One of the twins was standing next to me. I couldn't tell which of the two it was, but he looked pretty exhausted. His face was pale, his eyes dull. Even the preternaturally powerful outward radiance of strength that I've seen in all werewolves except Milo was blown away.
"Let me guess: The Alpha has something important to talk about with Tyler again?" I nodded. The twin seemed thoughtful.
"Would you like to accompany me? I was just catching some air and now I wanted to go back to Jared and our companion." I was a bit unsure. Now I knew which of the twins I was looking at, but I was in a difficult situation. Actually, I wanted it Taking advantage of the fact that Tyler wasn't by my side to have a look around, but I couldn't turn Luke down right now, maybe he just wanted the one person who wasn't very deeply involved in the matter to take his mind off things and there might be something else to talk about than the twins' mate, although I certainly wasn't the best person to talk to, but I was probably the only person Luke had just encountered.
"Lily?", he asked confused and looked at his brother, who was standing behind me.
"I thought that the situation would be quite favorable.", Luke said and his brother just nodded in understanding.
"Would you like to sit down, Lily?" Jared asked, pointing to the only chair in this room. It was next to the hospital bed, where the girl was still lying.
However, the sight of the girl bothered me a bit. It wasn't even all the equipment and hoses that scared me so much. Her eyes were open and she was staring into the emptiness, even blinking.
I gestured uncertainly to alert the twins.
"Yes, our mate is awake right now, although more physically than mentally.", Luke said and walked past me. He took her right hand in his and breathed a small kiss on the back of her hand. "I'm back, Please come back to yourself quickly. We miss you." He kissed the back of her hand a second time and gently laid her back on the blanket. Luke turned to me.
"With coma patients it is always difficult to say how much they are really aware. It may be that she doesn't notice anything at all, so she's really just a body without any spirit. However, it would also be possible that she gets all this here, but cannot communicate in any way. So that she is almost trapped in her own body. I don't know what's worse myself... Although a mindless body means less suffering, at least for her, than being motionless, without the possibility of communication, tied up in your own body."
I was still shocked at the sight of the girl as Luke explained the circumstances to me. Jared had gone aside and so I had a clear view of the girl. From my perspective, it looked like she was looking straight at Jared, but wasn't looking at him, just through him. And that look was broken only by her occasional blink.
The twin came back with said things and put them on the bedside table.
I quickly grabbed the pen and began to write.
'If it's that important to you, I'd be more than happy to babysit your mate. But I honestly don't know what Tyler thinks about it.
And do you think Tyler and I need to live in the pack house too? I don't really like the building either and I always get lost'
I kept it as brief as possible and handed the note to the twins.
,, Jared can discuss that with Tyler with him. And as for the house, that shouldn't be a problem. If the alpha couple wants something, nobody will stop them." Luke said to me: "Thanks for taking care of them for us there."
There was silence for a moment, but a few seconds later it was broken by a knock.
Jared, who was closer to the door, opened it just a little.
"Excuse me for bothering you, but have you seen Lily?"
Jared just opened the door a bit so that Tyler, who was standing in front of the door, could see me.
"Oh Lily, there you are. It's good that I found you ", he said honestly worried, but didn't step into the room.
"Tyler? Can I talk to you again in private?" Jared asked him. "Yes, of course." He replied, but seemed a bit confused, but left the room with the twin.
There was silence for a brief moment, but Luke broke it fairly quickly.
"By the way, Lily, if something should happen on the full moon, you can press the red button here. It triggers an emergency signal and then we'll know that something happened.", Luke explained to me and pointed to the button that was attached to the right of the girl's hospital bed. But to be honest, I wondered what this button was supposed to do. Yes he informed her that something wasn't quite right, but they were werewolves on the night of the full moon and couldn't help her any more than I could. Actually, I would have liked to ask that question, but I didn't dare. To be honest, I had the feeling that Luke knew full well that he wouldn't be able to do anything either. I guess he just wanted to put my mind at ease so that I wouldn't worry like that all the time, that I have to do something if something happens even though I have no prior medical knowledge. This point was actually even a bit strange, after all I had spent enough time in hospitals and with doctors. But to be honest, it had scared me off, because for me it was usually accompanied by pain.
The door opened again. Jared and Tyler came back. "Are you coming Lily? I wanted to go eat something and I imagine that you might want something too." I wasn't really hungry, but I heard and understood the small undertone in Tyler's voice. There was a high probability that he wanted to make sure that the twins After all, they really hadn't let anyone in here but me and Patrick, so I got up, nodded goodbye to the twins, and left the room.
As we exited the building, Tyler pulled me into his arms. "I don't think I'm allowed to say it too loud, not that anyone can hear us, but you have no idea how happy I'll be when the alpha is finally gone. I actually wanted to spend the day with you, I even planned a little picnic, but the alpha threw a spanner in the works. But as soon as the full moon is over, I will have more time for you again and then I will also keep my promise to you with the meeting. By the way, I think it's very nice of you to babysit the twins' mate. You probably would have just frozen and not understood."
