For whatever reason, Tyler had apparently left our quarters after the knock and had not reappeared until now. But I didn't notice that until the next morning when I woke up. The other side of the bed was completely untouched. He was not to be found in the other rooms either.
I grabbed new things from my bag and changed quickly. I actually hoped that Tyler would show up soon, but that didn't happen.
I found another apple in a bowl, which I ate while sitting outside by a window. The window faced the same direction as the entrance so I hoped to see Tyler when he came back. I would have loved to go outside to see if he was somewhere nearby. After all, I didn't want to stay here alone. All that stopped me was Brandon's ban on walking the grounds alone. I didn't even want to know what they would do to me as a person if they caught me.
From the window I could see someone approaching our accommodation. At first I thought it was Tyler or someone from this pack, after all some kind of 'care' had been announced for me, but as I got closer I realized who the person really was. It was the brunette girl's companion stomping towards the house.
When he reached it, he yanked open the door and was in front of me seconds later. "There you are!" he growled at me. I looked at him in shock, not understanding what he was doing here. Strangely enough, my first thought was that he wasn't allowed to walk around here alone, was he?
He took another step towards me. I backed away from him automatically, but quickly bumped into the wall. The werewolf grabbed me and when I tried to escape he shoved me against the wall with full force. My head slammed against the wall and a sharp pain spread from the back of my head. A few dark spots appeared before my eyes, taking up most of my vision, but I was just able to keep myself conscious.
The growl of the man in front of me brought me back to reality a bit. A hand wrapped around my neck and squeezed. I wanted to free myself in panic, but I just managed to do it.
"You make me look incapable to the Alpha of controlling my own mate! I won't let that sit on me!" the man growled, whose name I didn't even know. I couldn't really follow what he said either. I hadn't done anything.
Just as the air in my lungs was getting really tight, a far louder growl drowned out my opponent's growl.
Suddenly he let go of me and disappeared from view while I slid down the wall with my back and just stayed on the ground. Another person knelt in front of me. "Hey, everything will be fine, you hear.", the voice spoke to me soothingly. "Hey Jo, can you do this here alone. I would like to take her to the doc. She's bleeding from the back of her head and someone should do it look over it." He addressed a person I hadn't noticed before. My eyes finally managed to focus on something again. The man in front of me was about Tyler's age and had short black hair.
"Sure, I can do it Jared.", the other person answered. The man, who was probably called Jared, then turned back to me. "Don't be alarmed, I'll lift you up and take you to a doctor." Without waiting for any reactions on my part, he picked me up and carried me somewhere with quick steps. My vision kept blurring.
"Hey, you have to stay awake now! We're almost there."
I felt like I was being laid somewhere. Two voices in the room were talking to each other. As my vision cleared, I felt like I was seeing double. I saw twice the man who had brought me here. Irritated, I blinked several times in a row and hoped my vision would normalize.
One of the two people leaned towards me. Only then did I realize that there were really two people standing in front of me. But the two looked absolutely identical. With the best will in the world I could not have noticed any difference between them.
"Hello, I'm Luke and I'm the second pack doctor of this pack. I'd like to take a look at your injuries." The man who had bent over me spoke in a calm voice. Only now did I notice his typical doctor's clothing. I also only now noticed the smell of disinfectant.
This Luke turned back to his presumed twin brother: "Is she the girl who can't speak?" His brother nodded. "Yes, she is. If it doesn't bother you, I would just be on my way and her companion. He should be informed as soon as possible." Before his brother could say anything else, he was gone from the room.
The doctor shook his head, but turned back to me: "Okay, let's settle a few things so that we understand each other. If what should be. So if you have more pain or a question or something scares you, you raise your left hand. Then I immediately stop whatever I'm doing and we discuss the problem. You in your case in writing. I'll give you a pen and paper for that." During his last words he ran to a desk, got the said things and handed them to me with a big smile. "Are you okay with that?" I nodded. "My brother told me you were choked. I would still check the head wound first. Could you sit up for that? If anything, just raise your left hand."
As the doctor wanted, I sat up. I felt a bit lightheaded and hoped the wound wasn't that bad. The doctor came up behind me and looked at the wound. "Don't worry I have to remove a few hairs to get a better picture."
I didn't really get it all. Only saw how a little later a few strands of my hair lay next to me. All I felt was a tug at the back of my head, otherwise my body was numb.
I didn't know how much time passed when a loud "Lily!" made me turn my head quickly. But I quickly regretted it. I got dizzy and had to squint to stay conscious.
"Oh damn Lily! What happened?!” Tyler sounded almost panicked. When I opened my eyes again, Tyler was right in front of me. His eyes were wide and he seemed to be searching me for injuries. His gaze lingered on my neck Fixing it, he raised a hand and stroked the spots where the other werewolf's hand had been.
I flinched from the touch. Ever since the childhood incident, my throat had always been a difficult subject for me. I had dealt with pain too often. After all, before the werewolves, various doctors had tried to treat me in some way. Sometimes it was more and sometimes less painful. However, the memories of it were my most vivid from the time after the death of Marias and my parents.
