Chapter 61
He closed his bedroom door and I found myself pressed against it both his arms trapping me, keeping me in place, his eyes dark and filled with desire, he pressed his body against mine and I felt every inch of him, the electricity sending me into a frenzy, a fever came over me and my blood boiled. I slowly worked my hands up his chest, gazing deep into his eyes, his breath hitched and his face drew closer, I felt his breath on my cheek and my knees wabbled my arms circled around his neck and my watch flashed the time “oh my goodness, Aid I have to go” I unwrapped my arms and placed them on his chest doing my best to push him away, but to no avail, his hands on my waist relentlessly pursued me hunting me down, waiting for a moment of weakness to pounce and take me over. I couldn’t help but smile at the thought that after all this time he still loves me and he still wants me, he is the Alpha after all and whenever he goes out in public there is always a ton of girls that look more beautiful than me, yet he is here with me doing his best to get just one more minute with me
“You are not going anywhere, after all the Luna has to be by the Alpha’s side at all times”
“Are you forgetting that I’m not the Luna yet, and with that I bid you farewell”
“You can only use that excuse for three more days ” I shot him a look and he immediately saw the millions of questions rushing through my head “The mating ceremony is in three days’ time” his arms shot up in excitement “yes, everything has been arranged, finally” he turned and walked towards the middle of the room “I can finally spend time with my mate without hearing things like ‘I have to go’ don’t you just love it” his grin engulfing his face as he collapsed on the bed.
“So, you planned everything without me?” I looked at him folding my arms, the fury building up inside me.
“No, the inhouse decorator did, she is the one that got you all those dresses you wore for our dates, you liked them right?” I nodded “that’s how I know that you will like everything that she has planned” he said feeling proud of himself “I just couldn't wait for us to agree on a date, all the waiting was driving me crazy Scar, so I gave her the go ahead” my hand shot up to the back of my neck and slowly caressed the crease that had formed from the frustration
“Are you seriously telling me that my wedding has been planned completely from start to finish by someone else?!” he sat up and the look on his face told me that he didn’t understand my frustration at all
“This is a good thing, we couldn’t agree on a date because of our crazy schedules so I picked one, and it’s perfect because it coincides with the end of the Mass”
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“Are you sure you’re a wolf” he chuckled, I was not amused, he cleared his throat nervously
“It marks the end of the Mass…it commemorates it very well…and its tradition” he stammered
“What?!” is all I could manage to say
“Well…it’s like this Scar…because we’ll be mating after I’ve become Alpha it’s tradition that our matting ceremony commemorate the end of the Mating Season” my expression didn’t change
“Like I said before Scar, this is a good thing”
“Like I said, I have to go” I turned and opened the door and walked out
“Scar wait!” I heard him call out after me, but I my anger had flared up so much that I couldn’t stop, my feet carried me to the main door I got my coat from the hanger and headed out the door then out the gate, I heard his faint calls behind me, but I couldn’t stop, I concentrated on the sound of the concrete crashing under my feet. This is my wedding day, how can I have no say, sure it was cute when he sent me gifts and dressed me up, but this is different, this is bigger, this is my wedding day.
“Scar please stop” his hand was on my shoulder, and I stopped. I looked up at him, his breath blowing smoke in the air
“My mother taught me a long time ago that we should always listen to our mates because sometimes they know more about what is in our hearts than we do, and Scar I think this time you should listen to me” I looked into his emerald, green eyes as he spoke under the lamppost light that was creating a halo around his beautiful face
“ You are my best friend Scar, it might be silly but I thought to myself, what could be better than spending my entire life with my best friend, and you know what, I couldn’t think of anything, I want to be with you so badly it hurts, I can’t breathe without you, the air is too dance but you make it lighter” I chuckled at his words “believe me, Scar you make air lighter, whenever you’re around I feel like anything is possible, look I know we agreed to wait but I just couldn't stand another minute without you”
“You know there are times when friendship replaces love, right, and that’s because through friendship you know the person so well that you stop consulting then, and when that happens there’s no place left for love only friendship and I don’t want that to happen to us” I clung to his jacket and looked up into his green eyes searching for answers
“But I’m your lover and also your friend Scar”
“We have known each other for such a short time but somehow it seems like an eternity, it’s easy to get comfortable with a love like ours, because it’s like a love you read about in books or watch unfold in films, it’s good, it fools you into thinking that all is well, you start believing that finding love, keeping love and knowing love is easy and that it comes naturally, but Aid if you could take a step back you would realise that everything takes effort, time and energy to get it to work, nothing is easy, not even me” my heart pounded out of my chest and I felt my body radiating with heat, I don’t want you to hate me, but I need you to understand I thought to myself as he contemplated my words “ I know that the tales of everlasting romances have passed a long time ago, we may have that kind of love, and I’m not saying that we do but I’m content in the tiny love stories that we formulate together” I said looking down and exhaling deeply “we are happy Aid, there is no doubt about that we have made a little haven together, when I’m with you I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, you give me comfort, safety and love and there is nowhere else I would rather be than in your arms” he looked at me and a small smile formed on the side of his mouth
“What you just said now is not about me, it’s more about you and where you are at this point in time, you seem to be at a crossroads where there are two roads in front of you one that leads to happiness which I absolutely believe you deserve and the other leads to an endless wait. Waiting for a love that you might not find out there because the love you seek is right in front of you, I won’t force you Scar but I will show you my love, everyday all the days of my life for as long as I should live, I will show you my love” he took my lips and tears streamed down my cheeks and my resolve was reborn.
“Three days you say?”
“Yep”
“My dress, braids maids and guest list all sorted?”
“Yes”
“So, all I have to do is show up”
“Yes”
“This is strange”
“I know”
“Aid, I need to know that you understand my frustration and that you know where I’m coming from” I said searching his eyes, he nodded, and I hugged him feeling the tension leave my body “Can I at least meet with the designer?”
“It’s all sorted Scar, down to the last detail, you honestly don’t need to worry”
“I will hold you to that”
“Cross my heart and hope you punish me to your hearts content” he chuckled
“I will hold you to that” I took his hand and he walked me home
“Even my dress?”
“Yes”
“Can I at least see it before the day”
“Okay fine I’ll arrange for the two of you to meet tomorrow”
“Thank you”
