time. Maybe the way that he sees me has begun to change now that he knows that I already have my memories from the past.
"Let's get inside; I'll show you something that might help you recover everything that you've forgotten on your way here," Siege seriously said, turning around to open the door of the small house in front of us.
I followed him inside. The walls all had cracks on them, which was the same for the white tiles below our feet. It's like this place has been left for ages, and no one has cared for its renovation. There weren't many appliances inside because it was only a single room; there wasn't any second floor or any other places like the dining area or the comfort room.
"Don't you remember this place?" Siege asked, letting me roam around the area. "This was the spot where we regularly had our rendezvous. No one among your family wanted us to be together, so we had quite a hard time seeing each other. This was the only space available that they didn't find," he explained.
I formed my right fist into a tight ball, firmly clenching my chest at the same time that my memories flashed through my mind. Everything from the day that my mother first gave birth to me to the years that I had to study, to the years that I've been with Siege, and also to the years that I've been forced to be with Ice.
I remember all of what has occurred in my life now.
Alpha Siege and I were the first ones to meet each other in the real world where I was born. And as he said, my parents did everything just for me to forget about Siege, so they coerced me to reciprocate the feelings that Ice had for me.
Ice was my best friend in school. He was there for me most of the time, and my parents favored him more than Siege, since they feared that Siege would just put my life in danger, knowing that he was a ferocious beast, unlike Ice, who was a normal human.
"W-what are you going to confess? That you sacrificed your love and your life just to let me be with Ice?" I murmured without looking at him, since I was staring blankly in front of the wall.
I sensed the alpha coming near me. He held my wrists, and his hands slowly trailed down mine. He held both of my hands as gently as he could, intertwining his fingers with mine. "C-Celestina..." He stuttered as he called me. "I-I was the one who killed your parents, Celestina..."
