THE BAD SEED
CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN
SARAH’S POV
I kept thinking about what Aunt Kathy had said over the phone about my father throughout the day. I never imagined he would be that heartless and fearless to go looking for me in the most feared mafia don.
It’s a good thing Mr Russell isn’t aware of what he had done because if he did, he won’t spare my father for a minute.
As much as I feel betrayed by my father, I can’t bring myself to see him getting killed which Mr Russell is good at without even thinking.
Once we arrive back in New Orleans, I’ll go and see him along with my salary and most importantly, tell him not to turn up to the mansion anytime he feels like or he might have himself killed.
I wish there’s a way I could punish my father in such a way he won’t ever imagine the pain he has caused to me.
I’m a full grown woman yet I keep fighting and tolerating all he does to me but enough is enough. It has got to stop this time around. I’ll make sure I open up my heart to him even if it leads him to disowning me as his daughter.
Besides, I’ve never been a daughter in his eyes so why should I continue to tolerate all the pain and suffering he has caused to me in the last five years.
I’ve made up my mind and I’ll fight back for all the pain he made me go through and possibly think of a way to plan my life this time around. I’m done being his puppy and a source of income to him.
About Mr Russell, I think he’s beginning to act really differently towards me. At first he was all bossy and ruthless towards me but during these few days, his words have begun to change. He isn’t so busy and he complains less about everything which I really love.
I was really surprised when he gave me his credit card to get whatever I needed. It was really the first time someone has cared that way towards me. I wasn’t used to getting those treatments from anyone which I found so charming.
I’m more than grateful to him for getting all those dresses as well as helping with my new appearance. He made me feel cherished and loved in such a way I’ll always be indebted to him for the new life and new experience he had shown to me.
I was able to get some chocolate which was peanut free for Max while for aunt, I got her a pair of shoes which I’m sure she’s going to love.
I was busy reading a novel which I came along with when I glanced at the alarm clock to see it was past four.
I dropped off the novel and rushed to the bathroom to take a shower since Mr Russell had said he would send some people over to get me ready.
I'll do my best not to disappoint him tonight. I could tell how serious he was about getting the contract which must really mean a lot to him. I want to give it my best to see him get the contract and the first step in making that possible is by getting prepared before the event begins.
JAYDEN’S POV
I got informed not quite long that Mr Hopkins had arrived, that’s why I got ready for the party once and for all before sending the makeover artists that will work on Sarah’s look before the party starts.
I just want to impress him so much that he will have no choice but to sign the contract as a goal for me.
I got to the lounge and saw him having a group discussion with two other men who seemed the same age as him.
“Mr Russell, you finally made it on time. I was giving these men the story of how we met and how I desperately want to meet with the woman taking good care of you.” He said, between laughter as both men joined him too.
If not for the fact that I don’t want to be disrespectful in the presence of his friends, I would have pointed my gun in his forehead for such nonsense. And I won’t care about the d**n contract. He can bloody have it to himself all.
“Are you alright, Mr Russell? Did my words hurt you?” He asked, which made me flush him a smile.
“Not at all. My angel is getting prepared for the party. You know how women can be just to look good.”
“That’s right. I can’t wait to meet with her, Mr Russell. Please, join us for a drink.” He said and gestured to me for a seat next to him.
“I can see, you’re one h*ll of a lucky man. Without even getting to meet her, I can tell she’s a beautiful one.” One of the other men said.
“She is and I’m indeed fortunate to have a woman like her in my life.” I lied.
“Mr Russell, I would like you to meet with someone. He’s also part of us. He will be back soon to join us.”
“Alright Mr Hopkins.”
“Speaking of the hero, here he comes.” He added as I twirled around only to see the last person I hate to see.
“It seems like we have an august visitor.” He said, with a smirk at the corner of his lips.
“Do you know him?” Mr Hopkins asked.
“More than you could ever imagine. I bet he can't deny that fact as well.” He answered, with a smile, as I tried to contain my anger.
“I don’t feel comfortable here. I need to go check on someone.” I announced getting on my feet.
“Is it because of Mr Malcom? How do you both know each other? We would like to know.” One of the men asked.
“It’s a long story, Mr Robert and besides he might get uncomfortable if I share the story with you guys.” He uttered with a chuckle.
“It’s alright. I guess Mrs Russell has already bewitched him completely that he can’t seem to even spend five minutes with us.” Mr Hopkins added with a soft chuckle.
“Is he married, Mr Hopkins?” The son of a b**** asked.
“No, the lady in question is his girlfriend.” The second man among them replied.
“Oh… I see. How come I wasn’t aware of that or is there something fishy.”
“We’re all desperately waiting to see the woman behind his success.” Mr Hopkins said with a smile.
“Really? Well, I also can’t wait to see her. I’m sure we’re going to get a lot of moments to spend with her." The b***d said which made my blood boil beyond control.
I wish I could show this son of a b*** his place so he can know where he stands. If I knew he had a connection with Mr Hopkins, I wouldn't have even gotten possessive with the damn contract.
"I'll see you at the party, Mr Hopkins." I uttered and walked away without waiting for his response.
I'll have to keep Sarah away from that devilish man as far as possible. A bad seed like him can affect the life of anyone around him.
