Motionless
That's not true.
"No!"
"Ah!" I whined when I felt my body hurt as soon as I fell from my seat.
I ran my hands through my senses to massage it when it suddenly ached.
What was that?
My eyes pinned down to the woman who was peacefully sleeping on the bed next to me.
Dream... biggest nightmare.
I let out a deep sigh before gently pulling her hand and placing it on my cheek. I sighed again in relief when it was still warm.
"I will never let that dream happen," I whisper, but I flinched and an overwhelmed feeling immediately took over me the moment someone broke the door and an uncountable amount of nurses hastening entered the room.
"Defibrillating!"
"Charge the paddles to 200 watts!"
"Got it."
"I'm sorry, Sir. But you need to get out."
No. No! This was exactly the scenario in my dream!
"N-no, I can't. I can't go out! Why is it that when you only have a little time left, that's when you're just gonna move?!" I couldn't help but exclaim at the nurses and doctors who were just now moving their asses out to save the patients here! They are all worthless!
"Clear!"
"Sir, don't be so stubborn. Our time was only limited to saving all the patients who are dying inside this hospital!" She patiently pleaded, my tears started to flow when they cleared Ciara's body several times.
I can't watch this...
"Save my wife, please.." I pleaded for the last time before finally leaving the room with a slumped shoulder.
That dream... It can't come true. That won't happen, right? She'll be alright. She'll be saved
"Help!! For Jesus's sake, help my son! Please!" With a loud cry and frustrated groan, my attention darted to the old woman shouting from the other room. I took a step nearer its room and was surprised to see that the machine's line was already straight. I can definitely hear the old woman's heartbreaking sobs as she watched her son not survive.
When nurses and doctors hurriedly entered the room, I took a step back. Roaming my eyes around, I noticed that everyone was whining, shouting, weeping, and continually requesting assistance.
My shoulder dropped when I witnessed the heartbreaking death of the young boy who's now laying on the white bed, lifeless.
"Please! Somebody help my wife, please!" turning my head to another man who had caught my eye and was now begging and kneeling in front of the nurses who were rushing down the corridor due to the high number of individuals seeking assistance.
Unconsciously ran a hand through my head in frustration when someone passed in front of me in a hurry while pulling the stretcher with someone lying down. I immediately averted my eyes when his body was almost drowned in his own blood. Biting the inside of my mouth because of dizziness when almost everyone is scrambling with nurses and doctors who only have to save their families in the midst of death.
"W-wait! Where are you going?! D-don't leave my child!" The misery in Tita's voice caused me to swiftly gaze in their way, and my eyes just widened as I saw that Ciara's room had neither nurse nor a doctor remaining.
Jennifer shrieked, "W-where are you going? What are you going to do, Tyron?!" She even managed to pull my clothes back as I was ready to enter the room. She even threw me a glare, seeming enraged watching me step my foot ahead of the door of the room as if she was telling me not to do stupid things.
I feel offended by how she looks at me, and feel like she won't trust me no matter what happens.
"There's no more nurses or doctors available here, Jennifer! My wife isn't going to make it if I let her just lay down there, while I'm here doing nothing, watching her slowly dying! We need to move, Jennifer. So please, put your hands off me, we need to move!" I could not explain the depth of my voice when I answered her, I could feel the trembling and coldness of my whole body.
I want to get angry and yell at Jennifer because she was able to ask me that kind of stupidity, but it overwhelms me to think I can't blame her if she thinks that way about me because I'm the one who's at fault here.
"Just please, stay here and do nothing! I don't trust what you're going to do so just fucking stay here! And stop acting now as if you really care about Ara even though you're the one who put her in here and you're the one who wanted this! "I was stunned for a moment by what she said, my chest seemed to throb when she threw those expected but painful words.
Her tears welled up once again. I diverted my gaze when I noticed her enraged eyes as if she was blaming me for everything by the way she looked.
"This would not have happened to Ara if you hadn't come into her life, if only I had known this was how she would end up with you, I hope I didn't trust you anymore." Its tone was full of hatred and shame, and I could feel the rage even though I wasn't looking at her.
"Once I lose her and she doesn't get up in there, don't you ever try to show your shameless face to me again. This will be my second warning to you, I would literally kill you once I lose her, Tyron. Mark my words and pull yourself together, don't you dare try to mess up again." Her sharp eyes gave me a spine-chilling, not wanting to meet her eyes, I heard her scoff and walked away.
I barely looked up to suppress what I was feeling as well as the trembling of my hands, and even though she was no longer in front of me, I could still feel the tension she had left in my system. I wanted to cry out in exasperation, but it just got worse when Tito placed his hand on my shoulder. I was looking at him shakily. He looks serious and I can't see any emotion. My fear and nervousness got even bigger, for a while and I wanted to avert my eyes but was surprised by what he said next.
"I'm trusting you, Tyron, please... save her." There was silence between us, at that moment, even though I knew he didn't want me here. I can still clearly feel the sincerity in his voice and the eagerness to save his daughter. His eyes welled up with tears, looking so worried and upset when he saw how almost all the nurses and doctors were no longer accessible at the moment.
"I have no assurance that she will be safe at this time. Although I don't want you to be here..." He returned his sight to me and patted my shoulder again, slowly nodding at me and said, "I have no one else to trust with my daughter's life except you."
"Do what you can. I'm counting on you," he said again, despite the fact that I knew what he was doing right now was against his will. I merely sighed and bowed my head down.
I'm not sure what I'll do, but I need to get moving before everything falls apart.
I unlocked the door and stepped inside gently before closing it and putting on the mask and gloves that were on the table.
I took a deep breath and stared at her body, which was still laying on the white bed while listening to the continuous sound of the machine next to her. Because of the great uneasiness, I am experiencing at the moment, I could feel the dryness in my throat and felt as if I had lost my voice for a brief period. I took a few steps closer to her and forced myself to speak, despite the fact that I knew there was no way she would hear what I had to say.
"Please, wife, wake up.." I pleaded before I took a look at the tools I can use. But I was disappointed that even one object I could see was unfamiliar to me...
"Damn it." I curse under my breath and because of a feeling of anxiousness and uneasiness I can't control, I couldn't even think right about what to do, so restless that I didn't know where to go first. I didn't even notice that there was a table beside me and bumped into it. I flinched when something fell continuously, realizing that the stuff which was neatly placed earlier on the table was now scattered on the floor.
The moment I stepped back because of shock, I was totally out of my mind when I accidentally stepped on one of the things that were on the floor and slipped. I was about to lose the balance that's why I abruptly grabbed something that I can hold on to get my weight back, but I guess that's just the misfortune I have was the problem here because I didn't get to realize immediately that the thing I grabbed was the defibrillator wire that was connected to the machine, wherein quietly obvious is going to fall right ahead in Ciara's body.
"Fuck!" I cursed. I quickly got up and yeet my body over Ciara's body to cover her and in such a matter of seconds… "Ah!" That's when I felt the strong force of the heavy machine fall on me and heard the sudden gasp of someone.
I tightly shut my eyes when I felt my back hurt so much and couldn't move from my place. But I was in such a hurry carefully removing the machine behind me as well as the wires surrounding me and getting up again when I remembered who was under me.
Fuck, no!
My eyes widened when I saw Ciara… motionless.
N-no. Did I screw up?!
"C-Ciara?" I called her name out, shaking and nervous as I checked her pulse.
No pulse...
