A few days had passed, but nothing had really happened.
Tyler was even more clingy than usual. I had a feeling that what happened to Luke and Jared affected him far more than he cared to admit to himself. He almost didn't want to let me out of his sight, as if he were afraid that if I had an example in mind, I'd have the idea of doing something myself.
The twins' mate had really gone into a vegetative state and the two were utterly wrecked by that fact. Here I was actually able to experience the cohesion that prevails in a pack of werewolves up close. Everyone tried to help the two in every possible way. And they didn't do this in the typically human way, with some mostly half-hearted words, like that everything would surely get better soon, but by reacting with the greatest sensitivity to what the two might need at the moment. It probably also helped the werewolves a lot that the two twins had grown up here in the pack and therefore everyone knew them and their peculiarities.
There was food as much as they wanted, whereby the pack members made sure to only take the two's favorite dishes. The wolves here also had an incredibly good feeling for how much closeness or distance Jared and Luke needed to be with other people.
It all seemed to me like a terribly complicated but perfectly practiced dance on a knife blade, with everyone concentrating 100% on keeping their balance and not letting the situation tip over.
However, Jared and Luke didn't seem to get too much of it from my perspective. They practically lived past the pack. Ate, slept, and watched her companion day and night by her bed. To my knowledge, they had only left the room to use the toilet and take a shower since the incident.
They also didn't let anyone inside, apart from Patrick, who took over the medical duties since Luke was too involved.
Even the Alpha respected that and didn't step into the room.
Patrick, who I honestly expected to make an ugly comment about the human mate, also kept his mouth shut. But I thought it was unlikely that that was entirely his decision. He probably didn't dare to say anything at the moment, since every human-born werewolf here killed him with her eyes, or warned him not to say anything wrong.
Even Luna did that, although that wasn't really surprising, since she herself had a rather negative attitude towards the older pack doctor.
Tyler had to get away from me against his will. The Alpha urgently wanted to speak to him privately.
As a result, his eyes almost panicked, but he didn't have much choice. After all, the alpha argued that nothing could happen to me here. Tyler didn't even have time to find me a babysitter so in fact I was alone and not in the room with us.
To be honest, I still don't know how to get there. So, knowing that Tyler would definitely find me once the call was over, I just walked around and tried to memorize a few places. Since Tyler and I would be staying here, I thought it would be handy if I knew at least a little bit about the area.
To my delight, I found my way out of the pack house relatively quickly.
But in the fresh air, I quickly realized that it was relatively cold. However, I still stayed outside for a short moment, looked around and got stuck on this monstrous building from which I had just come.
He still seemed completely out of place in my eyes.
What was the point of such a magnificent building in the middle of the forest where nobody outside of this pack saw it.
"Oh Lily! What are you doing here?" a familiar voice suddenly asked me from the side.
"Lily.", Luke started to speak: "We have a request" "Two to be exact." Jared interrupted him. Luke rolled his eyes a little.
I looked questioningly from one to the other. What could you ask me for? I was still human, a werewolf's mate, but otherwise nothing special.
"On the one hand, it's about the full moon that's coming up. I know it might be unfair to ask you, after all your mate becomes the alpha of this pack at night. It's an event where every werewolf of this pack will and must attend, and quite frankly, that's where our problem lies. Jared as a future beta has to be there anyway, but I can't avoid this event either."
I looked at the two confused. What did they want from me now?
,, We.", Jared started to speak again and stroked the covers of the bed. ,, We don't want to leave her alone... Oh damn, we still don't even know her name! But everything is in mine together at the thought of leaving her here alone. After all, we'll be gone for hours."
He turned back to me: "I know it's a big request, but could you maybe take care of her here during the full moon night?" could."
I looked at the twins in surprise. What should I do if something happened?
But I couldn't refuse. I could understand why they asked me that, at least roughly. If that were my sister next to me, I wouldn't want to take my eyes off her for a second. And if all the werewolves had to go to the appointment of the new alpha, then only I was left. Though I didn't know if Tyler was okay with that. After all, it was his big night and maybe he wanted me there. To be honest, I had no idea whether I shouldn't be present as his companion. But would the twins suggest it if it wasn't actually possible? And what was the second request now?
"Oh yes, maybe we should tell you about our second request so that you are fully informed before you decide.", Luke said silently after a few seconds. "
This request is maybe a bit more extensive and nothing which you can decide on your own, but it would be good to have your backing when we ask Tyler about it if he's alpha." Jared took the talking away from Luke again.
"We and some others in the pack, especially the younger generation, find the pack house quite overwhelming.
It's quite a ostentatious building.
So we wanted to ask the Alpha if we could move out of the pack house.
It's pretty extraordinary that werewolves would want to do that, but it just throws us off our feet and with our mate, you also wish for a little more peace and quiet.
The rooms are all reasonably well soundproofed, but unfortunately not good enough for werewolf ears.
While and is only slightly embarrassing, there are a few things not everyone needs to know if you understand.
That's why the alpha couple has their own floor at the top."
This time I looked at the two werewolves, positively surprised. They didn't like this magnificent building any more than I did?
It was good to know that even some werewolves didn't like this monster of a building.
Yes how am i supposed to tell luke and jared now, then it occurred to me.
With one hand I hint at writing.
,,Okay wait. I'll just get a piece of paper and a pen.", Luke said and quickly left the room to get the said items.
