A few days passed. I could now move reasonably safely in my wolf body, although it would probably be a while before I could keep up with a born wolf in a race.
In any case, the twins had to be relatively careful not to be too fast and thereby move too far away from me.
Luckily there were no more of these attacks.
I could really do without that.
In the meantime it has settled down a bit so that one day Luke worked in our presence and the other Jared.
Today it was time again that Luke and I followed Jared. To make matters worse, he probably had a lot to do in all possible corners of the pack today. We feel like we're just rushing from one end of the territory to the other.
We met some other members of the pack.
They didn't even seem irritated to see us together all the time. The pack had obviously come to terms with the situation.
I honestly didn't think Tyler would have been so right in his assessment.
We just reached another outpost where some werewolves were already waiting for us.
Jared quickly sat down with the leader of the group while Luke and I sat aside in our wolf form nearby.
Luke relaxed a bit while I looked at each other carefully.
A few of the werewolves here seemed to be quite young.
Some a few years younger than me.
Two of them sat a little way away in human form and talked.
Actually nothing that would be really interesting if I hadn't just heard my name mentioned in the conversation.
Interested and confused as to why my name was mentioned, I listened to the conversation.
"What's the matter with her?" the other wolf asked.
"I know we're not really supposed to get involved in this, but if I were you I'd really try to get the bite over with."
The speaker looked around, looking a little uncomfortable.
Quickly acted as if I would not notice anything. Luckily I guess I was successful. Anyway, they kept talking.
"Why that please?" "
Well her grandmother is here and people get sick much faster. And in the current situation Patrick would have to take care of the woman."
"And?" the other asked confused: "Patrick is a good doctor and has many years more experience than Luke."
"But haven't you ever heard how he treats people? As a person, my mother had dealt with him herself. She and many other changed wolves tell almost horror stories about how Patrick deals with people.
Even Luna shouldn't like him that much."
"Really even the Luna? I haven't heard anything about it, but ok my parents are both born werewolves and not changed. They actually only report good things about Patrick. But if even Luna has something against the guy, there must be something to it."
Shortly thereafter, the conversation between the two switched to another topic and was no longer interesting for me.
I looked over at Luke
for a moment Didn't seem like it
at first glance, but maybe he'd comment on it tonight,
I don't think if he did, I don't think he'd just leave it at me.
He would certainly at least try to take away my worries about this topic. Because I certainly didn't want someone who was known for not having good dealings with people to take care of my grandmother if the worst came to the worst.
Once again I lay awake in bed.
The twins slept soundly this time.
I made this particularly clear by the fact that they didn't even notice that I had crawled out of bed and was now standing outside at the window.
It was relatively dark. You could barely make out the crescent moon in the sky.
Thoughtfully, I put my hand on the window frame.
What should I do now?
For me, my grandmother's well-being was a lot higher than my own.
The twins and grandma herself would probably see it differently, but it was my decision. Tyler had assured me that too.
But nobody would believe me now if I said I want it after all.
It just sounded too spontaneous.
But family came first to me, and Luke was a good, kind doctor.
With him I could be sure that Grandma would be fine, even if she still felt a bit uncomfortable around the twins.
I turned back to the bed restlessly.
How is this all supposed to work?
Should I just bite the two somehow?
Couldn't I just kill her? The teeth as a wolf were quite a murder weapon after all.
I thought back and forth.
I nervously scratched the back of my neck and caught one of the small scars on my neck.
It was the spot where one of the two had bitten me.
I didn't know which of the two it was, maybe it was Tyler's bite that turned me into a wolf.
I figured all three bites were to the nape/throat area.
Therefore, I would probably assume that my bites should also be placed in this region.
At least that seemed logical to me.
But how do you do that without killing your opponent?
Was it some kind of instinct?
Possibly or not.
I took a deep breath.
Was it crazy to think that maybe as a wolf I knew instinctively?
A brief moment of concentration is enough to hear the now more familiar crackling.
Within a few seconds I was standing in the room as a wolf.
I shook myself briefly and padded towards the bed.
I just do it Best now. After all, the courage of the moment had just grabbed me and the twins couldn't contradict me either.
Maybe it was unfair to you, but it wasn't always fair to me either.
Converting against my will and without being fully enlightened about the situation, I found it almost sufficient justice.
I spontaneously jumped onto the bed.
My gaze swayed from one to the other.
Neither of them seemed to have woken up.
In any case, they were both still quiet in bed, Jared even snored a little, as I just noticed for the first time.
With careful steps I walked from the foot end towards the head end of the bed.
I took a deep breath.
Who is the best place to start?
I thought back and forth for a moment.
I would probably only be able to bite one of them before they both woke up. Neither of them would be enthusiastic.
I finally made my decision based on the sleeping position of the twins.
Jared was lying on his side with his back to me while Luke was lying on his back with one of his arms across his head.
I just got better at Jared's neck than Luke's.
Now unsure of my own courage, I hesitated for a moment.
Oh damn, what the heck.
I approached Jared and explicitly his neck. For a moment I feared he would wake up and ask me what the hell I was doing here, but nothing of the sort happens.
